I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 88: Sir Raymond is much better than you
Ariel took back her hand from the mirror and stared at the reflection that had no other aim but to blame her for all that went wrong.
It was there to remind her that she had put herself in this situation by wanting more than she was supposed to have and each time it came, it hurt her.
’You can try to regret now but it won’t help matters. You’ve probably put Sir Raymond in trouble with your existence.’
Ariel covered her ears trying to keep out that voice but it wasn’t working. It was like it was speaking directly in her head.
’You shouldn’t have met Sir Raymond. You put this on yourself. You have yourself to blame. Next time, do well and stay quiet like the mouse you’ve always been.’
"Did I do wrong?" She asked herself. "I didn’t ask for a perfect life. I just wanted somewhere warm to sleep at night and my head to be alright. Was that too much to ask?" Tears brimmed down her cheeks and her reflection laughed at her. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
’How is that working out for you? What you said is no better than how you’re living right now. Give up or you’ll kill Sir Raymond for us.’
"No, I... "
’This is your punishment for what you did to Marco. The same way you placed him in the hands of others to be misused, you have also fallen in the hands of others to be misused. Hahaha.’ The voice laughed.
"No, no." Ariel crouched down and cried. "I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Sir Raymond. Please be alright. Sir Raymond, I’m scared. Sir Raymond, I... "
"What’s this?" She heard Leo’s angry voice and she froze before getting up to her feet. Leo walked up to her with heavy steps and grabbed her arm. "Did I just hear you call that bastard’s name? You still think of him? Do you know how much trouble he’s causing for us out there? Ha, you wouldn’t know because you’re stuck in here like a bird in a cage."
Ariel watched him. He looked really pissed and she knew he was going to take it out on her, but for some reason, she wanted to piss him off more. He hated that name, right?
"Sir Raymond is much better than you." She spat out with an indifferent expression and his veins popped. Like before, he hit her in the face.
"Shut your mouth. I don’t ever want to hear that word from you." He said, gripping her tightly. "He is not better than me. Why do people think he is better than me?"
He slowly started going down to his knees while clutching on to her dress.
There’s this thing. Ever since whatever war that was going on out in the outside world started, Leo had grown this sort of insecurity. He hated hearing Ariel call out Raymond’s name and kept saying he was better than him.
Whatever was going on outside, was probably big to have such an impact on this prideful jerk.
Theo walked in and as soon as he saw Leo in that condition, he walked up to him and pulled him up.
"Hey, put yourself together. They’ll be coming for us soon." He said and glanced at Ariel. She was quiet with a fresh bruise on her face. "Stay here and don’t even think of coming out." He warned and left with Leo.
Ariel looked in the mirror. The reflection that was so harshly reminding her that she was worthless was gone.
She looked at her red and throbbing cheek and touched it. Guys that have no problem hitting a girl could never be good. He could never be better than Raymond.
"Hah." She sighed and then realized the words Theo said. "What did he mean by...?"
Her words were suddenly interrupted when someone opened the door. She turned and her eyes widened. That... She wasn’t hallucinating, right? It wasn’t a dream, right?
Standing with his back against Ariel was Raymond in a guards disguise. He was currently hiding from the guards he had spotted coming from the hallway and had no idea that the room he had entered in an attempt to escape them, contained the lady he had ever so longed for.
The lady he had missed and was there to rescue.
Ariel couldn’t believe it. Maybe she was seeing things. Maybe he just had a familiar back and a familiar silhouette. Maybe it was her mind playing tricks on her but that scent... That familiar scent coming from him...
She knew Raymond’s scent like a dog knew its owners and she was very convinced he was Raymond. He just had to be.
Raymond gave out a silent sigh and decided it was time to go out, but as he reached out for the door handle, he heard his name come out from a still and silent, yet familiar voice.
"Sir Raymond."
He froze with widened eyes. Slowly, he turned around and behold, he saw her. The girl he came to find. He saw Ariel, and she was looking so skinny, pale and bruised that he almost didn’t recognize her.
"Is that really you?" She asked and took a step towards him. "I’m not dreaming, am I? This isn’t a hallucination. You’re really here, right?" The disbelief in her eyes only made Raymond wonder what torture she had gone through to look like that.
"Ariel." He called her name and as if struck by a sweet and pleasant truth, she smiled warmly. It was a smile that had never played on her lips for the past two months and tears slowly rolled down her cheeks.
"Yes, Sir Raymond." She pursed her lips and sniffed. "I’m Ariel. Your Ariel."
Raymond’s heart raced and he rushed towards her and embraced her, pressing her head in his chest and she broke into tears.
"Ariel. My Ariel. I found you. I finally found you."
(Now, let’s go back to what happened with Raymond while Ariel was in custody of those maniacs and how he suddenly appeared there. Also, those who haven’t unlocked privileged Chapters, please do. It’ll really help me out in this win-win mission. Im really falling behind.)
