Chapter 72: Chapter 72: He Thought She Was Imitating Kate Lynch?

After her electric scooter was smashed, Kiana Sutton had to leave an hour early every morning to take the subway, and after work, she’d take the subway back home.

But riding the subway had its perks. Every time she got off and walked home, the scenery along the way was lovely, so she treated it like a stroll.

That day, as Kiana passed by a flower shop, she bought a bouquet of pink and white Starlight, and then stopped at a dessert shop to buy two small cakes.

One was Chelsea Chapman’s favorite: strawberry flavor.

The other was matcha flavor, which she herself liked best.

When she got home, Chelsea quietly told Kiana, "Ethan Sinclair is home."

Seeing Chelsea looking like she was facing some great enemy, Kiana chuckled and reassured her, "Don’t be scared, he won’t do anything to you."

"I’m not scared of what he’ll do to me... I’m scared of what he’ll do to you..."

Seeing Kiana’s eyes dim a little at those words, Chelsea didn’t dare to continue.

But she knew very well that every time Young Master Goodman came home, the Young Madam would always end up hurt.

"Don’t worry, he didn’t do anything to me either. Eat your cake first—I’ll go change and put the flowers away."

"Mm, okay..."

Chelsea took the cakes to the dining room, and as Kiana was heading upstairs, she ran into Ethan Sinclair coming down.

He was dressed in a dark gray custom suit, with a crisp white shirt and a black tie underneath.

Seeing the color of his tie, Kiana paused for a moment—was he in a bad mood?

Hadn’t Kate Lynch already woken up? Why would he still be in a bad mood?

And when Ethan saw the Starlight bouquet in Kiana’s hand, his already gloomy expression grew even darker. He snatched the flowers away from her, his cool gaze flicking over her. "Starlight, pink and white again..."

Kiana had no clue what had gotten into Ethan all of a sudden, and then she heard him say coldly, "Why did you buy this?"

Obviously to enjoy them—what else would she buy flowers for?

But it was rare for Ethan to actually start a conversation with her. She gestured, "To put in the bedroom."

"You like pink and white Starlight?"

Kiana nodded.

"Why?"

Without thinking, Kiana signed, "Because they’re pretty."

Anger brewed in Ethan’s dark eyes. "Just because of that?"

Realizing Ethan was angry, Kiana was confused. Had she said something wrong?

The reason she liked Starlight was simply because they looked nice.

Just like Ethan—she’d fallen for him at first sight, not because of anything special about him, but just because he looked good.

"Answer me!"

His voice was loud; Kiana jumped, then quickly nodded again.

The next second, Ethan tossed the Starlight bouquet in his hand; it landed right on the floor of the first floor.

Kiana stared at the abandoned bouquet, stunned for a few seconds.

Then Ethan’s cruel, icy voice sounded: "Next time, before you copy others, do some real research. And don’t think just because you mimic Kate, I’ll like you. It’s nothing but cheap imitation."

It wasn’t until Ethan had left that Kiana finally realized what he meant.

He thought she was trying to be like Kate Lynch?

Did Kate also like Starlight?

She’d even been fantasizing about Ethan treating her differently lately—but clearly, that was just wishful thinking.

Kate liked Starlight. If she liked them too, that meant she was copying her!

What kind of twisted, robber’s logic was that!

Kiana picked up the Starlight bouquet Ethan had thrown away, and arranged them in her room.

Friday night, Kiana got a WeChat message from Quinn Sinclair.

"Sister-in-law! Are you free tomorrow? I know a great place—let’s go have fun, okay?"

Kiana wasn’t really in the mood to go out—she preferred staying home and painting.

Before she could reply, Quinn sent another voice message: "Oh, I’m so miserable—no one wants to hang out with me. Sister-in-law, come with me, please... pretty please..."

With Quinn whining and acting cute—and since she’d helped her before—Kiana didn’t feel right refusing, so she agreed.

Saturday morning, Quinn came to pick up Kiana, and together they drove to the place Quinn had mentioned.

Mount Greylag Resort really was a great spot. In May and June, Varden was already sweltering, but Mount Greylag was the perfect temperature.

The resort had swimming, horseback riding, golf, and all kinds of entertainment options.

Kate Lynch had already woken up, and Quinn was worried Kiana would feel upset, so she wanted to take her out to relax and have fun.

"Sister-in-law, let’s just go wild and enjoy ourselves for two days—don’t worry about the cost, someone else is paying!"

"Even if someone else is footing the bill, we can’t waste their money!"

Seeing Kiana gesture, Quinn glanced at Mason Kane, "What’s my sister-in-law signing?"

Mason translated it for Quinn.

Quinn was incredibly lazy—the Sinclair Family kids were all academic stars, except for her. In school, her grades were always at the very bottom.

During college entrance exams, the whole family worried sick about her, even Ethan personally supervised her studies for two weeks.

Lady Luck must have favored her, because she barely scraped into Varden University.

She didn’t want to learn sign language herself, but worried that every time Kiana had to type or write, it would be tiring, so she made Mason learn all of sign language in a week and act as their interpreter.

"Relax, it’s not someone else’s money I’m spending."

Seeing Kiana’s confusion, Quinn leaned in and whispered, "I called my brother this morning and asked him to transfer me two million, since I’m taking you out for fun."

Kiana was a little shocked. "He gave it to you?"

"Of course! I told him if he didn’t, I’d ask Grandma instead. Hmph—you’re his wife, and he’s off with another woman, spending money on her? We can’t just let him get away with that!"

Kiana: "..."

Why did she feel like she was just tricked by Quinn again?

Well, at this point—even if she didn’t do anything, Ethan might still think she’d egged Quinn on to ask him for money. Might as well just relax and have fun.

After playing several big attractions, Quinn said one of her friends was waiting at the billiards hall, so the three of them headed that way.

"Kiana..."

As soon as they walked in, Miles Goodman, dressed in a casual leather shirt, greeted them.

Quinn’s face immediately fell. "What are you doing here?"

"Kiana’s here, so of course I’m here! Kiana, how have you been lately?"

His attitude toward Quinn and Kiana couldn’t have been more different. Quinn glared at Gary Sharp, annoyed by how much of a suck-up Miles was in front of Kiana.

Gary shrugged. "He insisted on coming—I couldn’t stop him even if I tried!"

"Did you tell him my sister-in-law was coming?"

"I swear I didn’t!"

"Then how...?"

Gary massaged his forehead. "Young Master Goodman called me first thing this morning, said he dreamt of Cupid shooting arrows at him all night, and Cupid told him his true love would come to Mount Greylag today." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

Quinn: "..."

Gary looked at Young Master Goodman, who was usually the coolest guy around, now circling Kiana like a devoted husky. "Man, this mystical stuff—I’m just a regular guy, I can’t figure it out."

"Yo, everyone’s here today, huh?"

A laid-back voice interrupted, and everyone turned to look at him...
