As she tilted her head, tears flowed from her eyes.
The director had them film several close-up shots before finally yelling, "Cut!" with satisfaction. He went up to Vera Wave and helped her up, praising her excitedly, "Vera, that was fantastic! I tell you, that feeling just now was perfect!"
"Really?" Vera Wave asked with a smile. "That’s great. I was afraid this take wouldn’t pass!"
"Good!" The director clapped his hands. "That’s it for today. Let’s call it a wrap. Dinner’s on me!"
He had initially thought Vera Wave would take a long time to get this scene right, but she got into the zone so quickly, much to the director’s delight.
Once everyone packed up, the director led Vera Wave to his car, taking her, Logan Miles, and the others to dinner at a restaurant.
Everyone took their seats. The director positioned Vera Wave next to himself; after all, she was Kris Cooper’s woman, and he didn’t dare treat her lightly.
As they waited for the food to arrive, he looked at Vera Wave and said seriously, "Vera, once this film is wrapped up, are you interested in acting in my next project? I’m not talking about a secondary female role. If you agree, I’ll give you the lead."
It’s not easy to find a new actress who is both good-looking and talented. The director sensed that Vera Wave was definitely going to be a star, and he immediately seized the opportunity to recruit her. These days, finding actors is easy, but securing funding is hard.
If he could win Vera Wave over, it would be much easier to seek investment from Kris Cooper down the road. Moreover, Vera Wave was a perfect fit for his new project in terms of both appearance and demeanor. Even though she was inexperienced, she had a strong work ethic and an irresistible charisma. "I guarantee you can, as long as you’re willing," the director chuckled. "What’s wrong... Afraid I can’t afford your fee?"

"Yes, yes, let’s eat! Vera, you have to eat more. Otherwise, Mr. Cooper will blame me if you lose weight, and I can’t afford that!" the director joked with a laugh.
"That’s right, Vera, be sure to eat a lot!"
The surrounding crew members also engaged in lighthearted banter with Vera Wave.
Vera Wave smiled and interacted with everyone. She also asked the director some questions about filming techniques; after all, she worked in planning, and these skills would be useful in the future.
The director patiently answered each question, and Logan Miles joined their discussion. Meanwhile, Irene Spencer, sitting nearby, felt left out.
At the dinner table, Vera Wave had clearly become the center of attention.
Across from her, Irene Spencer downed a glass of wine in frustration. She had previously approached the director about his new film, and he had assured her the role was hers. But now, he was openly inviting Vera Wave instead.
