How to Tame a Villain Character-Chapter 94: One Last Chance
Chapter 94: Chapter 94: One Last Chance
Hearing Sarah’s story, pieces of Linnon’s memory, and all the oddities related to Harris and Linnon, Claudia began to dig up information about the background of Harris and Vivian’s relationship. Claudia hoped that this dinner would be successful, so that she wouldn’t have to assume much anymore.
Claudia refused Harry’s invitation to have dinner together at their house in order to talk directly with Harris. However, Claudia used another excuse to prevent Harry from ruining her plans.
Claudia invited Harris to dinner at the restaurant Claudia used to frequent. Seeing Harris’ face, which still looked innocent, Claudia really hoped that what Sarah was talking about was just a coincidence and that Harris didn’t do it on purpose.
"By the way, it’s true that you’re not dating your husband. Is it because you were fighting with him?" Harris laughed dryly while sipping wine.
"Harris, you’ve always been honest with me, right?"
"Of course. I always talk to you honestly. Why are we playing secrets?"
"Even if my status is now Harry’s wife, you won’t lie to me, right?"
Harris rolled his eyes and folded his arms. "Why are you acting like this all of a sudden? Did Harry incite you?"
"He never instigated me. But, for some reason, more and more I feel like there’s something strange about you."
"What do you mean?"
"All the strange incidents happening lately definitely have something to do with you."
"It was just a coincidence. Yes, I hang out with them, but that doesn’t mean I’m involved too!"
"Okay, just forget what I said earlier. Now I want to ask you straight to the point. Have you ever fallen in love with another woman?"
Claudia deliberately asked that question to test what Harris’ reaction would be. Moreover, she could see Harris’s nervous and very tired face as if he had done a lot of activities at night. If Harris had never done it, why couldn’t he have answered that simple question quickly?
Harris tried to cover up the tired expression on his face before his ex-fiancé suspected it. Even though he did vigorous exercise all night with Vivian because he couldn’t hold it in anymore. If one day Claudia found out, he was sure Claudia would kill him right then.
"Me? "I’m innocent like this and busy working. I have time to play with other women?"
"Who knows, maybe you’ve felt bored living alone since I married Harry."
With an intense gaze, Harris touched the back of Claudia’s left hand. "I couldn’t possibly give my heart to another woman. You’re the only woman I love until now."
Claudia released the touch of Harris’s hand slowly. "Don’t say that out loud. Later someone will gossip about us and Harry will be angry if you even touch my hand."
"Even when you broke off our engagement suddenly, I never scolded you or forbade you. I would willingly give you to Harry."
"Is it true? You’re not spreading strange rumors, are you?"
"There’s no benefit in me doing it. My sins increase if I create hoax news."
Still, Claudia was suspicious of Harris’ activities at night. Then, what is more suspicious is what was Harris’ purpose in coming to the port early in the morning even though Harris was drunk on board the ship? Was Harris’ meeting with Vivian aimed at doing something illegal?
Claudia paused her questions for a moment. She enjoyed several pieces of steak to prepare herself for the next session of war.
"By the way, I heard information from Harry, you visited the port at dawn. What are you actually doing there?"
Harris chuckled in annoyance, giving his ex-fiance a serious look. "You’re suspecting me now?"
"No. I’m just curious. Because there are already two people who have given me reports. Then, the person you met was Vivian."
"How did you know?"
"I got this information from Edward. He saw you with Vivian."
"Then, because he saw me talking with Vivian, you assumed that Vivian was my girlfriend?"
"I assume it is just a matter of fact. I just want you to straighten out what I said."
For a moment, Harris took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly. "I was with Vivian at that time. But, Vivian is not my girlfriend. How could I be dating Harry’s ex-girlfriend?!"
"Then, what did you do with her all the way to the port? Then, you two talk at dawn. Shouldn’t you still be having breakfast or preparing yourself at home?"
"Actually, I’m seasick. However, Vivian deliberately invited me to meet because she wanted to ask for my help in accompanying her on a ship survey. She plans to buy a boat to see the view of the lake."
Hearing Harris’ reasons to become increasingly suspicious, Claudia was sure that there was something odd about Vivian’s request at that time. "Surveying ships early in the morning? Why not just do it in the afternoon?"
"You know, women really hate having their skin exposed to sunlight. That’s why she asked me to help accompany her at dawn."
"Then why did she have to ask you for help?"
"Because the pier is controlled by the Harperwood family and not everyone can access it. She didn’t dare ask Harry to accompany her, so she asked me. Besides, she will often go to the lake to create new paintings to display in his gallery."
Claudia nodded while enjoying the steak which was starting to cool. She doesn’t know whether Harris just randomly made up the story or not, but what Harris told had nothing to do with the cause of the damage to the yacht’s sail. If the perpetrators weren’t Harris and Vivian, then who destroyed the yacht’s sail?
"Claudia, now it’s my turn to ask you something."
"What do you want to ask?"
"Even though you are Harry’s wife, you still trust me, right? You never thought of me as your enemy?"
Claudia laughed awkwardly. "You’re my ex-fiancé, I never thought of you as my enemy."
"I’m grateful. I thought you hated me now."
"But, if I find another side of you, especially regarding negative things, I will consider you my enemy."
