How Did I Become an F1 Driver?-Chapter 574 - 247: Old Friends
After putting everything away, Qin Miao took out the scarf that Qimeng had embroidered for her mom. Although it's still midsummer and there's no need for a scarf, there will be a time when it's useful.
Handing the scarf over to her mom, she said, "Qimeng specially prepared this for you. The peony on it is stitched by her, and I watched her do it stitch by stitch. It took almost two months."
Her mom didn't show any disdain, and once she got the scarf, she treasured it immensely. She tried it on immediately but took it off soon because it was too hot.
After removing the scarf, her mom looked at Qin Miao suspiciously and asked, "Where's Meng? Why didn't you bring her back? Is it right that I've only seen my daughter-in-law on TV recently?"
Qin Miao lay down comfortably on the sofa and said, "She went back to her own home, she should come over tomorrow. Also, Mom, I'm hungry."
Knowing that Qimeng would be coming over tomorrow, her mom didn't dwell on why Qin Miao didn't bring Qimeng back today. She turned and went to the kitchen. After expertly putting on an apron, she said, "I didn't know you were coming home today, so I didn't prepare anything to eat. Is instant noodles okay?"
"What's wrong with instant noodles? Are they expired?" Qin Miao wondered.
Her mom responded, "Aren't you F1 drivers supposed to follow a strict diet? Like junk food and high-calorie foods are off-limits."
Qin Miao waved it off and said, "That's for others. Your son is exceptional, I can eat anything."
"Are you sure?"
"Yep, my therapist and physical trainer don't care about what I eat. You can check online if you don't believe me; there's probably something about me."
"Alright, then. You go watch TV in the living room for a bit. There's some dried fruits and stuff that the neighbors brought over in the cabinet. If you're really hungry, go eat some."
Qin Miao nodded and began rummaging through the usual snack cabinet at home. Casually, he asked, "Who's this Fan you're talking about? Isn't it Uncle Zhang's house next door?"
"Uncle Zhang's family moved away ages ago. The Fan across the street, wasn't she your classmate?"
Qin Miao was taken aback, a classmate?
It took him a while to remember that Uncle Zhang had moved away before he went abroad for a race, and the person who moved in afterward was his high school class president, Fan Yue.
Speaking of Fan Yue, it's quite interesting. The last time he saw her, he was showing off in front of her.
Now looking back, Qin Miao realized it was really unnecessary then.
After all, they were classmates. And flaunting after winning on the race track felt even better, with lasting satisfaction. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
After pulling out a few packs of dried fruits, Qin Miao curiously asked, "Do they bring them often?"
"Not really. With everyone staying at home these days, Fan was worried I'd run out of things to eat alone. So she often comes over to check on me and brings some food, even though I told her no. She insisted.
Now when I receive gifts, I usually give something back as well."
Qin Miao nodded understandingly.
While munching on the dried fruits, he said, "By the way, Mom, where's my car?"
"Do you need it?"
"No, just didn't see it when I got back, so I was curious."
"I lent it out. Your cousin's son is getting married, and knowing we have a Ferrari, he wanted to borrow it as a wedding car."
Qin Miao nodded. After seeing more and more cars, he just regarded them as a means of transport now.
Anyway, no matter how fast those supercars are, they can't beat the speed of his W12 on the track.
The only thing Qin Miao was curious about was his 488. Although it had two seats, they weren't exactly spacious. As a wedding car? Could they even fit?
In less than ten minutes, a steaming bowl of noodles was ready, with two poached eggs and a special pepper oil from Qin Miao's hometown. It was incredibly fragrant and flavorful, a taste he grew up with.
Taking a bite of the noodles that tasted just like he remembered, Qin Miao sighed, "Mom, you have no idea how much Qimeng and I missed this taste while we were abroad."
"Then eat as much as you want while you're home. If you really miss it, have Qimeng bring some local pepper oil to the UK."
"Yeah, yeah."
...
After eating and drinking to his fill, Qin Miao was about to clean up the table, but his mom stopped him: "You've had a long day traveling. Let me clean this up. You should take a shower and rest early tonight."
Qin Miao wasn't tired, but seeing the caring look in his mom's eyes, he didn't say anything. He nodded and went to rest.
The setup in Qin Miao's room hadn't changed at all. Judging by its spotless condition, someone clearly cleaned it regularly.
A silent night passed.
The next day, Qin Miao got up early. He slept really well, and after waking up, he felt full of energy.
Because of home quarantine, his mom hadn't been going to work, so Qin Miao saw her when he got up.
"Oh, by the way, Mom." During breakfast, Qin Miao said, "Qimeng and I were thinking of having both families meet sometime. After that, since we're of age, we plan to get a marriage certificate."
Originally a bit groggy from waking up, his mom's eyes suddenly sparkled: "Really?"
