Her Dark Desires-Chapter 83: The Truth
Right in front of her, the paramedics tried to save him. They kept pumping his heart again and again, but she knew he was gone, and with the way Cecilia was crying profusely, even she must have known that her son was gone.
Eliana felt her leg gave up strength but she did not fall because of a strong arm that held her by her waist.
"Jason, save my son! Please." Cecilia cried out, and maybe it was because of her pleading that the male paramedic didn’t give up. He continued pumping again and again until there was finally a sign that he was alive.
"Everyone give him space, we need to take him to the hospital immediately." The other male paramedic shouted, and the people who had gathered at the rooftop immediately cleared a path for them to take Jason to the hospital with his parents following behind them.
After the ambulance left, the mood of the party was no longer there, so everyone else called it a night, leading to an abrupt end of Charlotte’s party.
"This is bad. Our family will be all over the news and it definitely wouldn’t be for a good cause." Charlotte said as she grabbed herself a drink from the mini bar.
The hall was now empty, leaving only Charlotte, Eliana, Zachary, Vivian, and Ethan.
"A round figure of five million was how much it took to throw this party and within two hours, it has already ended," Charlotte shouted in frustration.
"Are you being serious? Someone almost died tonight!" Eliana asked in disbelief.
"And our name will be tied to an attempted murder come morning," Charlotte replied. "While you have the luxury of thinking about your ex-boyfriend’s chances of survival, I have to ensure that the attempted murder of the son of the Lennox family that took place at my party doesn’t bring down our stocks or, worst, our reputation."
"That’s enough," Zachary said while giving his mother a cold look.
"We need to find out who hurt Jason and why," Eliana spoke out as she found somewhere to sit.
Zachary looked at his wife and replied "We don’t need to find out anything, Eliana. We are not detectives and we are not going to be playing one either."
"But Zach..."
"Mom is right. What happened here could affect us negatively, and how to ensure we don’t get burned by this situation is the only thing we should be worried about."
"Well, it’s not the only thing I can be worried about!" Eliana shouted, angry at the fact that they were being cold and casual with Jason’s situation. Even though they were no longer friends, he was once her friend, and she had worked with him in commercials and runways. Tonight, she saw him lying on the floor as the paramedics tried their best to make his heart beat again.
Zachary looked at Eliana for a few seconds and let out a sigh as he said, "Let’s call it a night. I think we are all tired and need to get some rest."
"Vivian booked a room in the hotel for me," Charlotte said.
"Yes, ma."
"Should I also book a room for you and madam?" Ethan asked.
"No, we will go home," Zachary said and walked toward his wife. He lowered himself and gently stroked her hair as he said, "Let’s go home and get some rest. I’m sure you will feel better tomorrow."
Eliana nodded and held his hand as they both left the hall to their home.
On getting home, Eliana gave Leo his food, and after feeding Leo, Zachary asked her to take a shower, and he joined her a few minutes later. After their shower, he dried her hair and put one of his shirts on her before stroking her hair as she closed her eyes to sleep.
As soon as he was sure she was already asleep, Zach affectionately kissed her on her forehead before getting out of bed to call Ryan.
"Hey, I heard what happened," Ryan said after answering the call.
"So fast."
"Yeah, Mom called me and started ranting even though I told her I was busy. It’s not as if I’m a businessman, what does she want me to do?" Ryan said.
"You sound tired," Zach stated.
"It must be because I haven’t slept for days, but what is bothering you? I know you did not call me by this time of the night to only check up on me."
"You are right, something is bothering me. Before that girl came into the hall to tell us that Jason had been stabbed, Eliana had received a message from him saying he wanted to meet her at the rooftop, and with the time the message was sent to the time that girl had called for help, it was just a minute difference."
"It’s impossible that she would have reached the hall from the event in just a minute."
"And that means, Jason had already been stabbed when Eliana received that message. Someone tried to set her up and I want to know who."
Ryan sighed and said, "Since the person who was attacked is the son of a wealthy family, I’m sure the police will be gathered there like bees tomorrow morning, but I think I can get someone to check on the security footage tonight, even before the police do."
"Okay, thank you," Zachary replied and ended the call. Right now, he has no suspect in mind but he knew that whoever it was that stabbed Jason must also have been the same person to have texted Eliana, but who could that person be?
.....
In the hospital, David and Cecilia kept praying as the doctors operated on Jason. According to them, the knife pierced his lung, and he immediately needed surgery.
Leah just stood in a corner crying, without saying a word to anyone. On one hand, she was concerned about Jason, but on the other hand, she was concerned about the Police coming to ask her questions. What if everyone finds out the truth? How was she going to explain how she found Jason on the rooftop and what she was even doing there in the first place?
