I Am Genie-Chapter 43: Where’s My Divine Artifact?
The sudden change of scenery made Michael’s mind a bit fuzzy. For a moment he couldn’t clearly determine his own position.
He did lock the location, but which direction was his face pointing? What altitude was he at? His brain needed time to process this information. Even though he knew his body’s position and direction in advance, he still needed time to adapt.
"This is too hard. If my position got changed during a fight, it would disrupt my attack rhythm. I might manage, but what about Leo? He won’t know where I’m going to throw him because if I tell him beforehand, it loses the element of surprise for the enemy."
Michael rubbed his forehead, feeling his brain stretched tight like it was about to explode. This problem was truly difficult. To coordinate effectively requires two people to be so in sync they understand each other without words.
"Let’s discuss this after meeting Leo again. I also want to know what effect Leo’s domain has."
After saying that, he clapped his hands once, the surrounding scenery immediately returned to how it was before, and Cook God once again stood before him.
"Pretty tricky to use, right?"
Cook God asked, but his bright eyes looked like he already knew the answer. The first time you suddenly change position, it’s impossible to adapt immediately.
"Yeah, it really is tricky. Moreover, if you want to coordinate with someone else, the difficulty multiplies..."
He paused for a beat, Michael thought about if there was anything else he should ask. After all, after this, there wouldn’t be another chance to meet. He thought back and forth but didn’t know what specific issue to ask about, yet he couldn’t not ask.
"According to you, is there anything else I need to pay attention to? Help me out a bit more so I can make your ability famous throughout the world once again." Michael asked, adding a flattering line to increase the effectiveness of his words.
"Hmph, cut the flattery. I’ve been dead for tens of thousands of years, what do I care about reputation? Besides, even when I was alive I didn’t care about fame. I’m not human after all, I don’t care about those boring things."
Seeing that his words seemed to have backfired, Michael was momentarily flustered. But seeing Cook God’s expression still didn’t seem to care much, he considered it still okay.
"So, is there anything else you want to tell me?"
"Um... Oh right, I still have the divine artifact. Getting it is quite useful, it can protect your soul and add a bit of resistance to negative effects. Protecting your soul means even if your body is completely destroyed, you can still exist in soul form."
Cook God had been inside this space for so long he almost forgot he had a divine artifact.
Hearing about soul protection, Michael’s eyes trembled with surprise before turning into immense joy. So didn’t this mean his maximum punishment was just being imprisoned in a bronze oil lamp for ten years? He had to ask the system clearly to avoid a disastrous misunderstanding.
’System, existing in soul form doesn’t count as death, right? So I would only be imprisoned for a maximum of ten years, correct?’
After asking, Michael’s heart immediately pounded, anxiously waiting for the system’s reply. If it was really like this, he’d be happier than winning the jackpot.
[You are not wrong, as long as you exist in any form, it counts as being alive. Thus the maximum punishment is a failed mission.]
[However, what you described is an ideal situation. If you cannot find that divine artifact, then everything you said is meaningless.]
Receiving confirmation from the system, Michael was thrilled. What could be better than never having the possibility of being imprisoned for a thousand years in that damn place?
Thinking of that divine artifact, he became more and more determined to help Leo become king of the world at any cost. As long as he carried that divine artifact to other worlds in the future, there would be nothing left to fear.
The corner of Cook God’s mouth twitched as he looked at Michael’s idiotically grinning expression. He had only just mentioned the divine artifact, what was there to be so happy about? The divine artifact was indeed very useful, but could it possibly be more valuable than inheriting power from a god?
"Hehehe, tell me where that divine artifact is. I’ll definitely build you a really big tomb." Michael laughed in a thoroughly despicable manner.
Looking at Michael’s current appearance made Cook God doubt his own memory. Was that Michael and this Michael not the same person? Moreover, had he ever said he needed a tomb?
He originally intended to curse because of Michael’s sudden attitude, but then he thought of an extremely ’vicious’ plan. Since what needed to be done was done, he could go die now, before dying he could give Michael a ’little joy’.
"Let me remember where it is..."
The Cook God said slowly, putting on an act of trying to remember even as his body had begun to dissolve into points of light. Moreover, it started dissolving from the top of his head, making Michael extremely anxious.
"Quick, quick, tell me! Tell me quickly!"
Seeing the only clue to find the treasure of his life rapidly disappearing before his eyes but he had no way to save it. He was about to cry.
"Ah, I remember. I left it at..."
Cook God was about to say something when he suddenly stopped. His mouth dissolved into small points of light right at that moment.
"Nooooooo!!!"
Michael held his head and screamed in despair. In that moment he felt like all his beautiful dreams had vanished into thin air. The continent was so vast, where would he go to find Cook God’s divine artifact? More importantly, he didn’t even know what it looked like.
Right at this moment, Cook God’s six arms simultaneously raised the ’OK’ symbol as if to tell him to rest assured, this was just a small problem.
"You ’OK’ my ass! Damn bastard! My divine artifact... it’s gone... all gone..."
Michael wailed miserably, this was the loudest he had ever cried from regret in his entire life.
The points of light representing Cook God’s power all rushed into Michael’s body, followed by the space beginning to collapse.
