I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 196: He’s coming for me
Raymond had the maids prepare pancakes on Rachael’s request. He watched as she joyously ate it. He wanted to feed her but he didn’t really know how to feed a child. Plus, she was so adamant on eating alone.
Rachael was unconscious all through the night so when she woke up, she had a huge appetite waiting for her.
He watched over her the entire night and hardly got to sleep a wink. But at least, he was able to see her wake up. That was all that matters.
"Daddy." Rachael called and Raymond looked up to see her stretching a fork holding a chunk of pancake. "Won’t you eat with me?" She asked him.
"I will, Rachael. But right now, I’d just like to watch you eat." He said but she shook her head.
"That won’t do. I can’t have you watching me eat. You look like you haven’t slept all night or eaten anything. I get that you’re worried about me but I’m fine right now so won’t you eat? For my sake?" She pleaded earnestly and Raymond knew he couldn’t beat that.
"Alright." He said and her face lit up. She turned to the maids.
"Bring more pancakes, please." She smiled.
Romeo watched them and smiled as well. She was back to her smiling self.
"Me too. I’ll have some pancakes." He said, raising his hands up in excitement.
"And more milk too." Rachael added and Romeo repeated.
"More milk. More milk."
Raymond watched them and a smile played on his lips. He closed his eyes for a moment and then opened them.
After eating, Romeo gave out a loud burp but immediately covered his mouth and said,
"Excuse me." Rachael laughed and he smiled awkwardly.
"Rachael, it’s time to take your medicine." The nurse at the side said and Rachael nodded. She willingly took the medicine but at the end, made a disgusted face.
"The pills are so bitter." she frowned and then Romeo stretched out a few candies he brought out of his pocket.
"Here." He said and she looked at him.
"Aren’t those yours?" She asked but he shook his head.
"I got them for you. I hate the bitter taste of medicine so I know what you’re going through." He said, smiling like a fool and Rachael laughed.
"Thank you."
"That’s very thoughtful of you." Raymond said, patting his head.
"Uncle, you can put Rachael in my charge. I’ll take good care of her for you." Romeo boldly offered and Raymond said,
"That’s good but... How confident are you that you can take care of her?"
Romeo looked at Rachael and then at Raymond. He wasn’t very sure because he was still so small but he was sure that later, when he was all grown up, he would do an excellent job.
"When I grow up, I’ll take care of her and protect her." He boldly said and Raymond flicked his forehead. "Ouch."
"Remember what you said today. My daughter will be in your charge while I’m not with her." He said which was completely unexpected.
"Daddy, are you sure it’s not going to be the other way round?" Rachael asked and they both turned to her. "Are you sure it’s not going to be me taking care of him? After all, I am older."
"Haha, let’s see then." Raymond said, ruffling her hair the way he did Romeo’s.
Romeo couldn’t understand Raymond’s words but he smiled anyway.
Rachael yawned. It seems her medicine has a dose for sleep.
"Daddy," she called with a sleepy tone. "... Will you sleep with me?"
"Do you want me to sleep with you?" He asked her.
"Only if you’re... not busy." He smiled at her.
"Then, when... can we go home?" She asked and rested on him.
"Soon." He said and she slowly nodded.
Rachael closed her eyes and in her half sleep state, she said,
"I miss mummy."
This word hit Raymond in his heart and he pursed his lips. Sure she would miss her. It had been more than a week.
This strong little girl in his arms was doing quite well when it came to holding back her longing and tears.
"Uncle," Romeo called and he looked down at him. "Is Rachael’s mummy not going to wake up?"
This question... so even Romeo was worried.
"She’ll wake up." Raymond said. "Let’s leave Rachael to sleep."
"I think I’ll stay here and watch her." Romeo said. "You already allowed me to take care of her so I’ll start now."
Raymond nodded and made his way out of there.
He walked along the halls, passed the ICU ward where Alexa was recuperating. He watched from the window and sighed. He couldn’t go in, for fear that he would break down right there.
He walked on. Just as he passed through a certain ward, the doors burst open and the blonde lady rushed out. She saw Raymond and immediately clung on to him while with an utterly terrified expression.
"He’s coming for me." She said in a state of fright. "He’s coming for me, I just know it. Save me."
Raymond was confused as he looked down at this frightened lady. This facility wasn’t exactly opened to the public and the only people who were admitted, he knew all of them because it was with his permission that they were admitted. But he didn’t know this blonde lady.
’Blonde.’ he thought with furrowed eyebrows. ’Is she the one Paige was talking about?’
She clung on to Raymond tightly. He noticed her arms were bleeding. She must’ve forced the drop out of her hand.
"Hey." He called but she frantically shook her head.
"I don’t. I don’t want to go with him." She looked up with her dilated pupils. "Didn’t you say we would get married? Didn’t you?"
Raymond was taken aback by her words. Was she being delusional?
She looked like she was frightened of something and the way she clung to him. What was wrong with her?
He glanced inside the ward. There was no one in it so who exactly was she running from?
"Get a hold of yourself." He yelled at her and she stopped trembling, looking up at him with eyes that soon grew teary.
Raymond was beyond confused.
"Hey, get a hold of yourself and take your hands off me." He tried to get her hands off without hurting her but she was adamant to sticking close to him.
"No, don’t take me back to him. No. Let’s get married already." She said and Raymond frowned. What was this nonsense?
Skylar, who had just heard the whole of the story, was headed in their direction when he saw Raymond pushing down a lady.
"I told you to get your hands off me." Raymond growled, glaring down at her and frightened, she burst out in tears.
"Hey, what’s going on?" Skylar asked.
