I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 266: Imagine her as a wall
Serena laughed maniacally and shot the second bullet on Raymond’s other side, causing him to fall to his knees and she laughed more, loving the scene in front of her, whereas Ariel yelled in a loud cry.
"No, Serena, P-please stop! Please, no more." She cried but dared not to move too much, scared that she would set off the bomb with too much movement.
But her words weren’t getting through either as Serena played deaf to her pleas. She pulled the trigger once more and this time it was directed at Raymond’s chest.
"Ugh." Raymond grunted, gritting his teeth as he bore the immense pain that followed with each shot.
"Hm, do you feel it?" She asked. "The pain of your insides burning with bullets, and your inability to do anything about it. Do you see how useless you are?"
She shot the next bullet at his shoulder and this made him crumble but he was still alive, breathing steadily and struggling to hold on to whatever life he had left. He didn’t want to die, even if it was his choice to sacrifice himself for Ariel.
He had so many regrets and so many things he still wanted to do so he would definitely not die from a few gunshots. He just needed to hold on till ’they’ arrived.
Ariel couldn’t watch any further and screaming did nothing to help the situation, so she threw her face away in fear, gritting her teeth to hold herself back. She cried.
Tears rolled down her cheeks continuously as she couldn’t bear the pain in her heart.
And then, she started having flashes of memories that were both familiar and unfamiliar. The people in her memories were everyone she had recently come in contact with.
There were a few that she could point out to be bad guys and then there was... She recalled that night she was taken away before the bomb exploded.
Serena! She gritted her teeth even harder and turned to glare at her. She was the one behind all of it, the one behind her pain and suffering. She understood it better now.
"I see." She said and Serena glanced at her, wondering what she was going on about this time.
"Not pleading anymore?" She asked.
"What’s the use? I’m talking to a wall, and a wall wouldn’t respond even if you cried and begged for it to move, so I should just quit it and let everything unfold before my eyes." She said in a plain tone but it ticked Serena off.
"A wall?" Her expression contorted. "Did you just call me a wall?"
Ariel lazily glanced away from Serena, ignoring her the same way she ignored her. She looked at Raymond on the floor, his blood was making quite a large pool and she bit down on her lip.
This scene... It brought back a memory. A memory of the time she was in the pool of her own blood and he saved her and gave her a new life.
In the end, she was bringing about his downfall.
Why did he have to suffer because of her? Why was it always like that?
She was weak, useless, and a burden. This time, she didn’t want to cause anyone pain but no matter what she did not, someone would cry. Was there a need to think too much on this any more?
Raymond was dying in front of her, if she didn’t do anything, they would lose him. Rachael would lose him and she did not want that.
The excitement on Rachael’s face each time she played with Raymond, her real dad, she wanted to see that for a long time but it seems such a wish comes with great risks.
Serena suddenly grabbed her hair and forced her to turn her gaze at her.
"Look at me when I’m talking to you. Don’t ignore me, dammit." She yelled but Ariel did not shift her gaze and still stared pitifully at Raymond on the floor. "Are you shutting me right now? You’re annoying me right now. Maybe I should just set off the bomb."
Ariel slowly rolled her eyes from staring at Raymond and met hers in a gruesomely annoyed and cold gaze. Serena flinched and let go. For a second there, she got the chills and was scared.
She? Scared? How was that possible? The person in front of her was Ariel who couldn’t even get rid of a fly. Ariel’s expression indicated that she had suddenly become a different person with a deadly look in her eyes.
It looked like she wanted to challenge Serena but in contrast, those were the eyes of someone who no longer cared what the outcome would be.
If she died, so be it but she would not go down alone.
"The bomb is heavy." She suddenly said,
"What?"
Ariel tasked her face and smiled,
"Please take it off. You’ve won, haven’t you?" She said, "Since you’ve succeeded, there’s no one to go against you. If he’s not there," she almost choked back on her words since they felt so heavy in her heart. "...no one can do anything to you."
"Glad that you can see the big picture here." Serena said. "But I’m not a fool that’ll just let you go like that. You’re one of the people I need to punish, you know." She grinned and Ariel nodded.
Though she said this, Ariel knew for a fact that Serena had a weak spot for her, even if it was very little that she would immediately get rid of her if she tried to escape.
But it was worth the shot. She would use that tiny weak spot to get her.
"I understand. But would you please take the bomb from me? You put it here as a precaution but I don’t think there’s anything I can do to you. I can’t even walk. Well, there’s no way you’re scared of a weak person like me, right? If that’s the case then it greatly disappoints me."
Serena was silent.
Something kept eating at her thoughts. She wasn’t scared of Ariel. She didn’t even see her as a threat so why did she feel like the idea of taking off the bomb would cause trouble?
"I guess I was right." Ariel said and smiled. "You’re scared of me, aren’t you? Scared of weak and defenseless me. Haha."
Serena suddenly used the butt of the gun to hit her, causing Ariel’s right temple to bleed and she growled.
"Don’t suddenly start getting arrogant because I’m going easy on you. Me, scared of you? Get real." She said but since her ego was bruised, she decided to take off the bomb.
Ariel observed carefully. The weight of the bomb and how Serena handled it. Well, thanks to this, she was able to confirm something.
"There, happy now? There’s nothing to be afraid of from a little pest like you." She cackled and turned her back, took out her phone to send out some text messages but that was her greatest mistake.
The moment she let her guard down and turned her back for her enemy to see, she instantly doomed herself.
