Chapter 40: That is exactly why I think of myself as a big deal

Ariel hugged Raymond’s arm lightly and smirked.

"I got the wrong table." She said and he smiled.

"I guessed it." He pulled out the chair for her and let her sit before taking his own seat. This action did not go unnoticed and the people around started wondering who the lady with him was.

Few watched meaningless news so majority of the people present were unaware of Ariel’s identity as Raymond’s lover. Thus, it was understandable that the previous scandal was not enough to make the Stein’s make a move on him once more.

This time, they could get a strong reaction from them, since it was the appropriate gathering.

This charity gala was held by an unknown personnel but it’s initials was well known in the business world. When you heard the name ’Ultio’ you’d immediately know it was ’that’ famous electronics company. Who ran this famous company was unknown, as well as the meaning behind the company’s name.

Many did not know but the name Ultio meant ’vengeance’ and ’the last’ in Romanian and spanish. And were also very unaware of the company’s moto ’ex scientia ultio’ which meant ’From knowledge comes revenge’.

It’s secret meaning was ’The last revenge was for only those who were in the know’

The last revenge...

Raymond’s lips slightly curled in a grin as he sipped on his champagne. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

The gala went quite smoothly. No commotion and no confrontation. Everything was great and they planned to peacefully leave after making sure the news that Raymond Stein had a lover passed through every single person’s ear.

That is, till Ariel went to use the restroom.

"God, how long have I been sitting?" She complained since her back ached.

She was in the restroom toilet, throwing out all the food she had continuously eaten while they were seated. If not for the food, she might’ve had to die from boredom.

It was already evening and the gala would be coming to a close in about twenty minutes.

"It’s finally gone." Ariel said as she flushed the toilet. But just as she was about to open the door, a number of four girls walked into the bathroom, giggling to themselves and talking about how handsome Raymond looked.

"Really, if he wasn’t sitting next to that barbaric girl, the picture would be absolutely perfect." One said, unaware that that said barbaric girl was inside one of the toilet stalls.

"I know, right? Did you see that video of her at the boutique? It was hilarious how she was trying to act tough." They laughed and took their position in front of the mirror, attempting to fix their makeup.

"Whoa, there was a video like that? How come I didn’t see?" A girl with brown hair asked.

"I’ll show it to you later." They stood in front of the mirror and started fixing their make up. "I’d really like to get together with Mr Raymond. He’s a really good catch. I bet he has a killer hot body under that suit."

"It’s too bad he’s a bastard. My mom won’t even hear of it once his name gets mentioned." The girl with the pink ponytails said and another girl nodded.

"Yeah, I heard his mother was a prostitute. What a shame." They all giggled.

"Well, she must’ve been a pretty skilled prostitute because her son inherited the looks and charms that can lure any innocent girl into bed." A red haired girl said and they all laughed.

"But to be honest, at some point I thought he was gay."

"Really? Me too."

"How come?" Another asked.

"He never went around with any girl and refused all advances. At least, that’s what I heard. I wasn’t stupid enough to actually test out that fact for myself." The red haired said and laughed.

"Then the lady next to him only proves he’s not gay."

"Who knows?" The brown haired girl spread her lipstick across her lips and neatly smacked them. "But I think he can do better in picking a lover. I mean, let’s be honest, that girl is just too... Cheap." They all laughed.

"And I’m thinking you can do better when picking a lipstick shade." They all turned to see Ariel coming out of the stall and that startled them. "Seriously," she looked at her nails and then at them. "Red isn’t your color."

The girls were dumbstruck. Had she been there the whole time?

"You... How dare you eavesdrop on our conversation?" The red haired flared at her.

"What? Was I the one who told you to come in and run your mouths while I was using the stall?" She asked, tilting her head to be side. "Wait, don’t answer that. It’s insignificant."

"Look at you. Do you think you’re a big deal just because you came in with Raymond Stein?" The pink haired girl asked with her face contorting in anger.

"Why, how did you know?" Ariel laughed. "That is exactly why I think of myself as a big deal. After all, it’s not easy getting a Stein as a lover, I think you know that very well."

"This bitch. You’re nothing but a golddigger." The red haired flared once again, living up to the color of her hair.

"Really? I’d like to think that I like my hubby more because of his looks rather than his money." She just shrugged. "Oh well, whatever you think, I don’t really care." She said and then her gaze sharpened like that of a snake. "But what I do care is you snotty little brats calling my man a bastard. It’s unforgivable."

"What do you mean? It’s true that he’s an unlucky child with an unclean birth. His mother was a prostitute, who knows if she really gave birth to a Stein?"

"You don’t want to mess with us. Our parents are really wealthy."

Ariel was silent. This was the first time she was actually hearing of Raymond’s true origin. He was an illegitimate child just like her. Was that the real reason why he was going out of his way to help her? He said he pitied her. Did he pity her because he knew what it meant to be cast out like a venomous fly?

But seriously, were these girls dumb? In this age and time, if a person’s brother was being questioned, wouldn’t the best thing be to do a paternity test?

The girls noticed Ariel’s silence and thought she wasn’t that big of a deal, feeling she had gotten scared of their flimsy threats.

"Yeah, that’s right. If you apologize now, we might let this go." The red haired took her chances, lifting her nose in the air in pride.

Ariel looked at her and then stifled a laugh.

"I think you got it all wrong." She said and took a step towards them. "I’m not the one that needs to apologize." She said and stopped walking. "You four," she pointed at them. "You have a lot to apologize for. Of which you’re going to apologize to Raymond for speaking behind his back, for calling him a bastard and for insulting his mother." Her eyes flared.

"You... Do you know who you’re talking to?"

"I don’t and I certainly don’t give a damn about it." Ariel said and took one final step towards them, using her dominating aura to overshadow the four girls who thought they had seen everything in the world.

She glared at them, making them shrink in fear.

"So, are you going to apologize or do you need me to put you down on your knees?"
