Chapter 215: Much appreciated, aunty

Not knowing how Jane got an invitation to the biggest event of the year, Alexa looked at her like she had been betrayed.

Jane was so excited as she narrated how she followed Romeo and Rachael to check out their outfit but she somehow caught the eyes of the designer who happened to have an extra dress she made out of boredom.

According to the designer, her face screamed of ownership of that dress so she decided to give it to her and it was for free because she eagerly wanted to see Jane sparkle in the dress.

"Wooo, great." Alexa said with no enthusiasm whatsoever. It wasn’t that she wasn’t happy for her but she couldn’t bring herself to be excited about it.

She was worrying about Rachael and the dress Jane was wearing was distracting her. What a traitor.

Well, the designer was right when they said Jane would sparkle in the dress.

’Did they get a stylist for her as well?’ she wondered, seeing how well refunded Jane looked with her wild curls finely tamed and her face glowing.

No, the glowing was probably because she was too excited.

The caramel body tight dress showed her body shape quite well and made her into the refined lady she never was.

"Ugh!" She exclaimed at the glow Jane was emoting nonstop.

She had slept all morning and no one decided to wake her up since it was mandatory to rest as much as she could. It was past noon and she had just eaten but was yet to see Raymond or Rachael.

’Raymond said he’d roll me out on the wheelchair but if he delays any further, I don’t think he’ll be able to make it before the event starts.’ Alexa thought with her head down. ’I’ve had the nurses wipe me down but I feel so much like dipping into a hot tub.’

The door opened with a little click and she looked up to see Raymond coming in with Rachael and Romeo.

Her eyes immediately fell on her daughter who looked nothing less than a princess. She, in her little caramel gown that went down to below her knee, showing the boots she was wearing underneath was just so adorable.

Her hair was parked up into one side of her head and neatly curled to look like a lovely spring.

"Mummy." Rachael called and left Raymond to run to her.

The spring-like roll on her head bounced and Alexa laughed.

"Slow down. Why are you still running like this when you’re dressed so nicely?" She asked and stroked her head after stopping her in her tracks. "You look beautiful."

"Thank you, mummy. Also, I have something for you." She said and Romeo stepped forward. He was wearing a little tuxedo with shorts but he still looked really good.

"Wow, you’re looking handsome as well, Romeo. My, I’m so jealous of you." Alexa wined, causing Romeo to blush but he held his head high, feeling proud.

"Much appreciated, aunty."

"Wow, even your speech is great. You’re bound to get a lot of girls pursuing you since you’re such a gentleman." She teased and he blushed even harder.

"I... I’m still too young to have a girlfriend, ma’am." He said, tapping the tip of his fingers together in a timid way.

"That’s not what mummy was trying to say so get your heads out of the clouds and come over here." Rachael scolded with a look of disdain and he quickened his pace.

She raised her head to Raymond who had been abandoned at the corner.

"You too, daddy." She called and Alexa finally looked up to see Raymond.

He was wearing a tuxedo as well. A gold tux. A high quality one at that. Well, that was to be expected of the wealthiest man in the country.

He looked handsome with his hair swept back. It was like he kept his image with a parted hair everytime just to avoid looking this perfect. He was a walking catastrophe.

"Mummy," Rachael called and Alexa snapped out of her fantasy. "I know that daddy looks exceptionally handsome today but please, try to focus. Okay?"

Alexa pursed her lips. Her daughter caught her in the act. How embarrassing.

Jane also pursed her lips, trying not to laugh and succeeded in keeping it in.

"Now," Rachael stretched her hand to Romeo asking for what she had prepared but Romeo seemed to have forgotten it.

She pulled him to the corner and asked with a little hushed tone. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

"Well, where did you put it?" She asked and he looked away, sweat slowly dropping down his forehead.

"I think I left it in the playroom." he said a bit anxiously.

"What playroom?" she asked with angry eyes and he shrunk down.

"The one at... the mansion." He said with a guilty expression.

"What?"

"Is something wrong?" Raymond asked them and they turned to him.

Rachael sighed and decided to give it a shot.

"Daddy, is it possible to go back and get what I forgot?" she asked with tears in her eyes. "It’s very important."

"Thankfully, Steve is still at the mansion." Raymond said but Rachael didn’t know if he would be able to find it since she couldn’t exactly say what it was.

"Is it really not possible to go back now?" she asked and Raymond looked at the time.

"If you’re worried about the time, I can take them back quickly and come back." Jane suggested, slightly raising her hand. "I know how to drive, as well as the way back so it won’t be a problem."

Raymond was hesitant.

"Don’t worry, I’ll just drive them back." He said and to Alexa, he said, "I’ll be back soon." He kissed her forehead and took the kids out.

Rachael was feeling a bit guilty and thought maybe it would be better to leave it till after the event but she felt if she didn’t show it to them now, she would regret it.

So many things happened and they obstructed her from showing them the drawing she made. Yeah, it might’ve been a simple childish drawing but it conveyed her feelings and how she saw them.

She badly wanted to tell them how she felt now before anything else cropped up and made it too late.
