I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 103: Her mother’s necklace
Ariel threw her gaze aside while pursing her lips. She told him what happened, now what was he going to do?
Raymond reached out for her and touched her head, gently stroking yo the side. She looked up at him to see a concerned expression on his face.
"Are you alright?" He asked her in a gentle tone and for a moment, she remembered what White said about Raymond having feelings for her.
Was it true? Maybe White misjudged it. Maybe he was just being paranoid and came to such a conclusion. Maybe...
"Ariel." Raymond called. "Speak to me."
"I’m... Not alright." She said and strings of tears found their way down her cheeks. "Raymond, I feel really bad."
Raymond hugged her and pressed her head against his chest. He stroked her hair. Seeing her sad expression equally made him sad.
He heard all that she had to say concerning her conversation with White and honestly, he didn’t know what to say. Even if White did all he did out of jealousy, it was never justified. He had to pay for his crimes.
"I’ll take care of this." Raymond said to her. "So, stop thinking about it."
"Alright." She said, "Raymond," she suddenly called. "... I want to know. Is it true?"
"Is what true?" Raymond asked her and she moved her head back from his chest, staring into his eyes. He was honestly oblivious and something within her told her not to ask so she kept it to herself.
"It’s nothing." She said and left his embrace. "Let’s leave."
She started heading towards the mansion and he watched her. Her back looked sad.
"Ariel." He called her and she turned her head to look over her shoulder. "I have something for you."
"What is it?"
Inside, Raymond sat Ariel down in the living room while he went up to get something. She silently waited for him, while thinking about a lot of things.
She heard footsteps approaching and looked up to see Edward.
"Oh, good evening." Ariel greeted him with a smile.
"Good evening, Miss Ariel. How are you feeling?"
"I am very much fine. Thank you." She responded cheerfully and Edward nodded.
"That’s nice to hear." He walked away and she watched this back.
Raymond returned shortly with a little blue box in his hand. He gave it to her and asked her to open it.
"What’s in it?" She asked, slightly shaking the box.
"Just open it." He insisted and slowly, she opened the box.
In the blue box was a necklace she never thought she would set her eyes on again.
"Ah." She exclaimed and picked it out of the box. "How... How did you find it?" She asked him in disbelief.
"It wasn’t difficult to track." Raymond said and Ariel looked at the necklace.
The silver necklace in her hand was her late mother’s necklace. It used to have a red ruby attached to it but she sold it off a long time ago just because she was scared she wouldn’t have money to give back to Marco after he sent her out to steal.
And since she sold the ruby, she kept it aside and never wore it again.
Marco sold it after doing away with her but Raymond found it and not only that. She covered her mouth in disbelief, tears slowly brimming down her cheeks. In the box was the red ruby. He found the ruby as well.
"How...?" Her lips quivered. "Just how?" She looked up at Raymond who looked at her warmly.
"I found it to make you happy." He said and reached out his hand, taking a drop of tear in his finger. "And not to make you cry."
"These are happy tears." She claimed and he chuckled.
"I know."
Ariel pursed her lips. How could she repay him for all he was doing for her?
This necklace... Even if she never saw her mother... Even if she had no idea what her mother looked like, she felt connected to the necklace. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
The little feeling of comfort she got when clenching on to this little necklace left to her, gave her the feeling that her mother was with her in spirit.
This little piece that she left her made life a percentage less difficult.
"Thank you." Ariel said, her tears flowing down more heavily than before. "Thank you." She repeated.
She felt so touched that she couldn’t help but cry.
"Ariel." Raymond called, a bit worriedly.
"Please, just give me a minute." She requested, while trying to hide her face.
"Ariel." He called again and this time, she raised her head, only to find him kneeling before her.
"What are you...?"
"If this is how you’re going to be, I don’t think I’ll be able to tell you anything touching from now on." He teased, wiping her tears with his hanky. "Maybe I should refrain from surprising you like this in the future."
"No, I like the surprises." She said, wiping the remainder of her tears with the back of her palm.
"But you take it the wrong way. You always cry." He said and her face flushed in embarrassment causing him to laugh. But even amidst the laughter, he expressed his worries. "It worries me."
"I don’t know how to express my joy other than crying." She said but he shook his head.
"You shouldn’t do that." He said to her, "You cry when you feel pain and hurt, you cry when you’re hungry and you cry when you’re happy. How am I supposed to know what is what?"
"I don’t cry that much." Ariel refuted.
"Really?" She nodded. "Then promise you won’t cry again today." He took her hand and kissed it. "If not, I won’t say what I have in mind."
"Alright." She immediately agreed as if she had full control over her tears.
Ariel looked her in the eyes. She was serious about it but would she really be able to hold herself from crying? He decided to trust her confidence.
"Alright." He said and took the box from her. "Ariel, we’ve been through a lot." He said to her, "And I enjoyed every moment I spent with you. I lost myself in the past and after your appearance, I found myself. Don’t mind what White said, I am not perfect. No one’s perfect but I wish I could be perfect, for you."
Ariel pursed her lips as she listened to his words.
"I made you cry, I made you hurt, I made your life difficult but from this point on, I would like to do things the right way. I want to be someone you can rely on wholeheartedly. I want to be someone you can run to when you’re sad, happy, moody. I want to be the one you do all those things with. Will you let me?"
Ariel looked down at him. His words sounded strange.
"Well, yeah. I rely on you already. I’ve already shown you all my sides and I have no one but you." She said, "Besides, I can’t leave. If I do, I won’t have anywhere to go."
Raymond was silent for a brief moment before he asked,
"So, if you found somewhere else you can go, will you leave me? Will you part ways with me and say goodbye?" His words sounded heavy on her and she immediately shook her head.
"No. I won’t go. I’ll stay with you. My place is with you, Raymond."
"Ariel, I love you."
