Chapter 391: Chapter 391: Never Leave Me (Part 4)

Looking at the Whatsapp message, the image of Kris Cooper being drunk last night flashed before Vera Wave’s eyes, and she couldn’t help but smile again.

The car reached a crossroad, and there was a bit of a traffic jam, causing the taxi driver to mumble complaints softly.

Vera glanced to her side, looked at the long queue of cars ahead, and simply smiled while bringing her breakfast to her mouth, taking a big bite.

It’s just a traffic jam, what’s the big deal?

The world always changes with one’s mood; when you’re in a good mood, even rainy days are poetic.

While chewing on her breakfast, she used her hand to swipe through her phone, setting the selfie of Kris Cooper deleting Kenton Maverick’s photo from the gallery as her wallpaper.

Staring at the slightly angry face on the screen, she couldn’t help but smile again.

"What a jealous guy!"

...

...

It wasn’t until almost noon that Kris Cooper was woken up by the phone.

He raised his hand to press his slightly throbbing temple, reached for the phone, and brought it to his ear, hearing Tommy Taylor’s voice on the other end.

"Mr. CEO, your flight is at 1 PM. Don’t be late."

"What time is it now?"

"Quarter past eleven!"

"Got it."

Tossing the phone aside, Kris Cooper turned over in bed.

"Vera?"

No response.

"Honey?!"

Still no response.

He opened his eyes, looked around, and immediately saw a cup on the bedside table with a note underneath it.

Getting up, he reached for the cup and the note beneath it.

"Good morning, darling.

Have a sip of cool boiled water to moisten your throat. I’ve kept breakfast warm for you in the kitchen pot. Make sure to eat a lot, okay? Be good!

I’m off to work first. See you tonight.

— I’ll never leave you, my Vera."

Below, there was a doodle.

It showed an old man and an old lady walking side by side, seemingly worried he wouldn’t understand, with little heads added beside them. The arrow pointing to the old man read Kris Cooper, and the arrow pointing to the old lady read Vera Wave.

Looking at the "elderly version" of themselves sketched with just a few lines, Kris Cooper couldn’t help but laugh softly.

"Silly girl!"

Folding the note carefully a couple of times, he raised the cup to his mouth and downed the cool water in one gulp. Kris Cooper pressed his temple again and immediately took out his phone to call Vera.

"Awake, you big lazy pig?"

"I’m heading to Desberg this afternoon; I’ll be back by Friday night."

"Okay, it’s really hot over there now, remember to bring summer clothes."

"Okay." Kris Cooper responded softly, hesitated a bit, "Vera, did I say anything last night?"

"Why?" The young girl chuckled, "Afraid you spilled the beans while drunk and revealed secrets?"

He pretended to be relaxed, "Yeah, didn’t I tell you about my mistresses number three and four, right?"

The young girl smirked, "You didn’t mention number three and four, but you did talk about numbers five and six!"

Hearing her laughter, Kris Cooper secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

"I’m just worried I might have said nonsense in front of others while drunk and affected your image."

"No, not at all!" Vera took a light breath and spoke gently, "Don’t worry, I won’t leave you."

His heart tightened, "Did I... Did I say something?"

"Actually, it was nothing much. You just held my hand and kept making me promise you not to leave you." She laughed softly and then spoke in a strange tone, "Kris Cooper, I’m telling you, in this lifetime, I’m clinging to you. No matter how hard you try, you can’t get rid of me!"
