"That’s good." Christopher Cooper’s face no longer had the casualness he showed with Bailey Hansen earlier, but he nodded warmly to her, "Have a seat, make yourself comfortable."

Kris Cooper had already considerately pulled out the chair for her. Vera initially declined politely to sit first, but he reached out his arm, gently pulling her onto the chair.

Seeing their son’s actions, Bailey Hansen and Christopher Cooper exchanged a glance, both noticing the amused look in each other’s eyes.

While waiting for the food to be served, Bailey Hansen started talking to Vera about a movie plan she had mentioned earlier.

Vera was initially a bit nervous and shy, but as soon as they touched on this topic, she relaxed and began to speak freely and confidently.

Kris Cooper sat to her left, leaning back in his chair, his face slightly turned, with his amber eyes focused solely on her profile.

It seemed as if she was the only person in the world to him.

After a moment, the wine and dishes were served.

Bailey Hansen immediately invited Vera to eat, "There are no outsiders here, make yourself at home, eat more!"

"Thank you, Auntie!" Vera smiled in gratitude, reaching out for the fork.

Her right hand was injured, making it difficult to move, so she had been eating with her left hand using a fork or a spoon these past few days.

Kris Cooper had already extended his chopsticks to help transfer food to her plate, so she didn’t even have to reach out, as the food on her plate was already more than enough.

As they finished eating, Christopher Cooper put down his chopsticks and cleared his throat lightly.

Kris Cooper looked up at his father across the table, noticing Christopher’s subtle nod.

Realizing his father had something to say, Kris glanced at Vera, who had already finished eating, and reached under the table to hand her his wallet.

He leaned over to whisper in her ear.

"Be good, and settle the bill!"

"Okay." Vera took his wallet and stood up, "Uncle, Auntie, please take your time eating, I... I’ll be right back."

She had previously mentioned to Bailey Hansen that this was her treat, and forgetting the gift upon arrival made her feel a bit guilty. Now, with Kris’s reminder, it immediately came back to her.

Bailey believed she was going to the restroom, "Do you want me to go with you?"
