I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 200: Maxie, let her go
Tracy was shocked and terrified. Did he say to take her to the police? Then, what would happen to her mother?
"Wait, yo-you can’t take me to the police. They... they’ll kill my mother."
"You selfishly put my daughter in danger just to save your family. Who’s to say that you wouldn’t do the same again?" He asked and turned to look at her. "Right now, I’m selfishly putting my daughter first so I don’t care what comes next."
Tracy was shocked. That little girl was his daughter? How was she his daughter? She has never heard of it. No, more importantly, she couldn’t go to jail like this.
Getting down from her bed in a frenzy, she tried to go after him.
"No, you can’t do this to me. I have to make sure my mother survives." She tried to hold him but the guards outside rushed in and grabbed her. "No!" She yelled. "My mother will die if you send me to the police. I can’t..." she cried out. "I... can’t afford to let that happen."
This was none of Raymond’s business and he headed for the door like nothing was happening.
Tracy lost all hope. Her mother would die because of her. The dream she had, the dream to set her mother free from all the stress she had to put up with from the moment she was born till now, she wouldn’t be able to fulfill it.
Tears streamed down from her eyes.
If she was going to be the death of her mother anyway, he would rather leave this world first and maybe hope that in her next life, she would be able to take care of her mother well.
She grabbed the gun from one of the guards and pointed it at her head.
"Hey." Steve yelled and Raymond turned to see what was going on.
He saw this hopeless girl at the end of her wits, pointing a gun at her head with tears streaming down her face.
"I..." the tears choked back her words. "I didn’t do all this because I wanted to." She cried. "All I wanted was to give my mother a better life. Is it my fault that we were deep in poverty? Is it my fault that I am powerless to the point that I can’t save her? Is it my fault that I... I am a useless daughter?"
Her heartfelt and broken tears reached the ground and she pressed the gun on her head.
"I didn’t ask to be used. I didn’t ask to be the death of my loving and hardworking mother. I didn’t ask..." she yelled. "... To be so useless that I’d bring my mother to her death."
Raymond seemed unaffected by her words but Steve felt it. The struggle of a poor girl who only wanted to help her mother in her struggles.
He turned to Raymond. Was he really going to let her kill herself?
"All this, just to save your mother, is it?" Raymond suddenly asked and then turned around to leave. "When you’re dead, I’ll be sure to tell your mother exactly how you died so get on with it."
Tracy was a bit confused. What did that mean?
Steve watched Raymond leave and then sighed. That was what he meant all along, wasn’t it? He knew he wouldn’t be so heartless.
"Put down the gun, we’re going to help you find your mother." Steve said to her. "And the reason he’s sending you to prison isn’t because you’re entirely guilty but just so the culprit wouldn’t try to harm you."
"But... isn’t staying in this place safer?"
Steve couldn’t deny that was true but it seems Raymond didn’t want to set his eyes on her at all.
He would be in the facility a lot longer because Alexa was still in the ICU and then the mansion, he would run into her from time to time if she were there.
’She’s not entirely innocent but I don’t think taking her to prison would be good at all. She may get bullied and might die in the hands of the other inmates once they notice she gets preferential treatment.’
Steve rubbed his forehead. What to do at a time like this?
"Mind if I cut in?" Maxwell’s voice came and they all turned to him. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
He was still in his biker outfit and looking as cool and calm as ever.
"When did you get here?" Steve asked but Maxwell simply smiled and went to where Tracy was standing.
Though he was in full support of Paige using this man’s sperm to get a child, he couldn’t shake off the feeling of hate he had each time he saw him.
It was something done out of necessity but thinking about Paige having this man sperm in her body, he loathed him.
Steve was not oblivious to this fact and he understood it quite well so he didn’t mind his attitude.
"You’re the girl involved in all this, hm." He got close and out of nowhere, slapped the gun out of her hand before grabbing her but her hair.
"Ahh."
"What are you doing?" Steve reacted harshly but Maxwell raised a hand to stop him.
"I’m just trying to get to know her better." Maxwell said but it didn’t look like that at all. "Someone’s been giving my sweet wifey a headache so I thought it would be great to find out who it was and break their skulls but apparently, I’m not supposed to harm them so it’s very infuriating."
Steve watched him with sweat rolling down his forehead. Maxwell was at it again. He was easily angered by anything that displeased Paige. He was calm most times and that was because Paige was never in danger.
The calm, supportive, caring and sweet husband would disappear as soon as he felt Paige was stressed by the existence of some nonsensical human.
Paige always handled everything on her own so for her to ask for help from him, he figured they were very troublesome.
’The sole reason she studied to become a psychologist was to cure you of this madness.’ Steve thought. ’But it seems your madness can’t be wiped completely as it has a on and off switch.’
Paige entered the room only to see Maxwell holding on to the hair of a weeping Tracy. She sighed and shook her head.
"Maxie, let her go." She said and Maxwell turned to face her.
"Wife, isn’t she the one causing trouble?" Maxwell asked with a dangerous smile.
"No, she’s not." She said and got closer to him, grabbed his hand and rubbed her face on it. "Do you want to know who’s got me troubled?"
"Who is it?" Maxwell asked, subconsciously letting go of Tracy.
"Come, I’ll tell you outside. Raymond wants to see you first."
"I won’t go to see him unless wifey tells me who it is that’s troubling you." He held her face and brushed it with his thumbs. "Look, you’re having wrinkles already."
Paige sighed once more. The remedy to this rarely seen madness was simply to butter him up with what he liked and the only thing he liked, the only person rather, was Paige.
The only one who could calm him down was Paige. She felt she wasted her time being a psychologist because at the end of the day, no social words needed to be said before she could calm him down.
"What’s wrong?" Maxwell asked, looking sad as she furrowed her eyebrows.
"You hurt someone innocent." Paige said, pointing at Tracy, though she knew quite well that he would never apologize.
"I let go, didn’t I?" He asked her. "Besides, she was holding a gun so I saved her from herself. I did good, didn’t I?"
Maxwell looked at her with an expression that said he needed to be complemented. Sure, he got here as soon as she called, and took the gun from Tracy so he did something good.
"Alright." She grabbed his face and kissed his cheek.
Maxwell grinned and glared at Steve at the back.
Steve could only shake his head at the level of childishness Maxwell possessed.
"Maxie, Raymond wants to see you." Paige said and Maxwell nodded.
"Okay, lead the way." He said and Paige led him out of there while he glared at the shivering Tracy.
Steve shook his head. Maybe taking Tracy to the station was safer than anywhere else. If Maxwell got a hold of her, she was a goner.
As much as he looked innocent when he was with Paige, he was a very dangerous man with scheming antics.
Raymond didn’t want to resort to this but it seemed he would need to use him in order to find out who this ’Henry’ was and who he was working for.
"So, you want me to find this Henry guy?" Maxwell asked a bit more sensibly than his earlier behavior.
"Yes." Raymond answered.
"That won’t be a problem." Maxwell said and folded his arms. "I can just squeeze out the information from the guys I caught at the harbor."
Paige looked surprised.
"You found them already?" She asked and she grinned.
"It was supposed to be a surprise gift." He said to her. "But anyway, you’re surprised enough."
"Maxwell." Raymond called and he raised his head to look at him. "Find this Henry and the person he’s working with. I want to know who it is that dares mess with me and my family."
"You got it." Maxwell said and stood to his feet. "But once this is over, you’ll have to listen to a request of mine. How’s that?" He proposed and Raymond wasted no time to accept.
"Deal."
