Chapter 67: Ariel, I am a virgin

Raymond knew that answer well but for the good of both of them, he refused to admit it and said,

"I don’t know."

He hoped he wouldn’t be like those who sort after her in the past, just to hurt her in the end.

Ariel looked at Raymond’s face, studying the expression she had never seen on him before. He was really clueless about his own desires, huh?

"Sir Raymond." She called and reached out her hand to touch his face.

She gently grazed his cheek with the tip of her fingers till she was sure he wouldn’t avoid her touch. His face was a bit smooth to the touch but she could still feel a little bit of hair that had yet to be shaved from his chin.

"Sir Raymond." She called again, this time a little silent and much like a mutter.

Raymond seemingly sunk into her hand on his face. Her hand was warm.

"Ariel." He called back, closing his eyes. This was when she realized that he wasn’t just unsure of his desire, he was also scared of it.

"Is something wrong?" She asked him and he opened his eyes. His deep brown eyes staring at her with hunger and a bit of fright.

"I’m fine." He said.

"But you want me, don’t you?" She boldly asked him. "You want to kiss me, touch me..." Her hand slid down from his face to his neck and he shut his eyes again.

This was a bold move coming from her and she knew it. He said it just now, he wanted her. And she wanted him as well. So there wouldn’t be a problem if she went this far, right?

"...you want to do all these things to me." She said, her hands slipping into his shirt from his neckline. "Sir Raymond, we’ve been using each other for our own benefits so far. Would it be wrong to make use of each other for this one thing? I mean, you can use my body and I..." She lifted her gaze and met his, showing her desire to continue whatever it was that she was starting. "...will equally use yours."

Raymond was silent. He stared into her eyes. He had been worried that he would hurt her with his unreasonable feelings yet here she was, proposing they use each other’s bodies. It was a relief but at the same time, he felt a sting of disappointment.

Not understanding his complex feelings, he decided he needed to clear his head.

"Ariel." He caught her hand, pulling it away from him and looked away. "I..."

"Stop." Ariel suddenly stopped him from talking and took her hand back. "I get it. I’m sorry for pushing forward like that." She started getting up from the bed and a confused Raymond wondered what sort of conclusion she had come up with for her to give up like that.

"Ariel, stop." He said and she stopped but didn’t turn to face him. "What’s wrong?"

"Oh, it’s nothing. You don’t want to and I was being presumptuous. I must probably look desperate, haha." She laughed but that did not hide the creak in her voice.

He could immediately tell that something was wrong. He got up and approached her.

"Oh, it’s late. I’d better head out so you can sleep." She said and attempted to leave when Raymond caught her hand.

"Ariel." He called her but she refused to turn around. "Look at me."

"There’s no need." She said.

"Ariel." He called her once more. "Look at me."

Ariel bit down on her bottom lip. Her pained eyes could not be hidden and she knew Raymond would immediately tell that something was wrong.

"I..."

Not waiting for her to refuse once more, Raymond pulled her to himself and held her in his arms.

Her little figure in comparison to his seemed to feel much smaller as he held her and looked into her pained eyes.

"Ariel." His voice was low and a bit gruff as he called her name. "Did I upset you?" She shook her head. "Is it because I refused to touch you?" Once again, she shook her head. "Then what is it?"

"It’s nothing." She said, throwing her face aside.

"Tell me what it is." He demanded and she bit down on her lip. "Ariel."

"Please stop calling my name." Ariel said. "You’ve called my name so many times that I can’t even count." She said and though he agreed to that fact, he did not say anything about it. For all he knew, this could be her means of changing the topic.

"Ariel, why do you look pained?"

She finally took up the courage to say it.

"It’s just because at the time when you refused me, I suddenly thought, ’What could be the reason behind his refusal?’ There were two things that came to mind."

"What were they?"

"One of them was the fact that you still see me as a child. You probably couldn’t look past the guilt you’d feel if you were to do that to a child." She said. "And the other, I might’ve seemed ’dirty’ to you." She said and his eyebrows furrowed.

"What?"

"The fact that I spent two years giving this body to Marco and having all sort of scars, you couldn’t bring yourself to touch someone as dirty as me." Her saddened and almost too sure expression made Raymond feel like his action brought about that conclusion.

But in all honesty, he did not see her like that. She was not dirty. In fact, she was the purest he had ever come across.

Humans were rotten and greedy by nature but she wasn’t. She didn’t have that much greed a human possessed and even if she did, she tried not to show or act on it.

This made him want her more but he was not confident. He was not confident that he would be able to retain that purity she possessed and he might end up corrupting her... Breaking her.

"Ariel." He brushed her hair back and looked deep into her eyes. It looked like she was already convinced that the reason he refused her was the second.

How to convince her otherwise? She was just too stubborn.

"I didn’t refuse you because of either of that." He said.

"Then why?" She asked and he looked aside, ashamed of some sort. "Is it something you can’t say?"

"Ariel, I am a virgin."

Ariel blinked her eyes and stared blankly at him. That came out of nowhere. Wait, no, she couldn’t accept it. What those girls said at that time ...it was true?

"Pft." She stifled an unintentional laugh. "I’m sorry. I’m sorry." She apologized but ended up laughing. "I’m... "

"Is it funny?" He asked her and she shook her head. "Then why are you laughing?"

She looked at him and ended up laughing again. She wasn’t laughing at the fact that he was still a virgin but rather, his bluntness in admitting it.

He looked like he wasn’t ashamed of the fact and didn’t see anything wrong with it either.

If it was this reason...the reason he had to refuse her then... she was more than convinced.

"Then, it’s true you’ve never been with anyone?" She asked him and he nodded. "That means..." She reached out for his lips and touched them. "I am the first?"

"Yes." He answered and her heart melted for some reason. Being Raymond’s first...

"I understand." She said and shook herself out of his arms. "If that’s why you refused me then, I understand."

"What are you going to do now?" He asked her and she grinned.

"Sir Raymond, I’m going to be really honest... And bold... And greedy. I’m going to be greedy."

"For what, Ariel?"

"You mentioned in the contract that if I, party A, finds a need for you, party B’s service then you must oblige." She dropped her hands on his shoulders. "And I, party A, have currently found a new reason to need you, party B."

Raymond was silent. When did Ariel become so outspoken?

He covered his mouth and looked away. Who would’ve thought she would use the contract this way? Not him. If he did, he wouldn’t have added that clause.

He just felt obligated to complete her requirements and needs at that time that he didn’t think she would do this.

"You’re really going to do this?" He asked her and she smiled.

"Right. I am currently in need of your body. Won’t you comply and help to the best of your abilities?" She asked, amidst a cunning grin.

Raymond found himself sighing and then he nodded.

"Alright." He said. "But I cannot give you my heart."

"It’s not your heart I need, it’s your body." She said, "Besides, I have no confidence that I can win or take care of your heart. Your body, I can do that much. After all, I want to make you happy." She smiled and her words replayed in his head.

He remembered her previous words and he looked up, exclaiming in realization.

"Ah, so this really was what you meant at the time." He muttered.

"What? Did I say that before?" She asked him but he refused to answer and simply smiled. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

"You want my body, right?" He asked and she nodded. "How exactly are you going to make me happy?"

"Well," she darted her eyes aside, ashamed to say the words out. "...another time." She said. "We need to get some sleep. There’s a battlefield waiting for us."

"Yes." He brushed her hair back and she took a step back. "Then good night?" He leaned in and kissed her forehead.

"Goodnight."
