Chapter 41: We’ll apologize

"Call me a bitch, call me cheap, call me all you want but jeez, if you’re messing with my man then you’re gonna get my teeth." Ariel sang as she swung her legs.

The girls who were trying to act tough because their parents were wealthy were currently serving as a chair for Ariel who has bested them in strength. Humiliated and hurt pride, they couldn’t help but grit their teeth while waiting for the pink haired ponytail girl who ran away to her help.

"It’s too bad that cotton candy girl ran away." Ariel said.

’Just you wait, you bitch. You’ll end up in serious trouble once people come.’ The red haired girl gritted her teeth while her hands trembled. She and two other girls were on all fours on the dirty floor, serving as a chair for Ariel to sit.

’I didn’t want to cause a scene but these girls got on my nerves.’ Ariel thought.

You might be wondering how Ariel, who gets scared of fights, was able to best four girls. Well, compared to the four girls who lived in a pretty high guarded fortress and doing no strenuous job whatsoever, Ariel was really strong.

The only strenuous thing they might’ve done their whole life was pick up a pen to study.

They couldn’t even break free from Ariel’s hold and ended up on the floor. She didn’t hit them though, but they still ended up that way.

"Hm, they should be here by now." Ariel mumbled and just then, the restroom door opened exposing them to a crowd who was wondering what was going on. They were led by the pink ponytail girl.

"There, look at her. She’s harassing May, Charlotte and Christyn." The pink haired, who we now come to know as Lily, yelled.

"Hey, get away from them. What do you think you’re doing?" Someone tried to intervene and step forward but Ariel glared at them.

"Step away." She said and like an active command, the guy stopped. "You got lucky." She said, referring to Lily. "But I’m yet to hear these girls apologise to my man."

"You... We didn’t say anything wrong." May, the red haired girl defended. "What we said was the truth."

"Which part? The one where you said Raymond was a bastard or was it when you said his mother was a prostitute who passed on her charms of luring people to him?" She asked and May trembled in fear. "Or was it when you said he, my lover, has a bad standard in picking a lover because I am very cheap?" She glared and then got up, making the girls collapse to the ground.

The people watching were shocked.

"How could they have said that so openly? Are they not scared?"

"They dared to say it when his lover was around? They must have a death wish."

"It’s bad to get on the bad side of Raymond Stein. He might be an illegitimate child but he’s still a competent and cruel businessman."

Ariel frowned.

’So it’s true that he’s an illegitimate child.’ she thought and glared down at the girls who were trying to get up. "Did I say you can get up?"

"This... This is too much. Someone help them." Lily cried out. Unknowing to her, Ariel was headed her way and by the time she turned, Ariel was already standing right in front of her. "You... What do you... want?"

"Is it true?" Ariel asked her.

"What...?"

"Are the words your friend said true? Are you saying that all those things you said about my Raymond are true?" She asked, her gaze piercing into the very existence of the little naive girl. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"That... That..." She glanced back. There were people recording everything. If she could only make it look like Ariel was making a big deal out of what was the truth then it would all be in her favour. "Yes." She yelled. "It’s true. Raymond Stein is an illegitimate child. His mother was a prostitute so who knows if she really gave birth to a Stein’s child and not some unknown man’s child? He’s a bastard for sure." She boldly yelled and a hot slap dashed her face, sending her to the ground.

Lily was in disbelief. How dare she slap her?

But soon, her disbelief fell and she grew mortified seeing Raymond watching all this in the crowd of people. Did he hear her say everything just now? He didn’t do anything and simply watched but that did not mean he wouldn’t do anything later. She was done for.

"There’s a level to how stupid a naive girl can be." Ariel said and then turned to the other girls. "Are you going to apologise or not?" She asked but noticed that their gaze was all fixed in one direction, including Lily who just got slapped.

She turned and found Raymond. Everyone was staring at him in fear and wondering what would happen to the girls who had dared to mention his name so carelessly and insult him.

Ariel looked at the girls and closed her eyes. She was genuinely angry at their words but didn’t want it to let it affect her act.

"I’m mad." She muttered.

Raymond walked out of the crowd and approached Ariel. He took the hand she had used to slap Lily and caressed it gently. It was red.

"I’m supposed to be the one mad." He said and kissed her hand. "But I guess you got mad on my behalf. Thank you."

"Hubby," she called sweetly. "... They have to apologise to you." She insisted and he glanced at the girls, his cold eyes moving from one to the other, sending shivers throughout their entire body. Then, his gaze returned to Ariel but was more tender than what anyone could imagine. "It doesn’t look like they want to. Don’t worry, I’ll make them pay in my own way."

Hearing this, the girls grew horrified and they immediately got down on their knees to beg.

"No, we’ll apologise. We’re sorry. We’re very sorry."

"It was wrong of us. We apologise. Please, don’t hold a grudge."

They kept apologising but this did not quench Ariel’s anger. Rather, it made her more angry.

"So shameless." She exclaimed. "You should’ve done that sooner when I was asking nicely." She said and turned her back. "Now, you’ll have the rest of your life to regret ever spewing nonsense with your mouths."

The parents of the girls quickly hurried to beg Ariel and Raymond after hearing what had happened. They couldn’t afford to be on bad terms with Raymond. He would swallow their business in one fell swoop.

They came to this charity gala in order to make connections in order for their business to grow and not ruin their businesses.

In the end, Ariel decided to let things go. Though she was not the one who was insulted, she called the shots and Raymond did not have an issue following her will.

She didn’t forgive them because they begged, rather, she was worried about the thousand employees that would become jobless if Raymond were to ruin their company and make it go bankrupt.

And like that, the charity gala came to a close.
