Chapter 120: In the past, he had White too

At the sound of that, Raymond raised his head. Steve nodded and said,

"She wanted, more than anything, for you to crush those who scorn you. Destroy those who sneer at your back and wipe out anyone who dares to act arrogant in your presence. That is the kind of man she fell for and that is the kind of man she would wish for you to remain, if she were still here." He concluded and pursed his lips.

He got up from his knees and patted Raymond’s shoulder.

"Her funeral is in a week. Though we don’t have her body, it’s respectable to leave her with a gravestone. To leave ’them’ with a gravestone." He rephrased his words and kinda wished he didn’t. "I’m sure you get the message so why not try to pick yourself up and be the man she loved. That day, don’t disappoint her by looking all shabby."

"What’s the point? She’s no longer here to see me or love me." Raymond said.

"But she is here in spirit." Steve countered and dropped something on the table before him. "I’m waiting for your response. You’ll either choose to let your enemies triumph over your downfall or crush them till there’s nothing left to speak of."

He headed for the door, opened it and glanced at Raymond one more time before sighing. He walked out and closed the door.

"How is he?" Edward asked, looking older than he did two weeks ago thanks to stress and anxiety.

"He’ll come around." Steve said. "Just give him time."

Raymond dwelled on Steve’s words. To live in a world where Ariel no longer existed, how was he going to do it? How did he do it in the past?

In the past, he had White too. And now, these two important factors were no longer available. To live or to give up. The choice was his.

His heart badly wanted to give up but his mind wanted to live. He wanted to live for Ariel and make her proud but he didn’t have the heart to live on without her. He couldn’t do it.

His eyes fell on the thing Steve dropped on the table and he picked it up. It was Ariel’s ring. The ruby ring she loved so much.

He kissed it and started sobbing. How was he going to live without her now? Just how?

The one who made this happen was already in hell, if not, he would’ve made his stay on earth even more miserable than hell for him. But at least there was still Leo. He would pay for the sin of his brother.

His mind suddenly flashed back to when Ariel asked him to go with her. If only he had gone with her, they would have certainly been able to avoid this crisis. It was his fault. It was all his fault.

"Sorry." He sobbed. "So sorry. I’m sorry Ariel. I’m the reason why you’re dead. I’m so sorry."

Taking Steve’s advice into practice, Raymond decided it was time to pick himself up and pay back what he got in ten folds.

During Ariel’s funeral, Raymond paid his last respect and said goodbye in a rather calmer manner than expected. He kissed the white chrysanthemum flower before dropping it on the stone plate underneath her gravestone that had her name carved in, and then, he made a vow.

Grazing Ariel’s ruby ring which he was now wearing on his pinky finger, he said

"I swear, they will all burn."

Those simple words carried the gravity of the world and as he turned his back on the gravestone, his eyes turned cold and shallow, ready to take revenge on behalf of his family.

Raymond made his comeback. He took over everything and handled things like he was never gone.

Leo was skinned. Yes, he was practically skinned alive on a daily basis. Each day, a part of his skin would get peeled off and his scream would echoe in the woods where no one lived.

Raymond made sure he suffered more than his brother who was in hell. He didn’t do it himself, it was done by an expert but even at that, he was still not satisfied. It couldn’t fill the void in his heart.

Raymond finally announced that he was the founder of Ultio. This news caused Philip to have an instant stroke. This was the result Raymond was expecting but it wasn’t enough. He wanted this man to suffer. He wanted him to watch how his strong and mighty family crumbled in the hands of the illegitimate child he had so much despised all his life.

Yara was sent to a mental asylum, partnering with Clara and Martha, of course and there, their lives remained miserable. As for Serena. She was a lady of her own stance.

She didn’t care if the family was getting destroyed or if they were being prosecuted, she had funds and connections in other countries to keep her afloat. Such a wild lady knew exactly how to sneer at her enemy from afar and go into hiding.

Serena was as devious as they come. She could decide to stay in another country and even with his influence, he wouldn’t still be able to get her. It was as if she knew all this would happen in the end so she prepared for the long run.

Finally, Philip gave up the ghost. Death was too small of a punishment but there was nothing Raymond could do. They couldn’t keep him alive to suffer and so, he got off lightly.

"Heh." Raymond sneered. "Watch from hell, how I swallow up your legacy. I won’t let you rest, you must turn in your grave with every move I make."

Raymond rightfully got the title as family patriarch but as soon as he did, he did the most unbelievable. He swallowed the Stein’s fortune whole and absorbed them into Ultio.

This shook the business world a great deal and the country at large. Many wondered if he was crazy while others saw it as madness but he wasn’t bothered. He did this and still didn’t stop there.
