Chapter 466: Another cold war

When Massimo returned, all the main lights in the Sanders residence had been turned off. There are only a few small lamps that illuminate in the middle of the stairs where the light is not very bright.

"Looks like everyone’s asleep, sir," Martin said quietly to Massimo.

"Yeah, I’ll go upstairs straight away. You also get some rest Martin, today was really tiring."

"Yes sir," replied Martin, lowering his head.

After saying that Massimo rushed up the stairs to enter his room, so many problems that happened today made Massimo forced to go home when the curfew was past. Luckily he knew the password to enter the room, so that when Massimo came home this late, he didn’t have to disturb Gina’s sleep.

When he entered the room the first thing Massimo saw was the bed where Gina was already tightly curled up under the blanket, Gina’s position was staring at the window with her back to the door so Massimo couldn’t see her face. Having had a bath at RedFox before, Massimo decided to take another bath. Silently Massimo took off all his clothes and changed into a night robe before finally joining Gina in bed. Massimo, whose feelings were in turmoil, decided to immediately close his eyes without giving Gina a kiss or hug as usual and Massimo’s decision to go straight to sleep made Gina, who was still awake, burst into tears again.

Gina wept silently, trying not to move her body so that Massimo wouldn’t know he was crying. Gina doesn’t want to show her weak side to Massimo, Massimo must know that she is strong even though her heart is broken right now. Seeing with her own eyes Massimo hugging another woman made Gina decide not to cry in front of that man anymore.

Two days later.

"Good, you’re really great Gina. In just a short time you managed to make a report this detailed, I didn’t expect it at all," Diego said for the second time giving praise to Gina who had given him a report on the results of a meeting with Mrs. Isabel took care of the display throughout the new Sanders family hotel in Paris one day ago.

Gina smiled. "Don’t keep praising me. This is just an ordinary report, everyone can do it too."

"No Gina, your report is really detailed. You even wrote down the name of the material Mrs Isabel would use on every floor in our hotel," Diego said again, praising Gina sincerely. Having studied economics for a semester made Gina good at making reports related to money, especially with all the knowledge she got from her campus in New York, Diego was really lucky to get an assistant as smart as Gina.

"Never mind, don’t keep saying sweet things in front of me, I can fly to the moon right now. Besides, it’s still office hours, you better hurry back to your room. I still have other work to do."

Diego smiled. "Ok..ok...Miss Georgina, I will return to my office and leave you alone. Then have a good day and good luck." After saying that Diego then returned to his own office which was right next to Gina’s office.

When Diego left Gina’s room, Mariam and her friends were gossiping about Gina again. They began to vilify Gina, who was judged to be very impudent for daring to ask Diego to enter her room to take a report, a false slander whose truth cannot be ascertained. The reason is that Diego who wants to come to Gina’s room is himself, Diego is the one who always wants to be close to Gina. As he had just done, he deliberately lingered in Gina’s office.

After Diego left, Gina then massaged her head which suddenly felt dizzy. Not being able to sleep well for two days and aggravated by her old habit of often eating late managed to make Gina not as fit as usual. Gina didn’t bring up the events she saw in the restaurant to Massimo, Gina waited for Massimo to explain all of that to her bravely. But until two days had passed Massimo still locked his lips, Massimo didn’t even answer Gina’s greeting when he was in his room.

"It’s ok Gina, everything will be fine. Give your husband time, after everything calms down he will definitely come back to talk to you," Gina said in her heart trying to brace herself, remembering that her cold war with Massimo that had happened again made Gina’s chest hurt.

When she was about to continue her work, her cell phone suddenly rang, without looking at the screen, Gina immediately received an incoming call from an unknown number.

"Gina..."

The hoarse voice that had just called her name managed to make Gina drop the pencil she was holding.

"Gina, it’s me," repeated the caller in a very sad voice.

"L-Luke..."

On the other end of the phone Lucas smiled. "Yeah, it’s me. Sorry if I called you again."

"It’s ok Luke, but wait for me to close my door first. I’m at the office."

"In the office?"

Gina smiled, she slowly closed the door to her room so that no one would know about her conversation with Lucas, including Diego who was now in his own room. Gina doesn’t want to take the risk of letting someone overhear her talk to someone who has nothing to do with her work at the office.

"At the office? You work, Gina?"

Gina smiled. "Yeah, I helped Diego at my family office, Luke."

"Massimo allow?"

"Yes, he allows it. Otherwise there’s no way I can work."

"Wait." Lucas immediately interrupted Gina’s words. "Since when did you work, when we met at the golf did you..."

"Yes, I was working at that time," Gina answered quietly.

"Oh, I see," Lucas said quietly, his voice clear of great disappointment.

"What’s wrong, Luke? Do you need my help?"

Lucas was silent, he didn’t answer Gina’s question right away. Lucas is contemplating whether his decision to contact Gina is right or wrong, especially now that Gina is also busy. Managing dozens of the best hotels spread across several major cities in Spain is no easy task and Lucas knows that well.

"Meeting you who doesn’t work is difficult, especially now that you’re busy. Looks like we won’t be able to see each other again, Gina," Lucas said quietly.

"Ishh what are you talking about? Don’t talk carelessly, I’m not as busy as you think. So don’t talk like that, what’s wrong Luke? Do you need my help?" Having experienced the loss of someone she loved the most, Gina knew that Lucas was currently very down, because of that Gina spoke in a soft tone to Lucas.

"I-I’m just feeling weird. After getting used to hearing all of Giovana’s chatter over the past four years, I feel like something’s missing when I don’t hear her voice anymore. I feel so lonely, Gina. That’s why I called you and asked you to... "

"To?"

"To accompany me to Giovana’s grave, I miss her. Even though she was born the way I didn’t want her to be, she is my daughter Gina, my flesh and blood. I really still can’t accept her very sad death," Lucas said, his voice stuttering. shaking with tears.

Hearing Lucas’ tone of voice made Gina pause for a moment, she couldn’t believe she could hear Lucas cry. The reason is that during Giovana’s funeral yesterday Lucas did not shed any tears even though sadness was clearly visible in his eyes.

"But...if you can’t I won’t..."

"When?"

"What?"

"When do you want to see Giovana?" Without hesitation, Gina immediately asked how much time Lucas wanted to take to visit Giovana.

"But Massimo..what’s your husband?"

"I’ll ask permission first and I’m sure he will allow me, you don’t have to worry."

"Okay then, we’ll meet in two days at the entrance of the Giovana cemetery. You don’t mind us meeting there in person, do you?"

Gina pursed her lips. "Of course not, I’m just glad you asked to meet in person at the tomb area."

"Okay, then I hang up. Thank you, Gina. You always help me, sorry if I always bother you," Lucas said sincerely.

Gina didn’t respond to Lucas’ words, she had to hold her limits to Lucas so Lucas wouldn’t have too much hope for her anymore. However, Lucas had had feelings for Gina in the past, because of that Gina tried to keep her distance from Lucas. Gina didn’t want to make Massimo angry, he was too jealous of Lucas and Gina knew that well.

After Lucas turned off her phone, Gina circled the calendar on her desk, Gina circled the date she had made with Lucas to visit Giovana. Even though Gina wouldn’t forget it, she chose to keep it marked on the calendar just in case.

When going back to work, Gina was surprised by the appearance of Massimo’s name on the screen of her cellphone. After two days of cold war, Massimo finally contacted her again. Gina excitedly grabbed her phone.

"Massimo..."

"It’s me, madam."

The smile on Gina’s face immediately disappeared when she heard Martin’s voice. "What’s the matter Martin?" Gina tried to hide her disappointment.

"I will send you the address, please come to that address immediately, madam. The master is waiting for you," Martin answered slowly, explaining his intention to contact Gina.

"Fine, I’ll be right over. Just send me the address."
