Chapter 40- Nemesis (Part 3)

"Obsessive? Hahahaha..." Virgo seemed completely taken aback by Rein’s question. He blinked slowly before he exploded into a fit of laughter. It was as if he heard the funniest joke ever. "You think I’m obsessed... with you?"

"..."

"No, no, no." Virgo said as he grinned at Rein. "I’m just a man who loves a challenge, Rein. And you and your annoying luck are the biggest challenge I’ve faced. Killing you was something I always wanted to do, not only because you piss me off. But... You’re the toughest wall between me and the agency. You’re their biggest puppet, after all."

"..." Rein frowned as he looked at Virgo. "You’re still trying to achieve that goal, huh? To take down the agency?"

"Oh, and I’m getting so close. Look at the men you killed, look at their outfits. They’re all people who work with you, Rein. People you would assume have endless loyalty toward the agency. Yet, they’re ready to die for me. I have infiltrated the agency a long time ago."

For a second, Rein could see a crazed look appear within Virgo’s eyes as he stared directly at him. Virgo had always been that kind of person... He was one of the Agency’s very first agents, way before Rein had joined them, and he was considered as their most important asset.

Rein had heard countless tales about his success and achievements to the point where people within the agency were comparing them and trying to figure out who was the greatest agent to ever work for that organization. However, for one reason or another, something happened, and Virgo left the agency with a lot of hatred and anger.

Then, he spent the next few years simply plotting to destroy them and take over. Rein was sent on several missions to deal with him. But, while he succeeded in stopping all his plans, he couldn’t kill him simply because the man was extremely hard to locate.

And yet, they both had faced each other a few times, and each time, Rein would emerge victorious while Virgo had to drop everything he planned, whether it was an important deal or an assassination attempt on an important figure in the agency... Rein was always there to stop it.

That made Virgo hate Rein immensely.

"Well, congratulations, I guess. I’m sure you can take over the agency now... Or whatever is left of it." Rein said sarcastically.

"Funny of you. But, everything that happened today is just convenient for me. Now, I can easily get to gather all the people I need, starting with your sweet friend over here."

Violet remained silent and unmoving.

"These new powers we were given, they’re truly magnificent. I have never felt more powerful in my life."

"Good for you, I guess," Rein replied as he looked down. "I’m sure you’re going to enjoy your time."

"Now, enough chatting. Drop your gun, Rein. I know you’re hiding it behind your back. You’re not very slick with it." Virgo said.

"..." Rein pursed his lips as he looked at Violet. Then, he sighed and moved his hand behind his back and pulled the gun out. Then, he dropped it to the ground.

"Kick it away."

Rein obliged and pushed the gun away before lifting his hands up in the air. "Don’t hurt her."

"Awww, see how caring he is, Violet? You really struck gold with this man. Unfortunately, he lets his emotions take over, something people like him and me should never do."

"..." Violet pursed her lips as she frowned. She didn’t like what he said at all. "Why?" She asked.

"Emotions are unimportant. They’re useless and a weakness that could be exploited. Every single person who has something to lose is weak and vulnerable. Rein, the greatest agent of all, is now standing before me, begging me to release you."

"... That... isn’t weakness," Violet said with an angry tone as she looked to the side. "Being a human isn’t a weakness... Rein is way stronger than you will ever be."

Her voice lost all fear as she looked at him coldly. That surprised Virgo as his smile faded and an angry look flashed before his eyes.

"You’re really bold, miss... And I don’t like that. So, remain silent. Understand?" He said as he pushed the gun deeper to her temple, trying to intimidate her. "That guy is never going to be stronger than me. He doesn’t know what I could do! I’m-"

Before he could even finish that sentence, suddenly Rein’s hand moved like a flash as he flicked with his thumb.

*Swish*

A pebble flew from his hand like a bullet, hitting Virgo in the eye. The man lost his balance.

"Violet! Now!" Rein yelled.

Violet was already prepared, so she instantly released herself before she tried to dash toward Rein.

"Get them!!" Virgo yelled.

At the same time, the other man tried to aim at Violet and shoot. However, Rein was already several steps ahead. He quickly threw his sword at him like a dagger. The sword stabbed the man in the face, killing him on the spot.

"You bastard!"

Virgo yelled and shot a bullet with his eye closed.

*BANG*

"Duck!" Rein yelled as he quickly wrapped around Violet and pushed her down. The bullet hit him in the left arm, making him wince from pain.

At the same time, Rein quickly aimed his hand at the pistol. Activating Gravity Manipulation, he pulled the pistol close to him as he grabbed it and aimed his gun.

*BANG* *BANG*

Virgo quickly ran to the side as he hid behind a wall, barely dodging the bullets.

"Move!" Rein said as he pulled Violet up.

"My parents and Alex are still inside!" Violet said.

"Just move! I will take care of this."

On the other side, Virgo signaled for his men standing inside.

"Don’t let her run. Bring the others out."

’This bastard!! I’m going to kill you! I’m going to kill you!’ He felt outraged. Every single time, Rein would come up with a way to slip out of situations like this.

Peeking out, he couldn’t see Rein at all. Then, his senses went off as he felt a cold, deadly sensation from behind him.

Quickly, Virgo summoned both of his weapons... Dual Daggers.

*CLING*

Rein’s sword clashed violently with the man as he made him jump back.

"Don’t you dare do anything. I can order my men to kill her family, you understand?!"

"Oh you can do that, but trust me, you aren’t going to leave this building either. Now, let’s see which is more important... Your life against theirs." Rein said coldly as he approached Virgo, his eyes dead serious.

’Is he serious?! He’s going to sacrifice their lives?! I can kill them with a single order!’ Virgo clenched his teeth as he stood up and took a fighting stance. ’He’s going to really try to kill me!’

Even though he didn’t want to admit it, Virgo knew that he couldn’t defeat Rein in a fight, and if he ordered his men to kill her family, then he would certainly die as a result. Does he really want that to happen?

No. He can’t afford to die now. He can’t afford to lose his life when everything was starting to go his way.
