I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 417 - 416: The Girl from Six Years Ago (20)
Director Zhang had his subordinates take Logan Miles and a few extras to get their wounds treated. He then walked over and saw Kris Cooper standing before the door, frowning, as motionless as a statue. Director Zhang sighed and stepped aside.
Every minute, every second was a torment.
During the more than half an hour that Vera Wave spent in the emergency room, Kris Cooper felt as though he were being fried in hot oil.
Irene Spencer stood by, staring at the closed door, a hint of anticipation in her eyes. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
She didn’t believe that Vera Wave could have escaped such an explosion unharmed.
As everyone waited, each lost in their own thoughts, the door to the emergency room finally opened, and an emergency physician stepped out.
"Doctor!" Kris Cooper rushed forward, grabbing the physician’s arm tightly. "How is Vera?"
Kris Cooper’s voice trembled with anxiety, his face etched with unconcealed worry.
"Miss Wave doesn’t have any significant external injuries, just some abrasions. They aren’t serious, but..."
"But what?!" Kris Cooper’s grip on the physician’s arm tightened fiercely. "Speak!"
"Please... please calm down!" The physician glanced at the fingers gripping his arm tightly. "She’s out of danger now. However... her right arm was injured. We’ve treated the wound, but it’s quite deep, so she’ll require a recovery period."
Kris Cooper quietly sighed in relief. "Is she awake now?"
Feeling Kris Cooper’s grip loosen, the physician quickly pulled his arm free. "She’s awake. You can go in and see her now."
The moment the physician finished speaking, Kris Cooper pushed him aside and strode into the ward.
"Doctor, I apologize. He was a bit agitated," Tommy Taylor said, hurrying over to smooth things over for his master. "Do you think it might be possible to transfer Miss Wave to a better room?"
"Our facilities here are somewhat limited. Considering her condition, a few X-rays and 24 hours of observation should suffice. She won’t necessarily need to be admitted for a longer stay."
"Understood. Thank you."
Only then did Tommy Taylor breathe a sigh of relief. After thanking the physician, he also walked into the ward.
In the ward, Vera Wave was lying on her pillow, thanking a nurse. When she saw Kris Cooper enter, she immediately turned her head and smiled at him.
Kris Cooper’s gaze fell upon his little girl. Gauze was wrapped around her arm and also bandaged on her forehead. Her small face was still smudged with dirt. She looked so utterly pitiful.
The sight made his heart ache so intensely it felt like it might shatter.
He rushed to her side. Looking at her gauze-wrapped arm, he spoke softly.
"Does it hurt?"
She shook her head, trying to appear nonchalant.
"I’m fine. It’s just a small cut..."
He immediately cupped her face gently, afraid she might aggravate her injury by shaking her head.
"Don’t move your head. Just talk. Speak softly; I can hear you."
Vera Wave glanced sideways at the others who had followed into the ward and immediately offered them a smile. "Director, Director Zhang... I’m so sorry for making you all worry."
Seeing that she wasn’t seriously injured, the Director finally felt the heavy weight in his chest lift.
"Vera, you gave us such a fright earlier."
This girl was Kris Cooper’s treasure. If something had truly happened to her, and Kris Cooper were to unleash his anger, his own peaceful life would be over.
"Really?" Vera Wave looked around at everyone, a little bewildered. Her gaze finally settled on Kris Cooper. Seeing him covered in dirt and mud, worry colored her eyes. "Why are you so muddy... You... you’re not hurt, are you?"
