Chapter 192: Chapter 192: Caught You Being Two-Faced

Everyone was having a great time—some were singing with the mic, some were dancing hand in hand, and there was even a cake fight.

Only Ethan Sinclair’s spot was cold, lonely, and downright pitiful.

It wasn’t that no one wanted to play with Ethan—they just didn’t dare.

Ethan was famously aloof, always carrying a frosty expression and never smiling. Add to that his untouchable status and obsessive cleanliness, and even if they wanted to make a move, no one had the guts to mess with him.

Kate Lynch, though, was smitten. She didn’t join the others but quietly stayed by Ethan’s side.

But Ethan’s mind was clearly not on her at all.

Standing nearby, Julian Garrison noticed Ethan looking eager but clearly too embarrassed to join in, so he sidled over, grinning, "It’s your birthday after all. Why not get up and dance a little—liven things up?"

Ethan’s face turned even gloomier. "No."

After all these years as brothers, Julian knew Ethan’s words were always at odds with his real feelings. Ignoring Ethan’s murderous glare, Julian yanked him up and dragged him toward the bonfire. "You always act like you’re a thousand miles away from everyone. How’s anyone supposed to get close to you?"

Julian wasn’t stupid—he could totally see the weird tension between Ethan and Kiana Sutton. So he just shoved Ethan right toward her.

Kiana had cake smeared on her fingertips and was chasing Misty Quinn and Quinn Sinclair. Suddenly she crashed into someone, and instinctively, she laughed and went to smear cake on the person ahead of her. But right as her hand was about to touch Ethan Sinclair, she froze.

Wait... Since when did Quinn get this tall?

Confused, she looked up—and locked eyes with Ethan Sinclair.

Ethan snaked an arm around Kiana’s waist. His dark eyes glanced at the cake on her fingers, then back to her face. "Try smearing that on me. I dare you."

He said that, but his body was already instinctively leaning down, as if making it easier for Kiana to plaster him with cake.

The next second, before he could react, Kiana shoved him with her elbow and stumbled away to chase after Quinn Sinclair.

Ethan: "..."

"Hahaha..."

Julian Garrison burst out laughing, slapping his thigh without mercy. "I never thought I’d live to see the great Fifth Master Sinclair get shown up like this."

Ethan shot Julian a glacial look, but that only made Julian laugh even harder. "Serves you right! Always saying the opposite of what you mean. Clearly, you wanna have fun with Kiana, but you insist on talking like that."

Ethan was so mad his whole face darkened. "What makes you think I want to hang out with that woman?"

"Both my eyes see it! Seriously, do you know what you look like right now?"

Before Ethan could answer, Julian went into a ridiculously exaggerated performance—pressing his index fingers together, pouting, and acting all aggrieved. "So jealous, Kiana’s having so much fun with everyone else, and she won’t even come play with me!"

Ethan: "..."

"I really wanna join Kiana, but I’m too shy. Can’t bring myself to do it."

Ethan finally snapped and kicked at Julian, but Julian dodged easily.

His reaction really did look like Julian hit the nail on the head—like he was flustered and exasperated.

Julian grabbed a big handful of whipped cream and smeared it all over Ethan. When Ethan saw his own sleeve coated in sticky, sweet cream, he curled his lips into a cold sneer. "Julian Garrison, this time next year will be the anniversary of your untimely death."

He grabbed a huge plate of cream and chased after Julian, who immediately bolted behind Kiana for cover and even whined to the tipsy Kiana, "Kiana, the villain’s after me! You have to protect me!" 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Ethan’s eyes went cold as he watched Julian clutch Kiana’s shoulders. "Get your ass out here. Hiding behind a girl—really?"

"Nope! If you’ve got the guts, come get me!"

Ethan: "..."

Even though she was drunk, whenever Kiana saw Ethan, she couldn’t help the ache in her heart.

She figured if she avoided Ethan she could avoid the pain, so she just walked off on her own.

"Hey... Kiana..."

Seeing her leave, Ethan hurled the plate of cream at Julian, but Julian spun Kiana around to use as a shield. The entire plateful of whipped cream landed right on Kiana’s face.

Cream covered Kiana’s eyes, nose, and mouth.

All three of them froze for a second.

Ethan was the first to snap out of it. He was just about to help wipe the cream from Kiana’s face when suddenly, he heard Quinn Sinclair yell out in rage.

"Ethan Sinclair!"

Next thing they knew, Quinn dashed over and pulled Kiana behind him, while Misty Quinn hurried over too, grabbing tissues to help clean Kiana’s face.

"You were clearly in the wrong and you still dare to hit my sister-in-law!"

At Quinn’s words, everyone who didn’t know the story looked at each other in confusion.

Sister-in-law?

Wasn’t Kiana just Ethan Sinclair’s secretary?

How did she suddenly become Quinn Sinclair’s sister-in-law?

If she was Ethan’s wife, then what was Kate Lynch?

Julian saw the misunderstanding and quickly explained with a laugh, "No one’s hitting anyone! We’re just messing around, that’s all!"

"Hmph, messing around? Do you see Ethan Sinclair as the type to play around? He totally did it on purpose!"

You really couldn’t blame Quinn for thinking that—she’d never, ever seen Ethan goofing around like the other boys in her whole life.

Seeing the chaos, Kate ran over, and when she saw the cream all over Ethan’s clothes, she started wiping it off and said, "Quinn, you got Ian wrong..."

"Shut up! You annoy me just being here!"

Kate’s face instantly went white with embarrassment. Sensing it, Ethan barked out angrily, "Quinn Sinclair, apologize to Kate."

"No way, if someone else wants to, go ahead!"

Even if Kiana was tipsy, she could tell an argument was brewing. She tugged Quinn’s sleeve and tried to make a gesture, but she was too dizzy—her legs buckled and she slumped right onto Quinn’s shoulder.

"Sis... Sis..."

Seeing just how drunk Kiana was, after shooting Ethan a glare, Quinn and Misty helped her back to the tent.

Julian looked at Ethan, completely lost. "Dude, what exactly did you do wrong?"

Ethan scowled, his expression as dark as ever.

...

Kiana had never had that much to drink before. As the alcohol hit, she felt the whole world spinning.

She hadn’t been lying on the bed long before she’d passed out.

Quinn Sinclair was pretty drunk herself, so after helping Kiana back to the tent, she flopped right down beside her.

It was poor Misty Quinn, who had to look after both of them—washing faces and changing clothes—since she could hold her liquor well.

Misty worked up a sweat and was exhausted, so she turned off the light and went back to her own tent.

After all this chaos, everyone else slowly returned to their tents to rest.

Tents were scarce on the mountain. Julian Garrison insisted on bunking with Ethan, and even claimed Ethan’s bed first.

Ethan was already in a foul mood, and now it just got worse.

Annoyed, he checked the time—it was already eleven-thirty—grabbed some clothes, and went outside.

Julian did an outrageously flirtatious pose on the bed. "Fifth Master, come back early, okay? Don’t leave me all alone in an empty bed~"
