Chapter 200: Chapter 200: Make Your Daughter Stay Away from Mr. Sinclair

Wendy Fletcher never imagined that Kate Lynch would let Hannah Lowell go just like that. After all the effort they had put in to get Hannah Lowell into the police station, how could they possibly let her off so easily?

"Miss Lynch, with theft, if there’s a first time, there will be a second. You cannot be lenient about this!"

Kate Lynch frowned and shot a glance at Wendy Fletcher. This Wendy usually listened to her, yet today she dared to go against her.

"Ms. Fletcher, you were the one who recommended Ms. Lewis to my studio. If her hands aren’t clean, that’s your responsibility too."

Wendy Fletcher’s expression immediately turned ugly.

The police, seeing that Kate Lynch wasn’t pursuing the matter, figured a peaceful resolution would be best and released Hannah Lowell.

The moment they stepped out of the station, Kiana Sutton spotted Ethan Sinclair’s car. The back window was open, revealing Ethan’s handsome face.

Why was Ethan Sinclair here?

Was he here with Kate Lynch?

His expression was dark and cold. His deep eyes swept past Kiana Sutton, then landed on Hannah Lowell.

Meeting Ethan Sinclair’s icy, piercing gaze, Hannah Lowell shuddered and hid behind Kiana, whispering, "Kiana, what is Ethan Sinclair doing with Kate Lynch?"

Kiana’s fist tightened.

In the next moment, she saw Kate Lynch running up to Ethan with a smile. "Ian, don’t worry. Kiana’s mom is fine now."

Ethan gave a slight nod. "Get in the car."

Kate Lynch’s eyes flickered, then she glanced uneasily at Kiana. "But what about Kiana..."

"Forget her."

Kate Lynch raised her brows. She knew that as soon as Ethan saw Hannah Lowell causing trouble, he’d think of what happened three years ago—the time Hannah spiked his drink.

Her face appeared apologetic, but she was secretly pleased as she waved at Kiana. "Kiana, Ian and I have a banquet to attend. Your aunt’s probably been scared enough today. You’d better take her home."

It sounded as if Kate Lynch was explaining why she was with Ethan Sinclair, and where they were headed, but in reality, she was stabbing Kiana Sutton right in the heart.

What kind of banquet could require only the two of them, and not her—the wife—to even know about it?

The car slowly drove off. Kiana watched the car disappear, her chest aching.

Wendy Fletcher snorted coldly at her. "What’s not yours will never be yours. No matter how dirty your tricks, you’ll never truly have it."

Then she looked at Hannah Lowell, her tone frosty: "Miss Lynch is being generous by not holding this against you. If you really want to repay her, have your daughter leave Mr. Sinclair as soon as possible."

Wendy Fletcher’s eyes were full of disgust toward Kiana Sutton and Hannah Lowell, as if she held a deep vendetta against them.

Hannah Lowell was both angry about Kate Lynch and Ethan Sinclair leaving together, and at the same time couldn’t help but feel lingering fear.

"Maybe Kate Lynch isn’t so bad after all. If she hadn’t believed me today, wouldn’t I have ended up wronged and in prison like your father?"

Kiana Sutton shot Hannah Lowell a cold look. She signed angrily, "What happened? You work at Kate Lynch’s studio? Why didn’t you tell me?"

Hannah Lowell knew she was in the wrong, but stubbornly stuck out her chin. "What’s there to say? They pay well and the job’s easy. Besides, I figured you wouldn’t approve, right? I wanted to land the job and make you happy, how could I know this crap was going to happen?"

Kiana grew angrier the more she thought about it. "Did you steal it?"

"Kiana Sutton! You don’t even trust your own mother! You really let me down! Yes, I’m greedy. Yes, I love to gamble. But I’ve already decided to change and work hard. How could I steal anything?"

Kiana let out a heavy sigh. She felt utterly exhausted, but she had to know the truth. Slowly, she signed, "Tell me everything that happened today, every detail, don’t leave anything out."

It all started when Hannah Lowell made up her mind to turn over a new leaf and began searching everywhere for a job.

She accidentally met Wendy Fletcher. They got along well, and Wendy mentioned she worked at Kate Lynch’s studio, which paid well, and they needed an extra hand—would Hannah be interested?

Hannah was hesitant at first; after all, considering the history between Kate Lynch and their family, she worried Kate would make things difficult for her.

But after two months of searching and not finding a decent job—mostly because the pay was low or the work was lousy—she called Wendy Fletcher back.

Wendy was very enthusiastic, calling her "sister" left and right. Hannah was flattered and felt a spark of deep connection.

At first, Hannah worried Kate Lynch’s studio wouldn’t want her, but things went much smoother than she expected.

Once they heard she was Ethan Sinclair’s mother-in-law, they immediately offered her a ten-thousand-a-month job to just tidy up the office.

Today, while cleaning, Hannah Lowell saw a delicate box on a desk. Curiosity got the best of her; she opened it and saw a diamond necklace inside.

No woman can resist diamonds. She admitted she was tempted for a moment.

But since she’d resolved to be a good mom, after looking at it, she put the necklace back. Not long after she finished cleaning and left, she heard the necklace was missing.

The necklace was worth over a million. Kate Lynch needed it for a banquet that night—if they couldn’t find it, it would be a disaster.

Hannah pitched in to help look, but soon someone said they saw her with the necklace.

Everyone stared at her. She insisted she didn’t steal it, but when they checked her bag, the necklace fell right out.

Hannah was completely dumbfounded and panicked. She truly didn’t know how it happened—she had clearly put the necklace back in the box, so how did it end up in her bag?

The evidence was ironclad. Wendy Fletcher called the police right away.

"Kiana, I swear I didn’t steal the necklace. After that bastard Desmond Grant crippled your hands last time, I really understood. I admit I did a lot of selfish, hurtful things to you in the past, but I really want to make it up to you now."

Hannah seemed genuinely wronged. Her words felt sincere, not like a lie at all.

Kiana thought carefully. Wendy Fletcher’s animosity toward her was so intense—why, knowing Hannah was her mother, would she instantly befriend her and recommend her for Kate’s studio?

And someone like Kate Lynch, who hated their family, why tolerate Hannah working right under her nose?

If this really was a set-up against Hannah, Kate Lynch and Wendy Fletcher were probably behind it.

Pulling a stunt like this, the necklace was never lost, but Hannah was saddled with the crime of theft.

Then Kate stepped in to "save" her just in time—in Ethan Sinclair’s eyes, she became the generous, magnanimous woman, while Kiana’s entire family looked like a bunch of greedy, scheming, despicable people.

Thinking this, Kiana felt chilled to the bone. Ever since three years ago, Kate had started coming after her family—and now she was only getting worse.

Seeing that Kiana was pale and unresponsive, Hannah Lowell worriedly asked, "Kiana, what’s wrong?"

"Quit your job at Kate Lynch’s studio. If you really want to make it up to me, just stay at home, take care of yourself, then wait for Dad to come home and we can be together again!"
