Chapter 62: You and I, get so alike by the day

Ariel made her way to the door as the men started ripping off Marco’s clothes. He struggled but there was no way he could win against four hefty men. His eyes looked like they would pop out any moment.

"H-how can you do this to me? Yo-you’re really going to let them rape me?" Marco asked and Ariel paused.

She looked over her shoulder and said with a smiling face.

"Well, it’s not really going to be considered as rape if you just let them do it. Go with the flow and enjoy it. Isn’t that what you told me?" She looked forward and made her way to the door.

As the first man pressed his huge member against Marco’s anus, he started screaming out.

"No, please don’t. Pl... Please. I... I’ll do anything. Please, I... No... Nooooo." He yelled as the man with the huge member penetrated deep into his tight anus hole and started thrusting without caring if he was bleeding or not.

Ariel made her way safely out of there. She leaned on the door with her head down for a while and then she looked up at the sky, giving out a sigh.

Though this was a cruel way to get revenge, she knew she had to do it. This was the only way she would feel like she got them back, at least quarter, for what they made her pass through growing up.

She could still feel her heart racing though. It wasn’t easy getting hard and cruel revenge. And even if she wanted to skip the whole torture and just end their life, she knew it wasn’t easy killing people. Plus, that would be considered letting them off lightly, seeing how they made her suffer.

She looked forward and saw Raymond standing a few feets away.

"Is it done?" Raymond asked, stretching out his hand to her and though for a moment, she wondered, she still went ahead to take it with a smile.

"Yes. I’m finally even with them." She said.

"Does it make you feel better?" He asked her but she shook her head.

"It actually makes me feel awful." She answered and looked at her hand which was slightly trembling. "Instead of feeling happy, I feel like I committed a grave sin." She clenched it and looked up, trying to smile it off. "Guess now I know why the bible said to leave all revenge for the Lord. It would’ve been easier for my heart to handle." She gave a wry smile.

"You go to church?" Raymond asked her but she shook her head.

"It was in the past." She said. "I suffered so much that I was looking for salvation everywhere. I attended mass and prayed, hoping the Lord would answer me and send down someone to save me from my afflictions but it never came. And so, I stopped."

Raymond was silent.

"You and I, get so alike by the day." He said and Ariel did not ask about it. She knew he suffered so she guessed that when he said that, he was referring to himself going to church to pray as well.

"Then what about you?" She suddenly asked. "Those whom you took revenge on, how did you do it?" She asked and Raymond looked at the distance.

"Let’s just say they met a bloody death." He answered and smiled.

"Sir Raymond?" Ariel called.

"Yes?"

"You’re smiling a lot these days." She pointed out and he paused. He honestly didn’t realise it but from time to time, he found himself smiling when he was with Ariel.

"You think so?" He asked her and she nodded. "Well, does it suit me?"

"Very." Her immediate and honest response made him stifle a laugh. "You look so handsome, more handsome than you originally are, when you smile." She added and subconsciously leaned in as if wanting to kiss him.

"Ariel." Raymond called her name and she stopped. What was she about to do just now? She couldn’t tell.

"Anyway." She threw her face away from his. "Now that we’ve drawn a curtain on this act, we’ll need to open a new curtain for the next." She reminded him and he nodded, his countenance suddenly turned heavy.

It wasn’t that he forgot about it but rather, he felt heavy at heart knowing she would be out in harm’s way once they open the new curtains. But he was going to make sure she didn’t fall into any harm.

Now that he had realised his fondness of her, he didn’t want to let his complex emotions get in the way. Whether he desired her as a woman or otherwise, he would keep her safe and at the same time, carry out his revenge plan.

"Ariel?" Raymond suddenly called and she looked at him.

"Yes, Sir Raymond?" She answered.

"What would you do if you found yourself in an extremely dangerous situation?" He asked. "For example, if you’re being threatened with a gun or there’s a knife poking your vocal cords, what would you feel? Would you blame me for putting you in that situation? Would you curse at me? Would you ...hate me?"

Ariel was silent. What would she do in such a situation? Wasn’t it obvious?

"I’d do neither of that." She answered. "If I were being threatened, I’d buy time for you to come save me."

"And what if I am oblivious to the fact that you are in danger? What if I am too late?"

"Then I will act the part as a useful partner... No, I will act the part of a pawn." She said and smiled faintly. "In a game of chess, the pawns are let out in order to carry out the will of the player, the god of the game. And in a situation whereby the pawn gets caught up in a dangerous situation, the god has only one option and that is to discard the worthless pawn."

The wind blew gently and Ariel’s hair blinded her vision. Thus, she could not see the broken expression that suddenly displayed on Raymond’s face.

"Discard..." He mumbled. Yes, that was right. But Ariel wasn’t a pawn anymore. She was more than that.

Ariel successfully removed her hair from her face and looked at Raymond who covered his mouth and looked aside, contemplating.

"Sir Raymond?" She called.

"Ariel, as a pawn, what would you aim for?" He asked and Ariel paused. Her lips suddenly curled up in a hearty smile and she said,

"I wish to become a queen that can confidently stand right next to the king and at the same time, protect him." She slid her hair behind her ear.
