His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 73: Whoever Chickens Out Is the Loser
The man who walked in was wearing a floral shirt, black shorts, and a huge pair of sunglasses perched on his nose.
He strolled in nonchalantly, followed by a few other young men cut from the same cloth.
As soon as Kiana Sutton saw him, she instantly remembered the guy who’d hit her by the bridge.
Although he’d been wearing a helmet then, Kiana had seen the scar running from his outer eye to his cheekbone, clear as day.
When Kiana noticed Quinn Sinclair’s eyes full of disdain and disgust at the new arrival, she gave Quinn a slight nudge.
Quinn Sinclair turned to look at Kiana. "What’s up, sis-in-law?"
"Who’s that guy...?"
"Him? Hmph... He’s my second uncle’s illegitimate son, and a senior simp for Kate Lynch. His name’s Quentin Sinclair."
Seeing Kiana’s slight surprise, the Sinclair Matriarch had three sons.
The eldest, Stephen Sinclair—Quinn’s father—is a lawyer by profession.
The second, Marcus Sinclair, is a shareholder in Evercrest Group.
The third is Ethan Sinclair’s father, Howard Sinclair, who’s left the Sinclair Family and no one knows his whereabouts.
Stephen Sinclair has a son and a daughter; his son Liam works at the Metallurgical Research Institute as an engineer, and his daughter Quinn is still in college.
Marcus Sinclair has three daughters and a son; the three daughters are from his first wife.
The son, Quentin Sinclair, was the illegitimate child Marcus suddenly brought home twelve years ago.
The Sinclair family is strict, and Quentin’s existence was a stain on their otherwise spotless family reputation. The Sinclair Matriarch was so furious she fell gravely ill.
But what was done was done. The matriarch didn’t outright disown Quentin, but she never treated him like a real grandson either.
The Sinclairs didn’t bring up Quentin much, so Kiana had no idea that such a person even existed in the family.
Three years ago, after Kate Lynch’s incident, Quentin went abroad. Now that Kate’s awake again, he’s back too.
Quentin Sinclair, a simp for Kate Lynch?
So, when he bumped into her on the bridge that day, it hadn’t been accidental—it was on purpose!
"Sis-in-law, why are you asking about him? Did he bully you?"
No wonder Quinn would ask. Kiana only ever cared about her family and Ethan Sinclair—she showed zero interest in anyone else.
Suddenly asking about Quentin, with his notorious personality—and considering he’s Kate’s simp—Quinn couldn’t help but wonder if Quentin had messed with Kiana.
Kiana knew if she told Quinn that Quentin had deliberately bumped into her, Quinn definitely wouldn’t let it slide.
What if things got out of hand and Quentin hurt Quinn?
And if Ethan found out, he’d probably say she was just stirring up trouble again.
So Kiana shook her head. "I don’t know him."
"Good. Better you don’t. He’s no good."
No sooner had Quinn finished speaking than Quentin sauntered over, throwing an arm around Quinn’s shoulders. "Quinn, little sis—it’s been a while! Miss me?"
Quinn pushed him off with disgust. "Don’t touch me! Who’s your little sister?"
Quentin clutched his chest, pretending to be heartbroken. "Quinn, it’s been so long, I even brought you gifts from overseas, and you treat your big bro like this?"
"Ha... You think I want your gifts?"
"Ugh... The Cyrulian Ocean isn’t as deep as my heartbreak."
As he spoke, Quentin’s sharp, cunning eyes landed on Kiana, and he suddenly walked over to her with a grin.
Both Quinn and Miles Goodman immediately stepped in front of Kiana, blocking his path.
Quentin paused, then slapped his thigh and burst into laughter. "Haha—Quinn, Young Master Goodman, what’s this about? I just noticed a new face and wanted to say hi to the pretty girl, that’s all."
Quinn scowled at Quentin’s obvious ulterior motives and hissed, "She’s my brother Ethan Sinclair’s wife! Don’t even think about it!"
Quentin raised his brows and shrugged. "Oh, so you’re the fifth sister-in-law. So lovely—fifth brother is one lucky guy."
Miles Goodman’s fists clenched hearing Quentin call Kiana "fifth sister-in-law."
"Relax, I don’t mean any harm. Fifth sister-in-law, it’s not every day we run into each other at the pool hall—how about a few games?"
Miles stepped forward. "You want to play? Play with me!"
Quentin scoffed and gave Miles a shove. "Who wants to play with a brute like you?"
Then his gaze slid over to Kiana, his face all enthusiasm. "I want to play with my sister-in-law!"
Kiana met Quentin’s provocative stare but hadn’t said a word before Quinn snorted, "Play then! Sis-in-law, you got this!"
Kiana: "..."
"If we’re going to play, there should be stakes. Let’s make a bet!"
Quinn: "What do you have in mind?"
"Best two out of three. If sis-in-law wins, I’ll do whatever she wants. But if I win..."
Quentin smirked, eyes running over Kiana with ill-concealed malice. He had to admit, Kiana was good-looking, but nowhere near as beautiful as Autumn.
"Grandma’s eighty-eighth birthday’s on the fifth of next month. I want fifth sister-in-law to be my date."
As soon as he said this, both Quinn and Miles Goodman exploded.
Miles almost slapped him then and there. "Who the hell do you think you are, even thinking about taking Kiana as your date!"
Quinn took the same side as Miles. "Dream on! You’re just looking to humiliate Grandma and my brother!"
Quentin snorted. "Hey, it’s just the terms—if I win. What, scared you’ll lose?"
If there was one thing Quinn couldn’t stand, it was being provoked—especially by people she hated. She let out a laugh, "Lose? Ha... I’m just worried my sister-in-law’s going to make you cry!"
"So? Are we playing?"
Kiana was about to reach out and stop Quinn from being so impulsive.
But she was a step too late—Quinn had already rolled up her sleeves with gusto. "Play! Chicken’s the loser! Sis-in-law, you’re up!"
Kiana’s mind went blank.
She really wanted to shout, "Quinn, honey, next time you make a decision, could you ask me first?"
Before Kiana could say anything, someone shoved a cue stick into her hand.
Quinn squeezed Kiana’s arm encouragingly while grinning. "Sis-in-law, pool’s super easy. There’s no way you can lose, right?"
Kiana: "..."
Kiana let out a heavy sigh. She raised her cue and was just about to try when, from across the table, Quentin flashed a wicked grin. "Fifth sister-in-law, ladies first."
Seeing Quentin’s cocky look, Kiana gripped her cue a little tighter.
She glanced at where Quentin stood and quickly calculated the distance in her head.
"Okay, everyone make room. I’m going to film my sister-in-law’s very first pool match! Sis-in-law, crush it!"
Quinn whipped out her phone to record, while Miles was busy snapping Kiana’s photos from every angle.
Kiana had never played pool, but she’d at least watched before. She leaned down, took aim, and hit the white ball hard.
Her eyes were sharp, her move quick. Just when everyone thought she was about to play like a champ, the ball shot off—and then came a scream...
