Chapter 166: BeastHeaven Will Burn

Avaren;

I walk onto the clearing, and I take a deep breath as the night’s clean air embraces my skin.

Although I can not see, the feel of the moon on my skin tells me that the moon rays have spread over the clearing like fine silk. And for the first time in a long time, I almost find myself wishing I could see again.

"Lord Avaren." I hear my men chorus, and I am pulled out of my thoughts.

I walk further into the clearing, and once I am standing in the middle of the ring made by ten of them, I stretch a hand before me.

The ground rumbles and groans in response to my magic, and I feel the ground tremble beneath my bare feet as I carve a throne of stone from it. Once the throne is fully erect, I let my hand down and walk over to it.

I let myself onto it, and with a clap of my hands, my men also sit.

"What new information have we gotten?" I demand with boredom, and beside me, I hear Secan, my aide, dust his robe as he stands up.

"Our most gracious Lord Avaren, your suspicions were right... The boy is a primodial. The chaos that ensued five days ago is all the proof we need." He speaks, and I pause.

I turn my head in his direction, and the smell of fear instantly floods the air as he realises that his response irritated me.

I may not have my sight, but I know that he’s already trembling like a leaf in a storm.

"I know you’re foolish, Secan, but I don’t believe you to be THAT foolish! I asked for new information. Not what I already know." I spit in unbridled disgust, and instantly, he crumbles to the ground with his head pressed against the dirt.

"Forgive me, Sire. My incompetence remains my biggest flaw." He rambles, but I have no interest in his theatrics tonight.

We have been stalking Gravemaw for weeks now, and yet we have gotten nothing tangible. One of my men even foolishly got captured.

Thankfully, he knew it was better to kill himself than rat out my plans.

If I have to stay here any longer without any progress, I’m going to lose it!

"What valuable information have any of you gotten?!" I growl as I slam my palm against the throne I’m on, and my magic flickers in response to my rage.

Fear rises in the air like troubled dust, and the aroma of their fright soothes my anger. But only a little.

"My... My Lord, there is something." Secan, who’s still on the floor, stutters, and my head turns in his direction, as my patience lessens.

"Out with it then!" I rage, and he gasp.

"I...I found out that Queen Cassia and... and Koda are planning a wedding. K...Koda and the boy are to wed during the next full moon. King Wilhelm and all his sons would be present. It... It may be the perfect time to wipe out all the Ashfangs. At least most of them." He stutters, and I pause.

It takes a second to process the information, and glee slowly floods my heart, as a satisfied smile crawls onto my face at the delectable thought.

I rest my chin against my fist as the idea turns sweet in my mouth.

What a wonderful turn of events. The total execution of the Ashfang bloodline.

The thought alone is like honey on my tongue.

"Forgive my impudence, sire. But the boy is a primodial. Is it safe to attack during a full moon? That’s when Primodials are at their strongest." Plecor’s voice breaks into my thoughts, and I stay silent as his words fall into place in my mind.

His concern is valid, but it doesn’t bother me. Especially with how clueless the boy currently is about the power he’s been undeservedly bestowed.

"Full moon, or not... We will attack during the wedding, Plecor." I reply as a smirk crawls onto my face.

"Wilhelm and most of his sons will be there. Why miss the chance to kill a dozen birds with one stone?" I add, and I’m met with no further form of objection.

My mind runs to that little weed.

Elian.

A primordial. An abomination.

A being with power he never worked to attain. A being who stands as a mockery to people like me who have sacrificed so much to get what we have.

To get the power I wield today, I had to give up my sight. I lost a part of me to gain the power I wanted, and yet... This boy... would wield more power just for existing?

No.

Never!

Warlocks are meant to rule. We are the stronger breeds. We are the masters over the simpletons with no magic.

So, from whence comes this privileged prat to ruin all I’ve fought to build!?

I will destroy him. Crush him with my own hands before he becomes a real threat.

"We have come too far to lose. If we fail, magic falls. Witches and warlocks are the rightful rulers of the world. We can not let some primordial ruin all we’ve worked for!" I speak with finality as I rise, and all my men rise with me.

I listen to them cheer, and then their chants follow.

"Long live Lord Avaren!!" They chant, and I lift my face to the sky as I fill my lungs with the promises in the pure air.

"Brace yourself, Wilhelm. Beast heaven is about to burn to the ground, and I will bask in its ashes." I speak into the night just as a sadistic chuckle rips through me. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

I feel my magic crackle at my fingertips with the promise of destruction, and shivers run through me as I anticipate the sight of BeastHeaven crumbled to the ground, and the birth of a world where my kind would rule and live freely, instead of suffering in hiding like criminals.

All these people who have spat on us... all of them who have forced us to live like fugitives... they will pay.

They’ll burn, and I will dance to their screams.

But first, let’s eliminate their potential saviour. Elian.

They have no idea what’s coming for them...
