His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 51: Did His Hand Hold Your Waist?
Amy Manning couldn’t keep anything to herself, so she stormed over to Kiana Sutton, "Kiana, they’re saying you like Judith, that you’re chasing after her—is that true?"
Kiana hadn’t expected people to start gossiping about her and Evan Shepherd. She shook her head seriously and said, "Amy, let me say it again, Judith and I are just friends."
"But they talk about it so convincingly."
Afraid Kiana would misunderstand, Amy hurried to explain, "Kiana, I do kinda like Judith, but that’s just like how I like other handsome guys. I’m mainly just worried about you; I don’t want them to misunderstand you and spout nonsense."
"Those who are innocent need not explain; don’t bother with what others are saying."
Amy pondered for a moment, then nodded hard, "You’re right! Those people have nothing better to do than gossip. But... Judith is really good to you, you know. If you two actually liked each other, I’d totally ship you guys."
Hey, you can’t say stuff like that!
Kiana quickly covered Amy’s mouth, glancing nervously around. Luckily, Ethan Sinclair hadn’t been dropping by the planning department like he used to these past few days.
Otherwise, if he’d heard those words, God knows what he’d do to her?
"Me... having someone I like?"
Amy’s eyes lit up, "Really? Is it that Miles Goodman who’s been sending you flowers lately? Hm... speaking of Miles Goodman, he drops off a bouquet of roses for you every day, never misses a beat, but he never shows his face. What’s up with that?"
Kiana couldn’t tell Amy that Miles Goodman didn’t actually exist. But trying to explain was too complicated, so she just skipped over it.
"Not him."
"Then who is it?"
Kiana shook her head, clearly not willing to say more.
"Is it a secret love?"
Pretty much, yeah!
A secret love she couldn’t confess out loud.
Seeing Kiana silent and unwilling to do any more hand gestures, Amy knew not to push.
Although Kiana was never insecure at work, she was, after all, mute.
The person she secretly liked must be really outstanding, which is probably why she didn’t dare confess.
Amy let out a deep sigh. Such a good girl, why’d she have to be mute?
Kiana had thought the gossip about her and Evan Shepherd would just die down, but she hadn’t expected it to be only the beginning.
Later, someone posted a photo of her giving Evan Shepherd a lift on the company’s website, and the whole office exploded instantly.
"No wonder they’re always together. Smart guy, pretty girl, perfect couple, right?"
"This picture is so sweet and beautiful, makes you just wanna fall in love yourself."
"Hurry up and get married—you guys not getting married would just be weird now."
Kiana found out about the photo from Amy. Her first thought was, who the hell was so bored that they’d secretly snap pics of her and Evan Shepherd and post them online?
Then, she started worrying about what Ethan Sinclair would do if he saw that photo.
That night, when Kiana got home, Ethan Sinclair wasn’t there.
It wasn’t until eleven, when she was about to go to bed, that she suddenly got a WeChat message from "qq."
"Get down to the garage!"
Kiana remembered "qq" was someone who’d added her before. Their chat history was just her asking if the person needed anything.
Why was this person suddenly messaging her out of the blue?
"You’ve got thirty seconds. If you’re not there, your electric scooter will be nothing but scrap!"
A flash of realization hit Kiana’s mind.
This "qq" was Kate?
This person... was Ethan Sinclair?
He was going to smash her scooter?
Kiana didn’t have time to think. She threw on her slippers and ran to the garage.
If Ethan wanted to pick on her, fine, but she definitely couldn’t let him smash her scooter. Otherwise, how’s she going to get to work tomorrow?
The garage lights were on, but Kiana didn’t see Ethan. She hurried over to check her scooter.
Thank goodness, her little electric scooter was totally intact.
But the next second, a strong force pressed her down onto the scooter, which tipped and was only stopped by the wall beside it.
Kiana was sitting on the scooter, feeling super unsafe. Instinctively, she clung to Ethan’s arm and met his dark, terrifying eyes—eyes that looked like they could destroy everything.
"You bring Evan Shepherd breakfast from home, make him keychains yourself, even give him a ride on this crappy scooter. Kiana Sutton, you’ve got some nerve—daring to cheat on me!"
Kiana’s heart jumped in fear. Ethan must’ve seen that post and was here to settle the score.
She couldn’t let him misunderstand!
Kiana raised her hand, wanting to explain that she and Evan were just friends. But Ethan wouldn’t even let her gesture—he pinned one of her hands to the wall behind the scooter.
Then his other hand gripped her delicate little chin hard.
"I had no idea you were so romantic—when you were giving Evan Shepherd a ride, did he put his hand around your waist?"
Even though Ethan sounded like he was praising her and his lips curled with a half-smile, the violent aura coming off him made Kiana’s heart pound in terror.
She shook her head rapidly, afraid that even a second’s hesitation would have Ethan chopping off her waist or Evan’s hand without blinking.
Evan Shepherd was a total gentleman—whenever he rode with her, his hands stayed put. Nothing had ever happened between them that went beyond what friends do.
Ethan stared into Kiana’s eyes, clear and lovely like glass beads, and when he saw her face full of anxious panic, his lips curled faintly, "I knew you wouldn’t dare to lie to me."
Kiana could finally breathe a tiny sigh of relief—but just as she did, Ethan’s hand suddenly slid inside her pajamas.
Kiana’s breath caught and her eyes flew wide open.
This guy... no way he’s actually...
"Since you love this little crappy scooter so much, tonight I’ll let you ride it all night."
When Kiana realized exactly what Ethan meant, her face flushed red, then pale, then red again.
This is a garage—has he gone completely insane?
No way...
Not here, and definitely not on her scooter!
Plus, this wasn’t even a car—it was just an electric scooter!
But all Kiana’s struggling and internal protests were completely ignored by Ethan, and naturally, she didn’t escape what was coming either.
Fortunately—maybe Ethan’s conscience kicked in, or maybe it was his germophobia—after one round, he finally carried Kiana, all weak in the legs, back to the bedroom.
Of course, that was nowhere near the end—just the start of a very, very long night.
That night, all Kiana felt was like a lone little boat tossing on the ocean, drifting and sinking with every one of Ethan’s movements, until, in the end, she was completely pulled under by the whirlpool.
They went at it all night. When Kiana woke up the next morning, her back and waist were aching—she felt horrible.
When she went to work and saw her scooter in the garage, she could only remember Ethan pinning her up against it the night before.
It was just... too wild!
