Help! The Frosty Noble's Son Is in Love With Me!-Chapter 454 - 8: The Boss and the Secretary
Qu Fulan certainly didn’t run into a wall.
But she almost choked on her own saliva, coughing violently and having no chance to explain.
In contrast, the guy from the blind date was overwhelmed by the man in front of him—so handsome it was unreal, exuding an air of nobility that screamed big shot—and he ended up scurrying away.
Qu Fulan: Now he knows to run away. Where did all his persistence go earlier? He messed things up like that, and then just ran off? What a coward!
If she could, she’d want to run too. But she could only dutifully explain to her boss.
"No, he was the blind date from before. I rejected him, but he kept bothering me..."
"You didn’t tell him you have a boyfriend?" the boss asked.
Qu Fulan was speechless at this. If she’d told the guy she had a boyfriend, he wouldn’t have bothered her. Such a simple truth, she understood it well enough, but she didn’t think she had a boyfriend, so she hadn’t mentioned it...
Of course, she couldn’t say this out loud, so she lied, "I didn’t have a chance to say it."
After speaking, she didn’t give him a chance to respond and probed, "Boss, are you here for business?"
"To bring you a fruit basket." With that, he turned slightly, and the assistant behind him handed over a basket and flowers. "These are gifts for your mother."
Yesterday, she had declined his hospital visit by saying she wasn’t mentally prepared, and that her mother didn’t like crowds or strangers; and today he sent the fruit basket and flowers.
Now that the gifts were given, Qu Fulan felt bad refusing them, and thanked him profusely.
"When are you available?" he asked.
Upon hearing this, Qu Fulan immediately sensed trouble and said, "I’m not free today at all. I need to stay with my mom, sorry."
Actually, she didn’t need to stay. Her mother just had to recuperate in the hospital; it wasn’t like she was bedridden. Besides, with her personality, she’d made friends with everyone on her floor in just two days. She’s never bored. Qu Fulan’s presence would only interfere with her socializing. Most of the time, she’d just visit briefly and leave.
Everyone has their own circle and social connections, and her mom is the same.
But even when she was free, she didn’t want to hang out with her boss. She wasn’t ready for such high-speed socializing yet.
Her boss didn’t insist and left the fruit basket and flowers before heading off.
Qu Fulan managed to reclaim her freedom for the day, because being with her boss always felt like she was working.
Unfortunately, free time flies by quickly, and she was back at work the next day. Qu Fulan was nervously pondering how to face her boss, but before she could prepare her mindset, it was already work time.
When she finally faced him, she found him as indifferent as ever, unaffected by the blind date incident and not showing her any special treatment because she was supposedly his girlfriend. Everything was just as it had been.
Qu Fulan felt relieved but was also confused about what he meant. Had he come to his senses and decided the words he said earlier didn’t count? Or was there another reason she couldn’t understand?
During work hours, she didn’t have much time to overthink and quickly got absorbed in her tasks. After work, the boss asked her to get into the car and fastened her seatbelt.
Only then did she finally understand what the boss meant.
The boyfriend-girlfriend relationship was still in effect in the boss’s view, but he kept work separate from his private life. Only after work did he return to his boyfriend persona.
Qu Fulan thought he was going to drive her home or perhaps find a random restaurant for dinner, but he drove straight to his place!
Yes, he took her back to his house!
Qu Fulan had been his secretary for two years and knew perfectly well where his place was.
The boss had many houses; the Pei Mansion was well-known, a large family residence where he visited his grandfather occasionally. He spent the rest of the time in his private residence.
His private residence was in a wealthy area where all the local big shots lived. Ordinary people couldn’t get in, but Qu Fulan, as his secretary, often delivered documents there. Coming empty-handed like today was a first.
After entering the house, the boss took off his coat and rolled up his sleeves, showing his toned arms. "The TV remote is in the cabinet on the left, and the Wi-Fi password is my mobile number. Sit for a while; I’m going to cook."
Qu Fulan sat on the sofa, feeling somewhat out of touch. She’d felt like this since entering the area, and everything seemed surreal.
The boss had brought her home.
The boss was cooking for her.
If they hadn’t just confirmed their relationship yesterday, she’d have thought they’d been dating for years and were used to bringing each other home and cooking.
She didn’t turn on the TV but picked up her phone instead and connected to Wi-Fi. Data fees were expensive, and naturally, she wouldn’t use it if she didn’t have to. Upon opening her phone, she saw a message from a friend.
Asking where she was.
She replied that she was at her boss’s house.
Her friend: Working late again today?
See, even her friend knew that her visiting the boss’s house could only mean one thing—for work.
She paused her fingers on the mobile keyboard for a moment and then typed: Not working late.
Her friend replied quickly: Then what are you doing there? Don’t tell me you took my advice and are trying to hook up with your boss?
Qu Fulan: What if I said it was him trying to hook up with me?
Her friend: Is today April Fool’s Day?
The next message came quickly: It’s not April Fool’s. What kind of nonsense are you talking?
Qu Fulan: Haha.
Her friend sent a pile of messages joking about how overworked she was and how she must have snapped.
Qu Fulan put down her phone, ignoring her friend’s teasing, and lay on the sofa to relax her mind.
The occurrences of these last few days had been so tumultuous, she hadn’t been able to adapt.
She considered herself adaptable in other matters, but when it came to relationships, it felt too challenging.
This was mainly because her partner was the boss, and his behavior seemed to keep confusing and astounding her.
To try and calm herself, she started wandering around to take a look.
In the past when she came, it was strictly for work, and she never dared to look around. Now, she felt she could.
The house was villa-style, with a garden and a swimming pool, not to mention its high-end, luxurious appearance. In just two words: it’s lavish!
After taking a look around, she returned to the living room and saw the boss chopping vegetables in the kitchen.
It was the first time she’d seen the boss cook. Tall and fit, he was a picturesque sight in the kitchen, making even cooking seem unbelievably handsome with his good looks and physique.
Everyone appreciates beautiful things, and Qu Fulan was no exception. No matter how much she’d privately complained about her boss due to work, in all honesty, he was a competent employer and had never mistreated his staff.
Especially since he could cook so well, which was definitely a bonus in relationship terms.
Yet this man was now her boyfriend?
How incredible was that?
She felt that she had to ask him directly what he meant, as she couldn’t continue being this clueless.
During dinner, Qu Fulan ate absentmindedly, constantly preparing how to speak up, but she always faltered upon seeing his steadfast face that demanded silence during meals. After multiple attempts, she finally summoned the courage to ask.
"Boss, are you serious?"
Or is this just a whim, playing with her feelings?
With such a serious question, she expected him to answer seriously too.
But the boss just glanced at her and said, "If I wasn’t serious, why would I bring you home?"
Damn, what blunt words! So straightforward it was maddening.
