Twelve days to plan a wedding was indeed hectic. Aila had even lost weight from stress. Now she knew most brides wanted to lose weight for their wedding days, but she was happy with her figure and was looking more fatigued and ill than glowing and vibrant. Nairi, Chiara and her mum did help with planning a lot of it.

Still, the Luna could see the effort everyone was putting into her day, and nobody complained about it. Everyone, including other pack members, was sent out to complete errands for them and was happy to do it.

The whole pack seemed to be buzzing with the upcoming wedding, and because of how well the public responded to the press conference and the new reports about Alpha King Damon and Alpha Queen Aila’s wedding would be live for everyone to see.

Of course, the public wasn’t aware that the second wedding was mainly a publicity stunt, in some terms, though nobody minded. As long as it helped werewolves into human society, that was all that mattered. Plus, the other leaders in W.S.H.O would be there, which also gave humans an insight into the other supernaturals as well.

Aila knew women were not about to complain about the man candy that would be videoed. She wasn’t talking only about the leaders, but most werewolves had body figures that humans worked hard for or dreamed of having. It was what they admired and fawn over.

With men that walked around with eight packs and mainly were 6ft and over, broad backs and chests, she knew a lot of people would tune in. The she-wolves all had the figures that women died for and what men lusted after. So, that wedding was going to be fun. Aila couldn’t wait to see viewers’ responses.

It was going live on the news and on WatchTube, where viewers could make their comments as well. Aila couldn’t see it until after, but it also made the second wedding special in a way as well. Right now, though, she was prioritising the one she most looked forward to.

Two days before the wedding, Aila was officially allowed to relax and leave the rest to everyone else. She didn’t think there was much left to do, but Nairi, who had been walking around with a clipboard and helped with most of it, was still rushing around like there was much left.

When the Luna tried to help, the she-wolf pushed her away and told her to get some sleep, get some food in her, and have her nails, skin, and hair done.

Now, Aila hadn’t grown up as a ’girly girl’, but she honestly wondered what else she needed to be done before the big day. Her nails, she understood. But skin? Hair? Didn’t she need to be put together on the day, not days before?

Aila found out by the end of the day what Nairi meant and had been to all of her appointments. She was both feeling slightly better and a little sore. Her hands and feet were looking snazzy now, with them polished and manicured. For her skin, she had gone to a spa on their estate she didn’t realise they had.

Aila had a full body exfoliation, a body wrap where she had been wrapped up in some sort of overly large foil with oils inside, and then had a full body massage. Luckily it was a she-wolf who did it all, though she could still feel her mate’s jealousy coming through the bond. He wanted to be the one to massage her.

But they both knew his massages moved onto time in the bedroom, and they did not have time. They really didn’t. Their wedding was so close that Aila was dealing with nervous butterflies going on a rampage in her stomach.

As was tradition, Aila and Damon were separated the night before their big day. The Luna even put a stop to ’sexy time’ for a few days to make it more special on the day. This was incredibly hard. Both of them had such high libidos.

The morning of the big day, Aila woke up in her parents’ old room. They’d had it refurbished, ready for when Aila and Damon would become the only official Alpha King and Queen. There were good memories in the room, and although Clint and the hunters took her parents away from her, she was already living in the packhouse. It was time to take the Alpha King and Queen’s room, their rightful place.

Aila stretched out her arms, taking in the new style of the room. It was painted a light duck egg blue, the panels of the walls remaining, keeping the regal air of so many centuries of Alpha Kings and Queens. The furniture had all been replaced, and the ensuite bathroom had been changed.

The bed the hybrid was now sitting up in had sheer white curtains flowing down from the white wooden frame, the size of the bed big enough to fit more than a few people in. Of course, that wasn’t why Aila and Damon would have it. They like to roll around a lot, and this gives them plenty of room. She hoped it wouldn’t break anytime soon, though it cost a bit more, importing it from abroad.

The suite had plush sofas, a coffee table and a luxurious, updated fireplace that took up the space of half the wall, providing light when it was on. Above it had a tv screen, though Aila knew the only time they would have it on was when they wanted the noise to keep the others from hearing them.

She wanted to soundproof the room initially, but it felt like an idiotic idea if anyone ever attacked the packhouse.

Everything was fitted out for the new King and Queen, and even the old balcony where she first watched Damon from afar had been repainted, with a table and chairs set up and some potted plants. Waking up to a room like this, with its newly painted and new furniture, cleared her mind of good and bad memories.

Now they would create their own.

Panic seized her after hearing people rushing around working. What time was it? Did she sleep in too long? Aila looked to the side table where her alarm clock was and sighed. It was past 10am, and she was surprisingly well rested.

Surprising because she was so nervous about going to sleep the night before. Yet here she was. Feeling the nerves in her stomach again, the Luna knew she had to keep herself distracted until the evening. There was no point worrying all day. It would drain her before the ceremony even began.

Why did she think an evening ceremony was a good idea? Oh, that was right, it was to see the full moon in all its glory. Aila got out of bed, determined that she would get through the day, and if she needed more than one nap, then as the bride, she was allowed it.

It wasn’t long after she had breakfast in the usual spot that Nairi, Chiara, Esme and Mandy arrived. There was going to be more pampering and somehow a whole day of getting ready. Even Esme seemed chirpy and not her badass, chilling self. She was smiling away and being overly helpful.

Aila still couldn’t believe this was the girl who had acted so anxiously in front of her the first time they met. Here she was, not awkward or antisocial or the lone wolf that Gabriel had told Aila about a few times. After hearing the troubles they’d been through from the Vampire King and working with Esme, Aila knew she wanted to be close friends with the she-wolf.

To stay away from Aila, which apparently seemed almost impossible, Damon was kicked out of the packhouse and thrown into one of the guest houses. He wasn’t alone, though. The other guys stayed to keep him company, including Gabriel, Ajax, Aldric and Harry. Finn was the only one who couldn’t relax with them. His job was to protect the Luna.

It was unfortunate because Aila wanted Finn to be with Damon, but they couldn’t do anything about it. He was responsible for her security. The Luna also walked around with more than just Finn as her guard now. Though they remained at a good distance as instructed by her.

Darren had only just recovered. It turned out that the silver bullet was laced with wolfsbane, which made sense if the order’s hunter’s goal was to kill the Alpha Queen. She rolled her eyes again, just thinking about it. They had to be amateurs because Aila was known to be a hybrid now, and she could control the lycans. Not that she would abuse that power.

While Aila was being dragged off by her overly excited and happy-faced friends and mum, Damon’s regal and husky voice came through her mind making her bit her lip and stopping the spread of her smile.

"Darius and I don’t like that we can’t see you until later. This is torture in itself, mate. Is this so brides and grooms can do a last-minute run?" He grumbled.

Aila was in the middle of getting a facial while mind-linking him back. "It’s bad luck and a tradition most follow through with."

Damon snorted in response. "Ridiculous. So I’m asking again.. Is this so they can make a quick getaway? You know you can’t run from me. You’re already bonded with me." Aila could hear the smile in his voice, the pride radiating through the bond.

This day was all for her. They didn’t really need it. They were mated, marked and bonded for life, the equivalent of being called husband and wife in the human world. But being brought up the way she did, Aila had always dreamt of a church wedding. Well, it was no longer a church wedding, and she was happy about that. There was still the traditional white dress, though.

Two white dresses, to be correct. Aila had two human weddings, after all.

"Do I hear a bit of nervousness there?" Aila joked back as she sighed in contentment at the cucumbers placed over her eyes. She was ready to drift off again, but before she did, Damon responded.

"Never, baby. I can’t wait to see you later."
