"My father was imprisoned, he was cheated by his business friend Diego. Right now my only hope is you, Diego. Please save my family, get my father out of prison. I beg you, Diego," added Jesslyn quietly, saying her purpose in coming to see Diego.

"Your father is in prison?" Diego repeated slowly confirming Jesslyn’s words.

Jesslyn nodded her head quickly. "Yes, my father has been in prison for a week."

Diego smiled sarcastically. "How much money do you need?"

Jesslyn quickly approached Diego and handed a piece of paper on Diego’s desk, seeing the amount of money Jesslyn needed to free his father from prison Diego smiled a little. Ten million dollars Jesslyn needed right now was a small amount for Diego.

Diego slowly reached for a check from the drawer on his right, without thinking Diego wrote down the amount of money Jesslyn needed.

"Take this," Diego said expressionlessly to Jesslyn.

Jesslyn stared at the check in Diego’s hand without blinking, she looked doubtful. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

"Take it, I don’t have much time Jesslyn. Don’t let me change my mind," Diego said again.

"I promise I’ll get you back as soon as possible, Diego. I promise."

Diego chuckled. "No need, just think of this money as payment for all your kindness so far to me."

"Diego!!"

"I am a person who acts like a mirror, Jesslyn. I will return anything anyone did to me, so quickly take this money and go to jail to free your father. I added a little money to this check, you can use the rest to continue living with your family. But remember, after you leave my office don’t ever show your face in front of me again or you’ll regret it. Remember Jesslyn, I’m not a nice person."

Diego’s words really hurt Jesslyn, she wanted to leave Diego right now. But remembering her father’s condition that he had to be released from custody immediately, Jesslyn suppressed her embarrassment and grabbed the check Diego gave her. Five minutes after Jesslyn left Diego then contacted one of his subordinates who was currently near the Jesslyn family’s house, the only person responsible for what happened to Jesslyn’s family was Diego. He was the mastermind behind the destruction of the family, including the detention of Jesslyn’s father, Robert, in prison for fraud charges. Diego started taking Jesslyn’s family assets one year ago, therefore when Jesslyn came to ask for help Diego did not seem hesitant at all to give money to Jesslyn because the money that Diego gave was Jesslyn’s own family’s money.

The main reason Diego destroyed Jesslyn’s family was to want to repay Jesslyn for daring to betray him, Diego did the same thing to the Ramos family last year. Diego destroyed the families of the women who had hurt him and took their family’s valuable assets, therefore Diego has quite a lot of money at this time. Diego has even transferred the booty money from Kiara and Jesslyn’s family to some of his new properties such as a luxury house managed by his mother and a four-star hotel that he managed to buy from his former owner.

"What happened to my daughter, doc?" Lucas asked quietly to a doctor who had been called to his hotel to check on Giovana, who suddenly felt hot after crying for almost an hour.

"Your daughter is all right, sir. She’s just a little tired, that’s why her body feels hot," replied the pediatrician gently.

"Are you sure, doc?"

The doctor who was no longer young smiled. "Absolutely, sir."

"So Ana doesn’t need an IV or anything?" Lucas asked again to make sure.

"No need, sir."

Lucas took a deep breath, looking relieved and calm. Just moments ago when he noticed Giovana’s body suddenly heats up, Lucas almost had a heart attack. Lucas even vowed to be ready to trade his life for Giovana’s recovery. Having never been sick since childhood, Lucas panicked when he found out that his only daughter was helpless in the nanny’s arms.

"It seems that your daughter misses her mother, sir. Usually a child will be like this when they miss their closest person," said the doctor again, interrupting Lucas’s daydream.

"Missing those closest to her?"

"Yes, the little child has a strong bond with her mother. That’s why you better contact your wife and..."

"Her mother died a few minutes after giving birth to Giovana, doc," Lucas said quietly, cutting the doctor’s words.

"Jesus..."

Lucas smiled. "Yes, since she was a baby Giovana never met her mother. That’s why I was confused by what you said."

Surprisingly, the middle-aged doctor suddenly hugged Lucas and patted him on the back, giving him moral support. "I’m sorry about what happened to your wife, sir."

"She is not my wife, we are not married and not in any relationship doc. So you don’t have to tell me that."

As soon as the doctor released his arms from Lucas, he looked surprised by the words Lucas had just said.

"The woman who gave birth to my child is a girl that her own biological mother sold to me, doc. That’s why I didn’t have any feelings for her even when she died. There wasn’t the slightest bit of sadness in me, but right now when I see my daughter suddenly my world has a fever. collapsed.
