I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 150: She’s not sad
Alexa looked at Rachael with scrutinizing eyes. What did she talk about with Raymond? Guessing her daughter wouldn’t say anything, she gave up and sighed. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Alright, just sit still while I work, okay?" She said and Rachael nodded.
"Don’t worry, I won’t move from this spot."
"I’m counting on it." Alexa said and got up. She went to sit behind her desk and started working.
Rachael keenly watched her mummy for a while before shifting her gaze to the door. She wished the mister would just walk in from the door but she knew it was impossible.
She looked away and kept staring at her mummy. Her mummy worked quite meticulously and she couldn’t stop staring. She felt that this was a lot more fulfilling than staying home alone with the babysitter.
Just then, the door opened and Rachael’s attention immediately traveled to the door with a bit of expectations but the one who walked in was not Raymond, it was Jane.
"Hi." Jane said, smiling heartily and Rachael sighed.
"Hey, Jane. I haven’t seen you in a while." Alexa said.
"Well, you know. I’ve been running here and there so I was practically invincible." Jane said and giggled. "Hello, little Rachael. How are you?"
"I’m fine, thank you." Rachael simply said and looked away.
"Huh? Is it just me or does she seem sad?" Jane asked in a little hushed tone.
"She’s not sad." Alexa said. "But she’s not that happy either."
"Anyway, why isn’t she in school? I thought they resumed yesterday." Jane said and Alexa turned her chair towards her.
"Well, things happened and I removed her from that school." Alexa said, shocking Jane.
"What? Was it that serious?"
"They were bullying Rachael." Alexa said and the words alone made a thud on her chest. Jane looked at her with a dumbfounded expression and she furrowed eyebrows.
"What?"
"That’s the summary of it all." Alexa said and turned to her desk. "She’s alright now but Jane, please look out for anything suspicious, okay?"
"What do you mean? Did something else happen?" Jane inquired and Alexa looked over at Rachael.
"Let’s talk outside." She said and got up. "Rachael, mummy will be outside for a minute, okay?"
"Yes, mummy. I’ll be right here."
Alexa walked out with Jane who couldn’t help but look at Rachael with pity. She was such a sweet little girl. How could they bully her?
"Jane." Alexa called and Jane came out from the office.
"How did this happen? Tell me everything that happened from the beginning."
"First, calm your nerves." Alexa said and gave out a deep breath.
She started from the beginning when she discovered Rachael’s behavior at home. Jane might not have noticed it because Rachael had the habit of acting lively outside the house and when she was with other grownups.
But she inclined herself in front of other children. She thought she was just shy to be among her peers but then the behavior she put up at home...
At first she didn’t put too much meaning to it but then Serena said such heartless and cold words.
She immediately knew that Serena had something to do with her child’s abnormal behaviors.
And then there was the part of Raymond Stein, how Rachael grew overly fond of him. Following that was the argument she had with Serena, the mini cameras, and the school. Everything was just a big mess and she was thinking about a lot of things.
"I don’t know but I feel Serena is hiding a lot of things from me." Alexa said. "What if she’s not my real sister?"
"You have every right to doubt, Alexa. I mean, come on. Mini cameras? That’s over the line." Jane said and sighed. "I noticed this before but I felt if she was good to you then I didn’t need to worry."
"What did you notice?"
"She’s sinister." Jane said and for some reason, Alexa got goosebumps. "It’s not like I’ve seen her do anything bad or that she said bad things but... my gut feeling kept telling me she wasn’t a good person." She lowered her head. "I felt if I told you that then you would hate me. After all, she was a kind and caring sister to you."
"I understand." Alexa said and covered her face. "But I’m still quite confused on what to do."
Jane placed her hand on her shoulder and said,
"Bad people shouldn’t go unpunished." She said and Alexa nodded. "And I’m guessing you’ve already thought of that but feel there’s nothing you can do, right?"
Alexa nodded with her lips pursed.
"She’s someone powerful, Jane. I don’t want to get Rachael implicated in a dangerous situation." She explained with an expression Jane had never seen.
Alexa looked troubled and scared. She wasn’t scared for herself but for her daughter who was the very innocent victim, she knew that but it was a first.
"What should I do, Jane?" Alexa asked and covered her face once more. "I’m scared."
"Don’t be." Jane said, placing her hand on her hands. "You’re a strong girl, Alexa. You can always fight your way out of this."
"But I... "
"Don’t think about it. You’re able to do it, okay?" she assured and pulled Alexa in for a hug. "Don’t worry, it’s all going to be okay."
"Alright." Alexa’s voice was low.
Jane understood the gravity of this situation with the way Alexa explained and the scared expression she had on her face.
"Alexa, take the week off. Move out of that house and try to stay hidden from Serena." Jane advised.
"I can’t do that. I have... "
"Listen, Alexa. I know you love your students and your patients but this time, you have to think of yourself first. Your safety is what matters, understand?"
Alexa was silent for a while and Jane sighed.
"Do you still want to think this over?" She asked but Alexa shook her head.
"That’s not what I’m thinking about." She said, "Jane, I’ve heard you out and I understand. I’m going to move out so help me with this."
"What?"
"Help me find a house." She said with her hopes up. "Serena is probably watching my every move so I won’t be able to find a house on my own."
"Yeah, sure. I can find a house for you. In fact, I’ll gladly do it." Jane said and Alexa nodded.
"Thank you. I’ll... take care of the rest."
"Won’t you take a break? You need to rest, Alexa" Jane said and Alexa smiled before saying,
"Don’t worry, I’ll rest."
