Chapter 648: Chapter 646 Massacre

"He’s here, He’s come!! Why... How did He find us?!" Wang Mingxue’s voice was tinged with fear and despair.

"It’s not Him, not Him," Wang Ye countered, his superhuman vision had already made out the large figure in the sky. It wasn’t Him. Although it appeared daunting, the oppressive force of this white entity was far less than one ten-thousandth of His.

Many ordinary soldiers drove tanks and various infantry fighting vehicles out from the base, while anti-aircraft guns and artillery trained their sights on the white giant in the sky.

At that moment, the white giant descended slowly from the sky, and dozens of flying swords carrying a large block of ice landed on the ground.

"My name is Cha Na, a Knight of His. On behalf of Divine Power Tianyang, I issue you the order to commit suicide. Also, I bring you a meeting gift," Cha Na’s voice transmission said.

The flying sword carrying the ice block glided to the clearing in front of the machine gun positions. It was rectangular in shape, astonishingly large, about the size of a military truck, and within the ice was a faint silhouette of black shadows as if something was frozen inside.

Several Demon Marine Corps approached to inspect and surrounded the ice block with their bodies, in case it exploded.

Wang Mingxue and Wang Ye also approached the ice. Wang Ye pushed the soldiers aside and after a brief inspection, he discovered that the dark shadows inside the ice were dismembered human bodies.

"Lift me up, Wang Ye," Wang Mingxue said.

Wang Ye knelt on one knee, allowing Wang Mingxue to step on his thigh. Then, with his left arm bracing Wang Mingxue’s waist, he lifted her effortlessly, and she jumped onto the ice block.

She hadn’t been there long before Wang Ye saw her complexion turn grim; she covered her mouth and then burst into tears.

"What did you see?!" Wang Ye quickly asked.

"Leng Kai... It’s Leng Kai!" Wang Mingxue said.

She started pounding the ice, crying loudly, "It’s Leng Kai!! He was supposed to be at the East Continent! How could he have been..."

Wang Ye grabbed the edge of the ice block, exerted force, and leapt up, only to see that underneath the icy surface, Leng Kai had been quartered, his head and spine separated to the side, his bare upper body covered in gashes, his intestines and innards placed above his torso, his arms hacked into six pieces, one knee seemingly shattered by some kind of piercing object, broken in two, a leg’s shin crushed into powder, thigh slashed several times, the lower half of his body not in sight.

On Leng Kai’s face, his eyes were hollow, the eyeballs gone, his lips torn, revealing his jaw, and his teeth plucked out one by one, arrayed in two rows next to his head.

His corpse was laid out as if it were a disassembled electronic, crafted into a cross-sectional diagram and deliberately placed at the top of the ice block. Beneath him, were bodies of Demon Marine Corps soldiers, who, though relatively more intact, had been gutted and emptied, having endured tremendous pain before death.

Anger flared in Wang Ye’s heart, his rage uncontainable. He looked up at the white giant in the sky and roared, "Was it your doing?!!!"

Cha Na heard Wang Ye’s roar and smirked, his voice transmission mocking, "This is His masterpiece. I wish it were my handiwork. You’re nothing but a bunch of intransigent animals, remnants of an old world. He once invited you to join Him; you responded with insignificant violence. He once allowed you to see with your own eyes in ’Divine Light’ protected lands, yet you remained willfully ignorant. Now, there’s nothing left to say. He bestows upon you a different kind of eternity: death. That is your fate. Kneel! Commit suicide! It’ll be more comfortable that way."

"Go fuck yourself!!!" someone screamed. The voice transmission was meant for everyone, audible no matter where one was in the base.

The next second, anti-aircraft guns began firing, and tanks lobbed shells towards the distant foothills.

Cha Na’s smile vanished. At a mere thought, the Descendant Army swarmed towards the base like locusts, their tactics non-existent, insect-like wings sprouting from their backs, eyes shooting intense beams of light, firing as they charged forward.

The descendants possessed superpowers that were of the weakest triangular form, some even stemming from the semi-finished Black Medicine, but with multiple abilities that required no neutralizer and coupled with their modified bodies, the Demon Marine Corps members were completely at a disadvantage in solo combat.

Wang Ye hugged Wang Mingxue and jumped off the giant ice block, saying, "You follow the tech team to evacuate; there will be 2000 soldiers going with you to protect Professor Feng Nuoyi and Professor Wang."

"What about you!?" Wang Mingxue asked.

"We’re going to make sure you can get away," Wang Ye said.

Having said that, his helmet visor turned an opaque tea color, and he turned and rushed towards the frontline.

Wang Mingxue looked back at the command post, where all the windows of the three-story building were covered with iron plates, but such defenses were meaningless against this kind of attack.

Soon, the shiny flying swords floating in the sky flew towards the anti-aircraft machine gun positions like rain. Wang Mingxue heard tanks moving, accompanied by continuous bombardments, and the scene became chaotic. She saw the large figures of the Demon Marine Corps jump into the crowd with superhuman speed and strength, while large-caliber rifles roared incessantly. However, the scene was far from heartening; the corpses inside the ice block had already proved that they were no match, and it was nothing more than a desperate fight.

Her shortwave communicator suddenly lit up red, and amidst the noise, Professor Feng Nuoyi’s voice came through the public channel: "Is anyone listening?! I’m Feng Nuoyi!"

"Professor! It’s Wang Mingxue! Where are you?!" Wang Mingxue quickly responded.

"Thank God! I thought it was already chaos out there! We’re in the escape tunnels, and the vehicles are ready. In order to make our getaway, we had to abandon a lot of experimental equipment," Feng Nuoyi said.

"It is chaos out there! Professor... Leng Kai is dead!" Wang Mingxue said.

She didn’t know who else to tell. All the girlfriends she knew were dead, or she couldn’t get in touch with them, and she didn’t know where her grandfather was now, perhaps still in the command room. In short, she blurted this out almost subconsciously.

"I know; I saw it all through the surveillance... That must be hard for you, right? But that’s exactly why I’m looking for help!" Feng Nuoyi said.

"What do you want to do?!" Wang Mingxue asked.

"That giant ice block! Bring it to me! We’ll take them all with us!" Feng Nuoyi said.

"It’s too big, that thing is as big as a truck; we can’t move it!" said an ordinary soldier on the channel.

"We’re close to the Arctic Circle, you idiot! We don’t need to move it! Just find a way to drag it!" Feng Nuoyi said.

"They’re all dead, Professor!" said Wang Mingxue, although Leng Kai was her lover, she hadn’t lost her senses.

"Even dead, they’re useful, two-legged people are hard to find right now!" Feng Nuoyi said.

No one dwelled on it any longer. At that moment, dozens of soldiers responded to the communication, all risking their lives running towards the ice block. Together with Wang Mingxue, they strived to push the ice block toward the slope of the underground parking garage.

The flying swords above were roving all around; the sound of the anti-aircraft guns was no more. The roar of the tanks had also decreased significantly. The building, like tofu, had two of its layers sliced open. The Demon Marine Corps members were surrounded by swarming Descendant Soldiers, pulled into stakes; they tore open breastplates, extracted bodies from the inside, then chopped up the chest and abdominal muscles into pieces, took out the viscera and intestines, and afterwards, paraded the heads around in the sky.

And all the while, the white giant never lifted a finger, just standing on its sword, watching coldly from the sidelines.
