Chapter 102-The Truth

Logan's POV

"Oh my god," Naomi gasped, slapping her mouth over and over again like she was trying to physically punish herself.

Honestly, she deserved it.

Because imagine making the same mistake that got her in trouble in the first place.

I asked a simple question. A straightforward yes or no would have been enough.

But no, Naomi had to make things complicated.

At this point, I doubted she was ever going to change.

This was just who she was—a talkative who didn't know when or where to stop running her mouth.

And the worst part?

I told her to answer with yes or no.

She heard me.

She even nodded in agreement.

And yet, out of all the possible responses, she chose to throw my own damn question back at me, asking if I had a crush on Tyler.

Seriously?

Who does that?

Only Naomi.

The one and only Naomi.

She kept mumbling to herself, still slapping her mouth.

"I'm so, so sorry," she whimpered. "I honestly apologize. I hope my mouth doesn't get me in trouble one day—"

I scoffed.

"You hope your mouth doesn't get you in trouble?" I interrupted, giving her a pointed look. "Naomi, your mouth has already gotten you in trouble. Multiple times. And guess what? It's still getting you into more trouble."

She winced, her shoulders slumping.

"I don't even know how those words came out of my mouth," she muttered, looking utterly defeated. "I swear, I wanted to answer correctly. The right answer was no, we're not dating. But instead... something else just slipped out, and now I'm in trouble."

I folded my arms, unimpressed.

"That's exactly who you are, Naomi. A talkative who can't keep her mouth shut when it matters."

She looked up at me, her eyes pleading.

"Sir Logan, please ignore that answer I gave you," she begged. "It wasn't intentional. I didn't mean to say that. Please don't punish me because of it."

I raised an eyebrow, waiting.

She wasn't done.

"If you add more punishment to this, my life will be miserable," she continued desperately.

I smirked.

"You see, Naomi, that is where you're getting me all wrong." I took a step closer, my voice dropping slightly.

"I want to make life miserable for you."

Her breath hitched.

"So punishing you? That's like a dream come true for me," I continued, tilting my head. "Do you think I'd feel guilty? That I'd hesitate?"

I chuckled darkly.

"Naomi, I'm going to punish you. And I'm going to be very happy doing it—because you deserve it."

Her lips trembled slightly, and for a second, I thought she was about to cry.

But then she straightened her shoulders and clenched her fists.

"Okay, I understand, Sir Logan," she said, her voice small

Then she did something I wasn't expecting.

She bargained.

"You can punish me all you want," she said quickly, "but please don't make me write another of those notebooks."

My smirk faded slightly.

Here we go.

"Please," she begged. "Give me another punishment. Anything but that. I won't be able to write eight extra 8-in-1 notebooks after finishing the first one."

She looked up at me with wide, sad eyes, as if she truly thought that would work on me.

Like I would care.

I stared at her blankly for a moment before slowly shaking my head.

"You really think I care about that sad look you're giving me?"

"You better fix that face of yours, Naomi," I warned, narrowing my eyes at her. "Unless you want me to increase your punishment. How about fifteen extra notebooks? By then, you'll really understand what suffering feels like."

I clicked my tongue in irritation, watching as she quickly straightened up, her expression shifting.

"I'm sorry, Sir Logan," she said in a small voice.

I scoffed. "Now, answer my question like a normal human being. The way every sane person is supposed to answer it."

She swallowed, nodding quickly.

"Me and Tyler aren't dating," she started, her voice a little shaky. "In fact, we're just neighbors who became friends because of his mom. That's all. We aren't dating. I doubt Tyler even has feelings for me."

Her words hit me like a splash of ice-cold water.

It was like my mind suddenly cleared, like I had been holding my breath ever since I first heard about their so-called relationship.

And now?

Now, I could finally breathe.

I didn't even realize how much I needed to hear that until this moment.

I let out a slow breath, my voice carefully controlled as I asked my next question. "You're sure he doesn't like you... but what about you? Do you like him?"

She hesitated for half a second before responding.

"Who wouldn't like Tyler?" she said with a shrug.

I felt my jaw tighten slightly.

She went on, completely unaware of the shift in my expression.

"Can't you see how hot he is? Tyler is so attractive, and he's totally boyfriend material. He's the kind of guy anyone would wish for."

I clenched my fists, forcing myself to stay still.

"But trust me, Sir Logan, I'm telling you the truth," she continued. "I liked Tyler... but that's it. He doesn't like me. Even when I joke about calling him my boyfriend, he immediately shuts it down. He always tells me to get that idea out of my head, that I'm not his girlfriend."

I exhaled slowly, my fingers relaxing as a small smirk tugged at my lips.

That's something.

Something I can hold on to.

I wasn't sure why it mattered so much, but it did.

I moved on to my next question—the final one. The one that would clear every last doubt.

"If you two aren't dating," I said, my voice low and firm, "then why are you letting the whole school believe that you are?"

Naomi let out a small sigh before responding.

"Sir Logan, we aren't dating," she repeated. "If you remember, I was the one who told Alexis that Tyler was my boyfriend. I only did it to get him out of that situation. After that, the rumor spread like wildfire. Everyone assumed we were together, and we just... went along with it."

I raised an eyebrow, waiting for her to continue.

She did.

"We had to play along because it kept Alexis off Tyler's back," she explained. "That was the main reason. And we figured it was easier to keep the act going for at least the whole semester—if not longer—so no one would keep bothering him."

I crossed my arms, still watching her carefully.

"And the blog?" I prompted.

She let out a small laugh, shaking her head.

"I had to agree to the rumors on the blog," she admitted. "And Tyler had to do the same. If he didn't, the bloggers would twist the narrative into something worse just to keep their dead blog alive. I didn't want to give them more gossip, so we just let them believe what they wanted."

I swallowed hard, taking in her words.

This.

This was what I had been waiting for. The explanation I needed.

And now that I had it...

Perfect.

I nodded once, satisfied.

"That's all I wanted to hear," I told her. "You can go now."

Naomi hesitated, glancing at me uncertainly.

"You're not going to punish me for what I said earlier?" she asked cautiously.

I tilted my head slightly, a smirk playing at my lips.

"Do you want me to punish you?"

She quickly shook her head, stepping back.

"Because if you do," I continued, my voice dropping lower, "trust me... I can definitely do that."
