Chapter 385: Chapter 385: So Heartless (3)

Liliana Davis’s words hit right at Nathan Leafcastle’s sore spot.

The reason Nathan Leafcastle wanted to uncover the truth of this matter was, firstly, to give Vera Wave justice, and secondly, because he still cherished the past feelings with the Wave Clan. Besides these, there was a third crucial reason—it was because of Vera Wave.

The person he once thought of day and night had suddenly given up like this, and he always felt a reluctance in his heart.

If he could discover the truth, at least he could call her, or meet her once...

Nathan Leafcastle reached out to take the documents from her hand, but Liliana Davis’s fingers retracted, and the documents were clenched in her hand.

Looking up at her son, her gaze was deep.

"Little Nathan? Let go!"

The documents were gripped between the mother and son, one end in the mother’s hand, the other in the son’s hand.

The two of them gripped tightly, neither willing to let go, and the few thin sheets of A4 paper were stretched taut between them.

"Mom!" Nathan Leafcastle slowly spoke, "I’m begging you, this is... the last time, after this is done, I promise... I won’t interfere in her matters again."

Liliana Davis frowned, gazed at her son’s face, and finally slowly released her fingers. The documents were taken by Nathan Leafcastle and placed with the others. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Taking a deep breath, Liliana Davis softly spoke.

"The last time, as you said, you must keep your word."

Nathan Leafcastle nodded.

Raising her hand, Liliana Davis held her son’s shoulder, gazing deeply at his face for a moment.

"Mom will help you."

Nathan Leafcastle slightly raised the corners of his lips.

"Thank you, Mom!"

Liliana Davis sighed, "Do you have any leads now?"

"Not yet." Nathan Leafcastle gently shook his head, "By the way, Mom, you should have some insight about Luda Island development orders, right?"

"Mom was always in the energy bureau, only took this position at the beginning of this year. This case must be from before, I’m not familiar with it." Liliana Davis glanced at the documents he held, reached to take the stack in his hands, and flipped through them seriously, "I’ll have Linda help you check it out then!"

Nathan Leafcastle nodded, "Alright."

Seeing him sitting on the chair looking at the documents, Liliana Davis took up the soup he left on the table and walked out of the study room.

Downstairs in the living room, Linda saw her and immediately came over, taking the soup bowl from her hand.

"I’ve already called Miss Dalton. Upon hearing that Mr. Leafcastle is ill, Miss Dalton was very worried and said she would come over to visit Mr. Leafcastle as soon as possible."

Sally Dalton, the youngest daughter of the Barker Group’s big chairman Gabriel Dalton, had always favored Nathan Leafcastle. Liliana Davis had always hoped that her son might make some progress with her.

This time she deliberately let Linda "leak the news" to Sally Dalton, aiming to draw the two closer, hoping Nathan Leafcastle could walk out of Vera Wave’s shadow.

Liliana Davis nodded, glanced once towards the direction of the stairs, and spoke lightly.

"Nathan is preparing to investigate the matters of the Luda Island project, go and help him look into it."

Upon hearing the words Luda Island project, Linda’s eyes showed a trace of surprise, she looked up and exchanged a glance with her, Linda nodded understandingly.

"Alright, rest assured."

Liliana Davis gently raised her chin, and Linda carried the bowl into the kitchen.

Stepping to the window side, gazing out, Liliana Davis raised her left hand, and her gaze fell on her left ring finger.

On her ring finger, she wore a ring. The diamond wasn’t too large, and compared to her current status, this ring appeared rather understated.
