I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 412 - 411: The Girl from Six Years Ago (15)
"My husband is so good to me!" Vera Wave cooed, then she didn’t forget to move closer and landed a loud kiss on his mouth before whispering into his ear, "I’ll spend the night with you!"
The way the little girl gets jealous is still as adorable as before.
"Fine."
He responded with his usual smile.
Hearing Vera’s voice, Irene Spencer’s hand holding the phone had tightened as much as possible. Her nails scratched the phone case, and her new manicure was already loosening.
The elevator stopped on the sixth floor. The director and a few other staff members stepped in. Vera Wave immediately let go of Kris Cooper. The display of affection was purely for Irene Spencer’s benefit; she didn’t want others to think she was the kind of woman who only relied on men.
"Mr. Cooper, why didn’t you tell me you were coming?"
Upon seeing Kris Cooper, the director immediately greeted him warmly.
"I was nearby, so I found some time to come see Vera." Kris Cooper smiled at everyone. "This girl hasn’t caused you any trouble, has she?"
Everyone spoke at once.
"No, not at all!"
"How could that be possible?"
"Exactly! Miss Wave is both smart and friendly. She’s always helping us with our work; there’s no way she’d cause trouble!"
These weren’t just empty compliments. Vera Wave was always low-key on set, friendly to everyone. Despite being the second female lead, she took on all sorts of tasks. Even after her relationship with Kris Cooper was exposed, she didn’t put on any airs.
Who would dislike such a girl?
Kris Cooper nodded with a smile.
"That’s good."
They all went downstairs talking and laughing and, sure enough, saw Tommy Taylor waiting by the car.
Seeing Kris Cooper come out, Tommy Taylor quickly opened the car door. Kris Cooper invited the director to ride in his car, then got in with Vera Wave, completely ignoring Irene Spencer.
Watching the limousine drive away, Irene Spencer’s heart felt like it was about to explode with anger.
"Alas!" Anabel Wilton, who was standing beside Irene Spencer, sighed. "Looking at this trend, it’s practically guaranteed Vera Wave will be the leading actress in Director Lee’s new film!"
Her words didn’t help at all; the mere mention of it only made Irene Spencer more furious.
"Shut up! No one would think you’re mute if you kept quiet. Where’s our car?!"
Knowing Irene Spencer was in a bad mood, Anabel Wilton didn’t say anything further and hastily called their driver. Only after a while did Irene Spencer’s nanny car slowly arrive.
Irene Spencer got into the car and sullenly berated the driver for being late.
A short while later, they arrived at the shooting location.
The staff were already busy. Vera Wave and Irene Spencer went to get their makeup done. Kris Cooper, hearing they were shooting an explosion scene that day, nervously approached the director to ask about safety measures.
The director, calm and collected, explained that he had filmed countless movies and this wasn’t his first time shooting such a scene.
"Mr. Cooper, you don’t have to worry. Our pyrotechnics and explosives experts for this shoot are highly skilled professionals specially brought in from Hong Kong. The timing is entirely computer-controlled, with a maximum margin of error of less than one second; the actors won’t be harmed."
Emperor TV had always been meticulous about on-set safety. Kris Cooper was, of course, aware of their reputation in this regard.
However, since it involved Vera Wave, Kris Cooper was still uneasy.
"Can a stunt double be used instead?"
"We have both long shots and close-ups in this scene; a stunt double would be too obvious." The director looked somewhat troubled. "All our actors are required to do their own stunts, and... it’s too late to find a stunt double now!"
Vera Wave was a last-minute replacement for the second female lead, so finding a stunt double for her on such short notice wouldn’t be easy. This was a key scene in the movie. If they casually used a stand-in and it was noticeable, it would compromise the entire film.
