Chapter 110: The Elf’s Price

There it was again. Was he turning this into a bit? Damien wondered. Should he just laugh it off? He caught the elf’s gaze and tried offering a smile, but it must’ve come out awkwardly because the elf’s expression fell immediately.

"Oh... he laughed at me... laughed at me like all those carefree types do, looking down on me for being a virgin..." he muttered miserably.

Let’s just... pretend I didn’t hear that, Damien thought, quickly deciding to change the subject.

Sebas cleared his throat. "Now then, Teacher... while it’s certainly good to reconnect, may we perhaps move on to the matter at hand?"

"Ah, yes, of course," the elf replied weakly, his face still buried in the sofa cushions. He slowly sat up, taking on a more serious tone. "So I hear something has happened to him? I’d like to hear all the details."

Though he straightened up and assumed a focused demeanor, Damien couldn’t help but wonder. The elf might be Sebas and Theo’s esteemed teacher, but could someone like this really be of any help?

It was difficult to feel any real confidence from him.

After listening to Sebas’s explanation, the elf fell silent who his arms crossed, as he sat on the sofa. The heavy atmosphere in the office was a stark contrast to the mood from just moments ago.

"...So even Theo managed to get himself into such a ridiculous situation. And with you there, Sebas?" the elf remarked.

"I have no excuse," Sebas replied, bowing his head deeply.

It was true—this incident had happened because Theo hadn’t thought things through. There was little that could be said to defend it. And as the underlying cause, Damien felt the sting of responsibility. Everyone there, himself included, had underestimated the unknown dangers.

"Well, even so, it’s clear that this lovebird from another world was something beyond any of you," the elf continued. "Very well. I’ll lend you one of my magic device."

So that’s it, Damien thought. Sebas was trying to borrow a magic device from this elf—for Theo’s treatment. The same elf who was now reaching over with a serious expression and patting Damien’s rear. If it was for Theo’s sake, Damien supposed he could tolerate this.

"In exchange, however, the price will be—"

"No." Sebas interrupted, cutting the elf off before he could state his demand.

Wait—no? Damien thought, clenching his fist. Could he hit this guy, then?

But before he could make a move, Leonide clung to Damien’s arm, holding him back. Move over, Leonide. This elf needs a punch.

"The main issue is yet to come," Sebas said.

Now the elf’s hand had wandered to Damien’s inner thigh. Could he just get one punch in? He’d be ready to listen to anything after that.

...

After being calmed down by Leonide, Damien reluctantly sat back on the sofa, choosing to let the elf off with just a pinch to his hand. The elf now sat on the opposite sofa with tears in his eyes as he blew on his reddened hand.

"First, I must ask that what we discuss here remains confidential. Is that understood?" Sebas said, standing beside the sofa.

Damien and Leonide both nodded.

"Understood," the elf replied with an air of authority.

"Then, from here, I’ll leave the explanation to you Whitlock," Sebas announced while looking at Leonide.

Leonide?

Introduced by Sebas, Leonide bowed to the elf.

"My name is Leonide. It is a great honor to have the opportunity to meet with you, Your Excellency."

"Enough with the formalities, just get to the point," the elf dismissed him.

"You act so high and mighty, despite being a virgin..." Damien muttered quietly, but just loud enough for everyone to hear.

Looking at the elf’s eyes that were began to water.

Strictly speaking, he was still a virgin too, so decided to stay quiet.

Ignoring them, Leonide continued, his face serious and determined, as if he had made up his mind about something important.

"Now, I will get to the main topic."

With those words, Leonide took a brief pause, seemingly gathering his resolve before continuing.

"I have the ability to restore other people magic power."

What?

The elf raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"

The elf’s face lit up with interest, and Damien couldn’t help but stare at Leonide with wide eyes. He had never heard anyone mention such an ability before. Based on the elf’s reaction, it was clear how rare it must be.

A person with such a rare ability was right here with them!

This meant Theo could be saved!

Damien didn’t even consider the possibility that Leonide was lying.

"What kind of ability is that?" the elf asked, now even more intrigued.

"I can restore someone’s magic power just by being nearby," Leonide explained.

"When did you first realize this?"

"When I was young, I healed a traveling magician who had depleted his magic power."

"What happened to that magician?"

"He left without even realizing he had been healed, so I don’t know what happened to him."

"Why have you kept this a secret until now?"

"It’s an embarrassing story, but because my ability is so rare, I was afraid of being discovered."

"And why do you want to reveal it now?"

"Because Master Theo has found himself in this situation, and I couldn’t stand by any longer."

Leonide answered the elf’s questions without hesitation, his tone steady and confident.

"I see, Sebas. So you want me to verify the truth of this conman’s story, don’t you!?" the elf said, standing up, confident in his own judgment.

"No, that’s not it," Sebas replied calmly, easily disproving the elf’s assumption. The elf stumbled slightly, clearly caught off guard.

Damien couldn’t help but feel a bit smug at how quickly the elf had been shut down.

"The magic recovery story is definitely true," Sebas added, as if confirming something.

Had Sebas already verified the claim when they were talking earlier in the office?

"I’d like you to confirm whether this ability could have any negative impact on young master," Sebas said to the elf, his voice firm.

Damien was confused. What did that mean?
