I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 224: What the hell happened here?
Steve looked at them as they were fidgeting. They looked awfully suspicious and he looked behind them at the restroom entrance.
"We tried to warn her." One of them suddenly began and he looked at them. "But she wouldn’t listen."
"What are you talking about?" Steve asked with furrowed eyebrows. "Where are they?"
"The girl. The little girl... she said some rude things and my friend got mad. We advised her not to take it to heart but she was adamant and..." she paused and pursed her lips.
How was she so sure that what she said next wouldn’t implicate her.
"I’ll ask you for the last time." Steve said, his eyes becoming fierce as he glared through his glasses. "Where are they?"
"They... they’re still in the washroom." They answered.
"Lead the way." He adjusted his glasses.
"But...We have nothing to do with it. We..."
"I said lead the way." Steve yelled which brought about too much attention to them.
The girls saw that people were starting to stare so they decided to just show him the way before things escalated further.
Raymond, in the company of Paige and Skylar, looked towards Steve, wondering what had gotten him agitated all of a sudden.
Then, they realized Romeo and Rachael were nowhere to be found.
"No, don’t tell me..." Paige was yet to finish her words when Raymond hurried in the direction they went.
Seeing Raymond going there, they decided to go there as well. Everyone else wanted to know what was going on so they followed suit.
In the washroom, Joy had dealt seriously with the two kids. She hated them to the guts for no reason and did not have any problem bruising them seriously.
"You know, in a way, with my charms, I’m bound to get married to Raymond Stein and then, I will be your aunt." She snickered. "So take this as me disciplining you in advance." She pridefully said and spat at the side. "In this age and time, you won’t see anyone to correct your bad habits so don’t forget to thank me later."
Romeo and Rachael groaned in pain. They had never been beaten so badly before and were experiencing this sort of pain for the first time.
Yet, even while suffering like this, Rachael was still adamant on getting that apology.
"Apologize." She muttered. "Don’t speak about my daddy like that." Her words were so low that Joy couldn’t make out the words.
Romeo looked at Rachael, feeling bad. He couldn’t keep his promise to protect her. Just seeing how badly she was hurt, he wondered why he wasn’t strong enough to protect her. Why did he not have the strength?
Then, he reminded himself that he was just a little boy. There was nothing he could do against an adult.
"Tsk." Joy clicked her tongue after looking at her arm that was once again bleeding. The blood had stained her dress so it was not possible to go out like that and not get attention.
Suddenly, the door burst open and Steve beheld with his eyes the sight of his son as well as Rachael, lying on the dirty washroom floor all battered and bruised and the culprit was just about to leave.
Joy stood frozen in state. She thought she would be able to get away with it without anyone seeing. Besides, this was the girl’s washroom so what was this man doing there?
She spotted the two girls behind him and gritted her teeth, thinking they had betrayed her. No matter, she would just use her words to get away with it.
Unknowing to her, this was Steve. That same Steve that went around as Raymond’s personal doctor and also, the father of the boy she had so badly beaten.
"Oh, uh, these kids. They..." Steve simply walked past her and went straight to the children.
They were so badly beaten. What was wrong with her? How was she able to bring herself to hit these kids? They were so little... with so little flesh, so how... How could she hit them when there was nowhere to hit?
"I was just disciplining them since they wouldn’t talk politely." Joy said but Steve ignored her. Right at this moment, he didn’t know what to say or how to react but he did know one thing. Seeing his son in such a state hurt his heart.
This made him question if he had been doing a good job while taking care of him so far. Had he been negligent? Had he smiled enough to assure him that his father cared deeply for him?
He carried Romeo who muttered softly,
"Daddy." He simply nodded his head and carried Rachael as well.
"Mister, you need to understand that if a child goes astray, it will be the fault of the parents so I was just helping their parents out and..."
"By beating them to such an extent?" Steve glared at her. "You’re right out cruel with a black heart if this is your form of discipline."
Joy shuddered. She didn’t know what that was about but the way he held on to the both of them, something told her she knew the children quite well.
Would he tell their parents about her? Well, she didn’t do anything wrong. She was just teaching them a lesson. This is what happens when you cross the wrong person. This was her defense but the moment she made up her mind to feel light about this whole matter, Raymond walked in.
The first thing he saw was his daughter in Steve’s arm, groaning in pain. And then Romeo. His eyes shook.
What was this? Who did such a thing?
He looked up at Steve who looked aside as if guilty. But he knew he wasn’t the one. Then, was it her?
The lady with a bloody caramel dress, holding on to her arm and blushing lightly at having to see Raymond up close.
"What the hell happened here?" He growled and she flinched, remembering she had just beaten his nephew.
How was she going to go about this? She did not expect to be caught by him.
More crowds followed and gathered behind the door and she felt like she had been put on the spot. If she said one wrong word, she would get in trouble.
"Who did this?" Raymond asked, his eyes piercing deep into her eyes.
Joy decided to just go with whatever and use whatever excuse she could come up with. She put up her confidence at being right and sighed.
"Well, this little girl said a lot of awful things and I wondered who her parents were. She yelled and scolded me like I was a servant or something but when I decided to just ignore her and walk away, she grabbed my arm and wouldn’t let go." She explained and peeked to see if they were buying into her story.
Raymond’s angry expression did not shift so she decided to act more on it.
"I tried to push her away without hurting her but she held on too tight and eventually bit my arm. It felt like she was possessed or something so I decided to get her out of my hold by hitting her but she just kept biting deeper and eventually..." She showed her arm. "... Her teeth dug into my flesh."
People started murmuring behind Raymond but the only thing Raymond could hear at the moment were, ’I hurt your daughter. I hurt your daughter. I am the reason she looks like that.’
Joy was glad they were buying into her story. It wasn’t fair from the truth so she didn’t have a problem even if the kids retaliated.
"It was so painful that I tried to do everything I could to get her off then this boy, I believe he is your nephew but he went along to do what this little girl did and kicked my leg. Honestly, I was so scared that I was being targeted by the kids and I retaliated as well." She sniffled. "It hurt me, having to hit such little kids but I was scared and I..."
"In other words," Raymond stepped towards her. "you beat them up." He said.
"Um yes. But it was with a heavy heart. I could never..."
"You beat them up like they were punching bags and you want to make excuses for it." Steve yelled at her. "Sure, maybe they said a few wrong things and acted out of the ordinary but they are still little kids. They are so small, so fragile."
His body lightly trembled. The kids were close to passing out and she was making excuses? Was that something a human being could do? A lady who would later have her own kids?
Paige finally got through the crowd and she found Steve trembling like he was close to tears. She was stunned. She had never seen him react that way before.
But more importantly, why was her son looking like he was about to die? What was going on there?
"You." Paige held one of the girls who had led Steve there. "What happened here? What was so bad that she beat up my son and Rachael?"
