“She was fine a minute ago. Why did she lose her mind all of a sudden?”

The white band around Tang Ling’s wrist beeped. Many red emergency numbers requested to communicate. The workers looked at each other. They didn’t dare to answer the calls. They had seen many strange things while working for Tng Ling. Red unique warning numbers were one of them. Whenever red numbers called, something scary would happen. At least some researchers would go into a deep coma. In the worst case, the whole lab would be sealed. After a long hesitation, the oldest researcher answered the call. The red warning light lit up for a moment. Everyone’s black bands were taken over remotely. The cameras in the room swung about. All the doors and windows started to close.

“Stay right there. No one is allowed to leave without my permission.”

The voice from the bands was chilly and emotionless. No one in the lab dared to go against it. Everyone lowered their heads respectfully.

The sirens entered his ears, but Gao Ming didn’t care. He stepped on the flicking red light. He went deeper underground, guided by the power in his heart. Using Tang Ling’s ID, Gao Ming opened the door in the dark. He was greeted by an altar about the size of an adult.

“Found it.”

The altar was the altar Gao Ming saw before he entered Dream Break Town. It was the grandest prize Dream had left Immortal Pharma. Dream Break Town was built with its foundation. This altar used to belong to Dream. The altar doors opened, and the God of Flesh and Blood’s figurine sat inside. The Blood City Tattoo crawled all over the altar. The tattoos crawled over the butterfly pattern. Gao Ming swallowed it into his heart. Gao Ming was unwilling to go against Immortal Pharma when he first left Dream Break Town because he needed time to find Ah Fang and Xia Yang. Now that his goals had been completed, he stopped hesitating.

“Dream is the scariest Unmentionable. He is not limited by the blood city. You are too weak compared to him. Taking his altar is too high of a risk.” No. 2’s voice came from Gao Ming’s heart. No. 2 was very special. Even the torture room couldn’t isolate him from the outside world.

“Is the difference of power levels between Unmentionables that big?” Gao Ming didn’t know anything about this.

“Very big. The rules of every blood city are different. To use Xin Lu Blood City as an example, they go from Animated Regrets, Lingering Resentments, Pure Hatred to Unmentionables. Normally, Unmentionables are the top limits. However, based on factors like the altars and powers, Unmentionables can be further delineated into three levels: Unspeakables, unhearables and unknowables.” No. 2 was a patient teacher. “When one becomes an Unmentionable, even at the first level, normal people and ghost cannot mention their names. Once you do, you will be sensed by the Unmentionables.”

“Is that the typical Unspeakable?” Gao Ming asked sincerely, but it stumped No. 2. This was the first time he heard people put Unmentionable and typical in the same sentence.

“I suppose so. The scarier Unmentionables are the Unhearables. Even if you don’t mention them, if you hear or sense any information related to them, you’ll be affected.” No. 2 described calmly, “I once reached this level. I had many altars. I was there but also not. With a thought, I could influence everyone in the intelligent city.”

“How did you end up like this if you were so strong?” Gao Ming didn’t mean any malice. He was straightforward.

“Because the unknowables had intervened.” No. 2 was worried, “It was the Unknowables who almost destroyed Xin Lu’s Dream. They were so strong that they were beyond the blood city’s control. They had no enemy in the inner world. You can never tell what they’re thinking, and you’ll never know when they’ll appear. You cannot even describe them because most of the time, when you know of them, you’ll die.”

Gao Ming slowed down. He was shocked. “So… There’s an Unknowable hidden inside Immortal Pharma?! Were you trapped by it?”

“Don’t worry. The Unknowables are too powerful to leave the inner world fully. I was tricked. They were hidden in the dark, and I was ambushed.” No. 2 finally got the chance to mock Gao Ming, “Are you scared?”

“No. Since the Unknowable, Dream, has been killed, nothing killable is that scary.” After Gao Ming said that, No. 2 went into silence.

“We still remember Dream, so it means he is not dead.” No. 2 reminded Gao Ming, “We were too lucky to be able to entrap Dream. It wanted to use the channel to enter the real world and live in everyone’s brain. His consciousness, soul and altars were split. We paid heavily to stop him. Anyway, we should stop talking about him. You need to be careful so Dream doesn’t awaken in you.”

“Compared to Dream, I’m more curious about No. 0. Two of the managers of Project Han Hai have been assaulted. How can he not do anything? What do you know about him?” Gao Ming was very curious. In Tang Ling’s dream, No. 0 was labelled as ‘Ghost. ’

“No. 0 was the world saviour’s code. It represented the highest access in Immortal Pharma. The current No. 0 is probably not a living person. It probably came from one of the blood cities. He might be in contact with the Unknowable who ambushed me.” No. 2’s voice was audibly distorted. He immediately shut up. “We cannot say more. It is sensing your location! Run!”

No. 2 ended the conversation. He was unwilling to discuss more about the Unmentionables with Gao Ming. He was trying to protect him. With a Dream Ghost in him, the common researchers couldn’t stop Gao Ming. After they left Tang Ling’s lab, they walked down the abandoned road in the Xin Lu countryside and escaped the city. The night was glittering. This was a scene Gao Ming couldn’t see in Han Hai. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

“What do you plan to do next?” No. 2 was very comfortable in the torture room. He had been trapped for so long that changing a new cage was refreshing.

“Find helpers.”

“Where?” No. 2 thought Gao Ming was special.

“I’ll return to Han Hai to release the other Dream Ghosts.” Gao Ming placed his hand over his heart. He lowered his head as if to share a look with No. 2. “Xin Lu might fall into chaos.”

“Do you think I’ll stop you? Stop joking. I’m a ghost with only a brain left.” No. 2 said lightly, but it couldn’t cover the sadness in his voice.
