Chapter 1337: Chapter 1271: Purifying the Soul

Not receiving a definite answer, Huang Yi was slightly disappointed.

He thought of Sharp Sword, who was also a player very familiar with the Underworld. Perhaps he might know something.

However, whether it was previously defending the last piece of sky or now climbing to the top of Purgatory Mountain, Sharp Sword had not appeared. It was unknown whether he was blocked outside The Second World or simply didn’t care about the fate of this world.

Finally, Assassin led everyone to the lake.

The water in this lake flowed upstream from the black ocean at the foot of the mountain, but after reaching here, it had become completely clean.

The lake was deep, crystal clear, and the water plants and fine sand at the bottom seemed within reach. Some small fish the length of a finger swam leisurely in the water, peaceful and serene.

Assassin came to the lakeside, squatted down, scooped up a handful of lake water, and went to Huang Yi and others, dabbing some on their foreheads.

Then, he took out a glowing precious sword, held it upright in front of his chest, and began chanting to Huang Yi and the others.

As he chanted, the lake water on Huang Yi and the others’ foreheads quickly permeated their bodies, transforming into streams of energy that coursed through them.

Huang Yi and the others only felt an itch all over their bodies, as if billions of insects were crawling through them, and wisps of black smoke began to emanate from them, emitting a foul stench.

Before long, the area around them was filled with a hazy black aura, reeking to high heaven.

The black smoke gathered toward Assassin’s sword, gradually dyeing its blade black.

Gradually, less and less black smoke rose from their bodies, and the stench faded away, ultimately disappearing, while Assassin’s sword turned as black as ink.

Huang Yi and the others felt refreshed, their bodies light as if some impurities had been completely cleansed.

Assassin ceased chanting, solemnly raising the now pitch-black sword and pressing it against Huang Yi’s forehead, suddenly slashing!

"Swish! Swish! Swish!" The sword slashed a stream of fierce Sword Qi, the blade edge bursting forth!

A line of hideous, terrifying black characters instantly appeared on Huang Yi’s forehead—

"Sin Sin Sin Sin Sin Sin Sin!"

The seven black "Sin" characters were deeply engraved, fierce and sharp, making Huang Yi seem like a heinous, unpardonable villain!

Huang Yi was startled, instinctively reaching up to touch his forehead. There was no blood, but the seven characters were unmistakably carved into his flesh!

Next, Assassin inscribed seven "Sin" characters on each person’s forehead, not sparing even Little Rascal, the beauty-loving girl!

Suddenly, Huang Yi and the others all appeared transformed, with seven large ’Sin’ characters on their foreheads, resembling ancient slaves and criminals. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

After completing this, Assassin put away the sword and solemnly said, "Your souls have been temporarily purified, allowing you to enter Purgatory more safely. Generally, the souls in Purgatory will not attack you. However, this is not true purification; Purgatory Mountain has seven major trials corresponding to the Seven Deadly Sins. Each trial you pass will cleanse one ’Sin’ character from your forehead, representing redemption of that particular sin. Once all seven sins are cleansed, your soul will be fully purified. From then on, achieving Divine Enthronement to enter Heaven Realm will be easier, and your soul will be stronger when entering the Underworld."

"Thank you very much!" Little Rascal pouted, thanked Assassin, and touched the characters on her forehead, finally suppressing that little bit of unhappiness. Compared to the benefits, being temporarily uglier didn’t matter.

"Did the Demon Clan member who killed you undergo this ritual?" Huang Yi thoughtfully asked at this moment. Spirit Demon and others did not go through this ritual; they entered Hell’s Gate directly. This meant that even if they reached the top of the mountain, their souls wouldn’t get true purification, and the benefits would not compare to Huang Yi and the others. But for the Heavenly Demon, it was uncertain.

Assassin nodded regretfully and said, "I purified his soul, but after returning him to Hell’s Gate, he suddenly killed me."

"We will do our best to avenge you!" Thunder God said.

After that, everyone returned to Hell’s Gate.

Back at Hell’s Gate, Huang Yi looked up at the grand Hell’s Gate.

Hell’s Gate was studded with millions of skulls, lined up neatly like door nails, all gazing down on him, exuding a powerful sense of oppression.

Huang Yi took a deep breath, stepped forward, and placed his hand on the massive Stone Gate, pushing firmly.

An instant heavy feedback came from his palm as the enormous Stone Gate slowly rumbled, opening a crack, like a narrow passage to another world was unveiled.

A surge of red light spilled from inside Hell’s Gate, obscuring the view within and full of eerie atmosphere.

"Let’s go in!" Huang Yi said, stepping through the crack in the door first, disappearing into the dense red light.

The others followed, stepping into Hell’s Gate one by one.

After entering Hell’s Gate, everything around them turned blood-red, making it impossible to see anything clearly.

After a long while, the red light gradually faded, and things reappeared before them.

At this moment, they stood on a city street, where all the buildings were blood-red, as if soaked in blood. The streets were filled with half-transparent souls, moving back and forth, unlike in a normal city; there was no everyday life, no shops or transactions on either side of the streets, as all the souls wandered aimlessly.

Huang Yi and his group had tangible bodies, not transparent, making them conspicuous among the souls.

Behind them was the towering Hell’s Gate, blocking the view of the outside world.

Huang Yi immediately activated the Eye of Time, his eyes emitting a faint Divine Light, allowing him to see the flow of time.

He wanted to see the path Spirit Demon and others had taken, so he could follow their tracks.

Spirit Demon and others might follow the markings or aura left by the Heavenly Demon, taking a shortcut to catch up with him. Discovering their path would also mean taking a shortcut.

But soon, he was shocked to find that, within the Eye of Time, this street hadn’t changed at all!

This Purgatory seemed to be a place without time, not part of the river of time!

"Let’s head directly up the mountain!" Huang Yi deactivated the Eye of Time, gazing at the half-mountain shrouded in dark clouds, and quickly walked along the street.
