Chapter 150: Chapter 150: Another Big Problem

Claudia’s body immediately collapsed when she heard the sudden report from the police. Her eyes filled with tears and her breathing became increasingly labored until her hands spontaneously patted her chest.

Harry was still confused about what made his wife’s mental condition become unstable. He showed his empathy by patting his wife’s shoulder briefly.

"What’s wrong, Claudia?"

"Harry... my parents..." Claudia cried screaming until her voice started to become hoarse.

"What’s wrong with them?" For a moment, Harry wiped the tears that continued to roll down his wife’s eyelids.

"I have to... visit them now! I have to make sure the police don’t lie to me." Claudia immediately got up from the park bench, her body still weak.

The report submitted by the police to Claudia was that Claudia’s parents were found dead in a traffic accident. Hearing this bad news made it difficult for Harry to control his anger. He drove his sedan at full speed towards the scene while holding his wife’s hand which was covered in cold sweat.

Seeing his wife’s breathing increasingly labored, Harry couldn’t do anything because he was ordered to deliver her as quickly as possible. In fact, he was really afraid that his wife would faint when she saw her parents die.

The journey from the palace to the accident site did not take too long. This area has been cordoned off with a police line and many police have rushed out to investigate the accident experienced by Claudia’s family. The paramedic team lifted a person’s body covered with a shroud to an ambulance.

Claudia ran out of her husband’s sedan and approached one of the paramedics who was lifting the body of the accident victim. Even though the police officers blocked her, Claudia remained stubborn and removed the shroud covering the body.

"No!! Father!!" Claudia screamed as she hugged her father’s body covered in blood tightly.

One of the paramedics held Claudia’s body, who still wanted to hug her father. "Sorry, Duchess Claudia. You can’t hug your father because it will ruin the results of the investigation."

"Please... save my father."

Then, another paramedic appeared and lifted another body covered in a shroud as well. When she opened the shroud, her body immediately fell to the asphalt looking at her mother’s body which was covered in blood and her lips were grayish. Her crying became more and more intense until she almost ran out of breath. Even though she had been calmed by her husband’s embrace, her mental condition was still unstable witnessing the sudden death of her parents in this world.

"Please... save my parents’ lives."

Harry hugged his wife’s body tightly. He still hasn’t spoken to his wife since arriving at the accident scene. Because for him, there was no point in calming his wife with words alone. In fact, what his wife needs right now is sincere love.

"Please... my father and mother were still healthy last night. "My husband and I can still contact them," said Claudia, her voice hoarse from continuing to scream since arriving at the accident scene.

The paramedic team also couldn’t do anything. If they approach the victim’s child, they will actually be in trouble because they failed to save the victim of a fatal accident. They could only report their findings when they arrived at the accident site to the Duke.

Harry was forced to leave Claudia for a moment to discuss this with the paramedic team and the police. Even though he couldn’t bear to look at his wife, he continued to cry until he almost ran out of breath.

"What exactly happened?" Harry asked in a cold tone.

"We received a report from a pedestrian who witnessed the accident directly. The road conditions at that time were very quiet and suddenly the victim’s car was hit by a truck at high speed. As a result, the victim’s car was destroyed and the victim could not be saved."

Hearing the report from a Lieutenant who handled this deadly accident case, his temples ached. "Is the identity of the perpetrator revealed?"

"It’s very unfortunate that the perpetrator immediately ran away after hitting the victim’s car. The CCTV cameras along the road also happen to be under repair."

Harry massaged his temples as he looked down in resignation. "Were there signs of torture before the victim died?"

"No. In fact, we also felt strange that the accident the victim experienced was not an ordinary accident. We will try our best to catch the perpetrator, Mr. Duke." The lieutenant’s eyes looked weary as he looked at the victim’s daughter who was sobbing from a distance. "We would like to apologize for being late to the location."

Harry returned to his wife who was sitting in the ambulance. Anyone who tries to calm his wife’s currently unstable mental condition always ends up failing. Now he was the only one who could calm her down even though it was quite difficult. Losing their parents at the wrong time, especially because they had promised to have dinner with their family today, now they can no longer meet their warm family.

His strong arms took the initiative to hug his wife’s body, which was still trembling, with great affection. His lips were still tightly sealed because he felt it was inappropriate to say many words. Because he was afraid that what he said would not comfort his wife, but instead make her even more tormented.

"It’s all my fault," Claudia whispered softly.

Harry pressed his lips to the top of her head. "Don’t blame yourself, Claudia."

"I should have gone to my family earlier. If only I weren’t selfish, I could see their smiling faces one last time."

"Your parents’ death was not your fault."

"I failed to protect my own parents both times, Harry. My heart feels pierced by transparent thorns."

Harry’s forehead furrowed. What does failing to protect a second time mean? As far as he could remember, Claudia’s parents had always lived in good health. Is his wife hiding something from him?

"We have to leave this place. Don’t let your body and soul remain fixated on the accident site. Even though you are still unwilling to let your parents go, we must hold a proper and honorable funeral for them."
