How I Tamed My Wolfish Husband Back in 80s-Chapter 198 - 200: Cried Out of Anger_1
Chapter 198: Chapter 200: Cried Out of Anger_1
This side, Qin Jin first went to a photography studio to hire a photographer and then followed the address given by Li Qiao to search the vicinity of Cheng Shuqin’s home, taking up a stakeout position at an inconspicuous alleyway entrance.
About an hour later, two young men emerged from the alley, one tall and the other plump.
He felt that they very much resembled the people his wife had described, so he pulled out the portrait for comparison and couldn’t help bursting out with loud laughter:
"Hahaha...."
The drawing had nothing in common with their actual appearance, yet it captured their essence perfectly—the tall one was stooping, neck stretched out, while the plump one’s cheeks bulged in an arc.
They were recognizable at a glance.
The two ruffians directed their gaze over upon hearing the sound, only to see Qin Jin bent over with laughter. They were displeased at once. "Hey, dumbass, what’s so funny?"
Qin Jin subdued his laughter, his eyes full of menace, "You’re the dumbass! Did I laugh at you?"
"You punk, from the countryside, huh? Daring to refer to my father like that without inquiring about my well-known reputation around these parts." The taller one clenched his fists and lunged at Qin Jin, planning to teach him a memorable lesson.
The photographer stumbled in fright, thinking to himself, He didn’t hire me for this, right?
Regardless,
If he got dragged into it, he’d just run.
After all, the young man had already paid him.
Qin Jin sidestepped swiftly, tripping the assailant with an effortless extension of his long leg.
The guy fell face-first into the dirt, rage mixing with embarrassment, and called the shorter one over to help.
Qin Jin knocked one down with a single punch.
The taller one hit the ground again, spitting out two teeth. Knowing when to cut his losses, he quickly begged for mercy.
Qin Jin cursed, calling him a coward and slowly inquired, "Do you remember what you did last Saturday night?"
Both punks immediately thought of the beautiful girl they had accosted, their faces turning ashen. Fearing another beating, they took turns speaking rapidly, pouring out their story like beans spilling from a bamboo tube. In the end, they said, "We were tricked too." They didn’t even dare to think about the students from Beijing University.
After all, there stood the school.
To offend them was to make an enemy of the university, right?
But Cheng Shuqin had clearly stated that the woman had approached them willingly—who wouldn’t be tempted by a highly educated beautiful woman?
Little did they know that the lady was more fierce than a man, and they had suffered aches for several days after the beating.
Just when they had recovered, another seeker of vengeance appeared.
They really had a streak of bad luck.
Qin Jin’s fury only intensified, daring to lay eyes on his wife! He ordered the two of them to slap each other, to keep it up until his anger subsided.
The two ruffians felt extremely wronged, yet they didn’t dare to resist and followed Qin Jin’s command—you slap me, and I’ll slap you back.
Passersby couldn’t help but cast curious glances their way.
...
Cheng Shuqin, who had gone out, was dumbstruck upon encountering this scene.
The shorter one noticed her first and pointed at her direction. With his swollen face affecting his speech, he spoke to Qin Jin, who was observing from the side, in a muddled tone, "She, she, just like... just like what she said."
From where Cheng Shuqin stood, she couldn’t see Qin Jin, nor could she make out the thug’s words clearly. She assumed that the two of them had run into an enemy and gotten dealt with.
She thought to herself, serves them right!
"Cheng Shuqin...." The shorter one, with his swollen face, rushed up to stop her, his speech unclear, "Why did you talk to us about that, that young woman, as if she’s for sale?"
Cheng Shuqin realized they were talking about Li Qiao.
But Li Qiao had stayed at the school for a week without mentioning to anyone the incident with the thugs. Could it be that Li Qiao had actually been victimized by the two hooligans and out of shame, didn’t dare to speak of it? Was that why she hadn’t dared to return home at night and had chosen to stay over?
Wild guesses filled her mind as she planned to walk away as if nothing had happened.
Feigning ignorance, she said, "What young woman? I don’t understand what you’re talking about."
The two men belatedly realized they’d been played by Cheng Shuqin, exploding with fury and threatening in their speech:
"Dare to make fun of us—you’ll see!"
Cheng Shuqin wasn’t scared at all. Her father was on the patrol team, and the local toughs could only intimidate her a little. If they really dared to mess with her, they’d be the ones to suffer. "I don’t understand what you mean," she said and walked straight on.
The photographer, following Qin Jin’s instruction, also captured Cheng Shuqin talking with the two thugs in the same frame.
Qin Jin whispered, "Go back and develop the photos first."
Once the photographer left, he quietly followed Cheng Shuqin.
The two thugs thought Qin Jin was still hiding behind the roadside tree, watching, not knowing whether to leave or stay.
They slapped each other until they could slap no more, and when they heard no sound from Qin Jin after a long time, they mustered the courage to look behind the tree, only to find no one there.
The two realized they had been fooled again.
....
Qin Jin followed Cheng Shuqin to a deserted spot, picked up a stone, and secretly threw it at her leg.
Cheng Shuqin screamed in pain but, turning around, didn’t spot anyone suspicious.
After turning a corner and walking a bit further, she abruptly turned back, only to see Qin Jin about ten meters away from her. She didn’t recognize him and had no inkling that he was the one who had thrown the stone.
Seeing that he was handsome and poised, and he kept looking at her, her heart beat faster. She took the initiative to wait for him to come closer, her voice tinged with interest, "Hello, are you following me? Do you want to be pen pals with me?"
Qin Jin had been contemplating how to beat someone up discreetly, but the path was too open with nowhere to hide, and he had been about to head home. Hearing Cheng Shuqin’s words, he immediately turned sullen, "Who’s following you? Do you own the public road? Don’t flatter yourself! You’re ugly. At first glance, you’re ugly, and you’re even uglier up close! Scram." With that, he stalked off.
Cheng Shuqin was so angry she cried. By the time she recovered, Qin Jin had disappeared. She remembered to hurl an insult back, "You’re the ugly one..."
...
After getting things done, Qin Jin headed home, passing by a shopping mall and turning in, as his wife had a sports event the next day and he wanted to buy a gift for her.
A win would be icing on the cake; a loss, and he’d cheer her up. He browsed around and bought a pair of plush dolls.
Once home and not seeing Li Qiao, "Grandma, where did Qiaoqiao go?"
"Walking the dog."
"Didn’t you say you were going to walk it when I left this morning?" Qin Jin said.
Old Mrs. Qin, "It’s time for another walk." The dog, used to roaming free at home, whines if tied up for more than two hours. His granddaughter-in-law suggested taking it outdoors to run to its heart’s content. "Today, Qiaoqiao played the erhu; it was so beautiful and made me proud in front of Jiang Wanqiu."
Qin Jin wasn’t surprised; if she could become Top Scholar, learning an instrument would be a piece of cake. "I’ll go find Qiaoqiao."
"Where will you find her?"
Qin Jin, "Didn’t you say the countryside?" All he needed to do was look around the nearest farmland, and he’d definitely find her. He cycled out and two kilometers from home, found Li Qiao standing on a ridge, gazing into the fields where the dog was running around happily.
"Qiaoqiao."
Li Qiao snapped back to reality, smiling sweetly, "Back already? How did you find me?"
Qin Jin explained and then recounted his day, deliberately leaving out the part where he hit someone.
Li Qiao gave a thumbs-up, "Impressive!"
Qin Jin was not satisfied, "Compliments are cheap. How about something real?"
Li Qiao looked around, making sure no one was in sight, then held his face and kissed him several times, "Is that real enough?"
"Almost," Qin Jin grudgingly admitted. "It would be better if we could go into that grass hut over there."
Li Qiao chided, "In your dreams!"
Qin Jin laughed, "Grandma said you can play the erhu?"
Li Qiao played it down, "Just messing around. After all, no one appreciates it."
Qin Jin thought to himself that she was fooling no one.
The two chatted on and off, until the dog, having had its fun, came over to them and pawed at the leash at Li Qiao’s feet, signaling to be leashed up for the trip home.
Li Qiao first petted the dog’s head, then attached the leash and led it home.
