I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 398: The Girl from Six Years Ago (1)
I’ve strolled in Penduline and trudged through the darkness. He is the wind above Penduline, the light in the darkness, constantly guiding me, accompanying me on my journey.
I’ve loved him, from the beginning to the end.

"What do you mean?" Irene Spencer took a step forward, meeting Vera Wave’s eyes. "Are you genuinely clueless, or are you just pretending to be?"
She reached out and grabbed Vera’s necklace, pinching the wedding ring on it. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"This ring was never yours to begin with. Kris Cooper has never loved you!"
Vera was stunned for a few seconds, then snatched the ring back from Irene’s hand and chuckled.
"Irene Spencer, do you think I’ll believe you just because you say so? Do you want to know what I see in your eyes?"
If it had been before, she might have believed Irene’s words to some extent. Now, however, Irene was, in her eyes, the epitome of a two-faced liar; there was no way Vera would believe her nonsense.
"What?" Irene asked.
"Envy, jealousy, and hatred!" Vera made a face at her. "Let me tell you, whatever I ask Kris to do now, he’ll do it. That even includes... banning... and destroying... you!"
She lightly tapped Irene’s face with the back of her hand, her tone as arrogant and caustic as it could be.
"In the future, you’d better be more courteous to me. Don’t touch my things. Stay away from my man, or else... face the consequences!"
She gritted out these last words through her teeth.
After saying this, Vera turned to leave, then stopped and turned back to look at Irene.
"Oh... I forgot to remind you, Irene, you’re developing crow’s feet. You should save your eye cream for yourself!"
"You!"
Irene almost had an aneurysm out of sheer frustration. She clenched her fists and gritted her teeth, like a cornered dog ready to bite.
"Irene!" Anabel Wilton rushed over just in time. Seeing her state, she hurried to grab her arm. "Calm down! We can’t afford to offend her backer right now!"
"Leave me alone!"
Filled with resentment she couldn’t vent, Irene flung Anabel’s arm off. Anabel stumbled back and fell onto a chair, her arm throbbing where it hit.
From a distance, everyone turned at the sound. Even Director Wilton looked over.
"What happened?"
Anabel forced a smile for the group.
"It’s nothing, I just tripped accidentally!"
Director Wilton glanced at Irene, his gaze lingering on her face with a hint of deeper meaning.
"All departments, prepare! Let’s get to work!"
At the director’s command, nobody dared to say anything more, and everyone immediately began their preparations.
By then, Vera had already changed into her costume and was standing ready for filming. Irene shot a glance at the infuriating girl and also walked over to stand opposite her.
This was a crucial confrontational scene between the two.
Vera, of course, had gone over it countless times and had reviewed the script repeatedly on the plane. She was more than ready.
As soon as the director called, "Action!" she instantly immersed herself in the character.
Staring at Vera’s alluring made-up face, Irene was still far from calm.
Seeing this, Vera raised an eyebrow slightly, a provocative look spreading across her face.
Although this was required by the script, Irene channeled her own feelings into the scene. Overcome by anger, her performance suffered; she forgot her lines and blurted out the wrong words.
"Cut!"
Director Wilton called for a stop, clearly discontented.
For Irene to make such a rudimentary mistake as flubbing her lines was simply unacceptable.
Anabel rushed to deliver the script. Irene went through her lines and tried to adjust her mood.
"Sorry, everyone... let’s do it again!"
"One more time!" the director said, gesturing with a slight lift of his chin. "Action!"
They started filming the scene again.
