The breakthrough came not from Gao Ming but from his parents. Xuan Wen discovered that whenever she sent Gao Ming home, his parents would appear to find him again and again.

However, to Xuan Wen’s consternation, when she travelled back to real life to conduct her investigation, Gao Ming was indeed an orphan. The person closest to him was his girlfriend, Liu Yi. There was nothing related to his parents. However, whenever Xuan Wen sent Gao Ming home on the rainy Han Hai nights, there would be a couple who claimed to be Gao Ming’s parents who came to fetch Gao Ming. Gao Ming would also think they were his parents.

At this point, Xuan Wen had a scary hypothesis. An orphan’s file could be easily falsified. What if Gao Ming didn’t come from Xin Lu but was from Han Hai?

On the bus, many kids remembered being saved by Gao Ming on the night of the Hungry Ghost Festival. The school also had Gao Ming’s employment data. However, during the investigation, everyone’s description of Gao Ming was vague. They had a superfluous connection to him. Maybe Gao Ming preferred to be alone, but Xuan Wen considered another possibility: An Unmentionable had changed the human consciousness.

She had no direct evidence, so she turned her focus back to Han Hai. She wanted to figure out Gao Ming’s background in Han Hai. However, all the evidence showed that Gao Ming was not a ghost trapped in Han Hai. He was an everyday, ordinary man.

However, his existence proved to Xuan Wen that something horrifying was arranging something expansive and terrifying. She had to be more careful. She looked into Gao Ming’s parents and finally discovered something.

At the same time Gao Ming exited the tunnel, or rather, when Gao Ming reawakened inside the tunnel, couples who claimed to be Gao Ming’s parents would walk out of a building at the edge of Han Hai. The building was submerged in the black mist and appeared to be stuck in a time rift. Xuan Wen didn’t know how the building came to be. She once glanced through the half-open door. To her surprise, the inside was decorated welcomingly. It was a very normal home. She could only approach that building when Gao Ming’s parents showed up. Xuan Wen called this place Gao Ming’s home. All the anomalies and secrets surrounding Gao Ming should be hidden in Gao Ming’s home.

The records ended there. Xuan Wen didn’t tell anyone what she saw in the end. The record was destroyed after Gao Ming finished reading it.

Gao Ming took out the key and his birthday death portrait. The sentence was clearly written on the back of the picture, “To my dear son, you are an adult now at 18. You’ll be your own parent. You’ll get the key to the home.”

“Does the key refer to this key Xuan Wen gave me? She took the key before me?!”

Gao Ming massaged his temples. He had the key and knew that his home existed, but he didn’t know where his home was.

“I feel like I’ve forgotten something important. I need to return to Xin Lu to ask Xuan Wen!”

Gao Ming wanted to know what had happened to him. However, compared to that, rebuilding the Blood City was more important so that everyone would stop being enslaved. He waved his arms. The faceless disciples moved all the tools in the station into the torture room. They moved even the bricks and tiles.

“I owe you one.” Gao Ming turned to tell the leader of Team One. The latter shrugged. He didn’t take it seriously.

They left the station. On the way, the leader of Team One updated Gao Ming on the things that had happened in Han Hai. They were heading towards Han Hai East City.

“Faced with tragedy, the citizens of Han Hai exploded with unimaginable desire to live and adaptability. A lot of self-rescue organisations mushroomed in Han Hai. They used different methods to survive. There is no bottom line.” The leader sighed. “Compared to Han Hai, Xin Lu is like a greenhouse plant. We have been sheltered too much by the world’s saviours.”

“The two cannot be compared. Han Hai is a cage used to trap the evil ghosts from various Blood Cities. The ratio of criminals is abnormally high.”

“You’re right.” The man became Gao Ming’s driver. He drove Gao Ming to the East City Investigation Centre. This place was once Situ An’s work office, but it had been taken over by the student council. It became the largest rescue centre in East City. The original gate was taken down. Gao Yun probably did that to inform everyone that there was no threshold stopping anyone from entering his territory.

Just as Gao Ming exited the car, two men with student council badges walked over. They looked over forty. It was quite amazing that they called themselves students.

“I’m here for your president, Gao Yun.” 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

The figurine of the God of the Future appeared in his eyes. Gao Ming scanned the building. After he confirmed the location, he walked into the building. All the student council members stopped to stare at Gao Ming. They returned to normal and continued with their busy work after a few seconds.

“The student council is like a delicate war machine, and every member is a part. Their consciousness is united by the president to form a sea of consciousness. They are very powerful.” The leader whispered, “Citizens who have supernatural power will consider joining the horror game players, but most normal citizens would join the student council or the investigation centre.”

The building was more than twenty floors tall. Situ An’s office was on the top floor. However, Gao Yun was different. Gao Ming picked up a powerful presence on the second floor, inside an inconspicuous room. He hadn’t reached the door, but it had already opened from inside.

“Who would have thought you’d become a Dream Ghost before I do?” The student council president of Han De Private Academy appeared. He still wore his old school uniform and the student council badge.

“Shouldn’t you be dead?” Gao Ming was very direct.

The president’s expression didn’t change. “In the God of the Future’s neighbourhood, I stole their meat vessel. Currently, my actual body is regrowing. Therefore, I have to wear this old set of clothes to meet you. I hope you don’t mind.”
