Hello, Ex! I Finally Found My Worth!-Chapter 159: Fix This
Chapter 159 - Fix This
Chloe stepped into her father's house, her heels clicking against the marble floor as she walked toward the living room.
She spotted Mr. Stone sitting on his favorite armchair, his face buried in a newspaper. He didn't look up as she entered, but she knew he was aware of her presence.
Without glancing away from the paper, he asked, "Have you spoken to your brother?"
Chloe frowned but tried not to let her displeasure show. He hadn't even asked how she was but was asking if she'd spoken to his son.
Despite always trying to show him she was the best child he could ever have, he was just bent on loving that useless son of his. Probably because he was a son or because he was the product of the love of his life while her mother was just a secretary that seduced him and caused the death of his wife.
Chloe let out a dramatic sigh, making sure to sound distressed. "Yes, I have," she said, walking closer. She paused, then added, her voice laced with fake vulnerability, "But he slapped me and asked me never to show my face to him again."
At that, Mr. Stone finally looked up. His frown deepened, and his grip on the newspaper tightened. "What?" he demanded, his voice sharp. "Hunter slapped you? Why?"
Chloe bit her lip, pretending to hesitate before nodding. "Yes, Dad. I was only trying to talk some sense into him like you asked, but he refused to listen. He's lost all respect for this family, for you. He doesn't even want to hear anything about you."
Mr. Stone's eyes darkened with anger. "Why would Hunter do that? What exactly did you say to him?" He asked wondering why Hunter was always trying to spite him in anyway possible.
Chloe lowered her gaze as if pained, but deep down, she was enjoying this. She was planting seeds—seeds of doubt, anger, and division.
Perhaps after this, her father would finally forget all that Hunter and focus on her. She thought as she quickly masked her expression into that of disappointment abd pain.
"He told me he doesn't care about this family anymore. That he wants nothing to do with us. He even said he wishes to be disowned that he told you that already." She glanced up, meeting her father's gaze with a look of false sadness. "He said he was going to the registry to change his name into his mother's maiden name. He's already disowned me and you, dad."
Mr. Stone's face twisted in disbelief. "That's impossible. Hunter would never—"
"He did," Chloe cut in, her voice rising with fake urgency. "He has no respect for you as his father! He doesn't deserve to be part of this family."
Mr. Stone clenched his jaw. He sat in silence for a moment, processing what she had just said. Chloe could see his hands tighten into fists, his breathing turning heavier.
:Good, she thought. He's angry. Just like I wanted.' She told herself but then, he did something she hadn't expected.
He stood up, pacing back and forth. She had expected him to yell, scream and immediately call Hunter to severe ties with him in anger.

Pacing this way only meant he was thinking and she didn't like that.
"Dad—"
"I'm going to talk to him," Mr. Stone declared, cutting her off. "I won't let this nonsense continue."
Chloe's heart skipped a beat. No, no, no... She had planned to turn her father against Hunter, not to make him talk things out.
"Why would you go there? What nonsense? He's already made his stance, Dad," she said quickly, stepping in front of him to block his path.
Mr. Stone exhaled, looking at her with exasperation. "I can't let this go on. He's only being this way because of me abd how hard I've pushed him. It's time we settled this. He needs to know I don't hate him."
Chloe swallowed hard. "There's nothing to settle! He doesn't want anything to do with you! He won't even listen to you! Just let him be!" Chloe said, her tone sharper than she intended.
Mr. Stone shook his head. "I can't let him be. I should let him know I never intended to take the restaurant from him, Chloe. You know that too. I only wanted to push him to be a better man. He's my son, my heir. That will never change. Maybe all this will stop once he knows my true intentions."
Her nails dug into her palms. Damn it.
She had spent so much time fueling the fire between them, making sure they never reconciled. And now, it was all falling apart. She wasn't going to let it happen.
"You can't go there," she snapped, grabbing his arm. "I thought you were joking when you said you were making him the inheritor of everything, but now I see you were serious and wouldn't change your Will at all." She scoffed bitterly. "How could you do that?"
She had seen his will five years ago and had since then vowed to take advantage of the differences between Hunter abd their father so he could transfer majority of his properties to her or at least share it in halves.
She had started creating further rifts for them all these years but and had thought he'd change his will but after listening to him the last time and seeing how he was bent on resolving things between him and Hunter, she knew he hadn't changed it. He still thought less of her.
Mr. Stone froze. His eyes narrowed. "How do you know about that?" He asked, wondering how and when she had learned about it.
Chloe hesitated for a split second before lifting her chin. "It doesn't matter. What matters is that you fix this. Call your lawyer and make me your successor instead. You have to do it now else I'm going to order my men to kill your son," she said, her expression showing just how serious she was.
Mr. Stone's expression darkened. "What?" He asked in disbelief and she brought out her phone, wanting to show him that she could actually order some men to kill his precious son.
