"Oh, Mary, calling our Vera like that, aren’t you afraid you’ll make her feel old?" Merlin Bradley immediately teased.

"I meant it as respect. If Vera doesn’t like it, I can call her Little Vera." Mary smiled ingratiatingly.

"Ahem!" Wang Xiaoya coughed, "I remember someone was quite high and mighty at the leasing company yesterday..."

"Xiaoya!" Mary immediately hugged her arm, "Please, let’s not dwell on the past. Can’t we let it go? I only acted that way because I was afraid of Kylo. Everyone knows I can’t stand those who look down on people!"

This one’s really shameless—thicker-skinned than a fortress. Now that she knows Vera has backing, she immediately tries to cozy up.

Vera watched her antics and just chuckled to herself. After a moment of thought, she spoke with a smile.

"Mary, don’t worry. There’s a reason for everything, and today’s matter has nothing to do with you. I understand."

Since they’ll be colleagues in the future, with paths crossing often, she figured it best to stay low-key with her current identity. Having too many foes wouldn’t do her any good.

Mary secretly breathed a sigh of relief, "You’re really so magnanimous..."

Vera was so unnerved that she took a quick step back as Mary reached out to hug her arm.

"Let’s all get to work and tidy up the conference hall."

Mary noticed Vera’s expression and, knowing better, stopped her flattery immediately and joined everyone else to energetically show her worth.

The other Advertising Department employees also willingly stayed behind with Vera and the others to help the exhibition company’s staff organize the conference hall.

Kate Palmer, the Advertising Department Director, and Assistant Manager Sam Davis stood not far away, watching Vera calmly direct everyone’s work. Kate nodded with satisfaction, "I thought I misjudged her!"

Sam Davis smiled, "A phoenix remains a phoenix, and a pearl remains a pearl, even if covered in dust."

Kate nodded, "Exactly, the young lady of Walter Wave Properties could never be a simple person."

"How did you find out?" Sam Davis asked curiously.

"When I first saw her, she looked familiar. I verified it by checking her background later." Kate crossed her arms, admiration in her eyes, "From the clouds to the mud, yet she wasn’t defeated and still managed to climb out. This girl will surely shine brightly one day. The President really has a good eye!"

Sam Davis nodded in agreement, "It’s just a pity about Kylo. Such a talented person, yet he did something foolish."

"Everyone walks their own path." Kate took a deep breath, "Character determines destiny; no one else is to blame for her pursuit of profit."

A black car slowly stopped by the roadside, the window sliding down to reveal a well-maintained, dignified face.

Taking off her sunglasses, Liliana Davis looked up at the newly adorned building outside.

"This used to be Walter Wave Building, which was taken over by Glimmer Game Group after Walter Wave Properties went bankrupt." In the seat next to her, Assistant Linda handed a photo to Liliana, "It’s now confirmed that Miss Vera’s boyfriend is Mr. Kris Cooper, the CTO (Chief Technology Officer) of Glimmer Group."
