The maids turned to look at each other, neither the twins nor the assistant head maid was around right now and they didn’t know what to say to their lady’s unexpected request.
"My lady, Astrid and Aurora are both busy. We can attend to you, you don’t have to worry."
However, Serena already made up her mind, she felt a little bit comfortable with the twins since they were with her throughout today, so she felt fine with them bathing her.
"You don’t need to worry, all of you go out and only the twins is allowed to stay with me." Serena said loudly this time, the maids who were on the other side of the room preparing her tub heard her, Lila and the other maids with her quickly rushed to meet Serena.
Lila stepped forward, "My lady, I’m afraid that would not be possible. We are responsible for you right now, and everyone of us here in this room has their own responsibility. And it can’t be limited to two people."
Serena stared at the girl for some time, for some reason she could not understand why the girl was speaking to her as if she was angry with her or like she had offended her in some ways that Serena wasn’t aware of. But if they wanted to serve her, they had to accept her wishes and heed to her request. She couldn’t understand why they had to turn every small matter to a big deal.
"Like I said, I would like to have the twins attend to me. That’s an order." Serena declared, she didn’t know where the sudden boldness came from, but the more she looked at the maid, the more she was getting annoyed. It felt like the girl was being disrespectful. And Serena couldn’t accept that.
Lila almost scoffed, but she held herself, since Lady Ava already gave her orders, she wanted to be close to the human. She was torn between respecting the wishes of the new lady she was ordered to serve or to stick with the plan she had with Lady Ava. Serena felt the maids gaze on her her for some time before she saw her look at the maids she came with, and told them to leave the room, but not without glaring at the twins.
"Then we’ll wait for you in the dressing room." Lila responded, before she walked out of the bath, with the maids trailing after her.
Serena took a deep breath before smiling at the twins, when they were finally alone. She wanted to talk with them about how the banquet was like.
It wasn’t like it was a royal wedding and it was merely just a banquet ceremony yo announce the arrival of King Eiravyn’s mate.
It was said that the preparation for the banquet ceremony had started before the daybreak, even before Serena could wake up. According to the ritual and traditions of the Dark Shade Kingdom it was expected for the queen to be incharge of the preparation of any event held in the royal house but since nobody knew who Eiravyn planned to announce as his queen this night. Valois took it upon himself to prepare for the banquet this evening, he in turn was The Who one appointed the maids who’d be responsible for dressing Serena. It was a direct order from the king. So, the preparations for the banquet had began since early morning.
As Serena had instructed the other servants to leave the room. Astrid and Aurora prepared he r bath.
A special bath was prepared for Serena. It was inexpected for her to soak and wash herself with scented oil. The tub as filled with warm water with flower petals floating on its surface. Jasmine oil, and other scented oil was mixed with the water, causing the entire bath chamber to be filled with pleasing and sweet scent, the smell was calming and addictive, that Serena felt dream to the smile. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
My lady, please step into the bath so we can start washing you." Astrid said as soon as they were done with filling the tub with scented flowers, she stepped to the side to let Serena pass through.
Serena didn’t need to be told twice, because she was already tempted to get into the tub. The delicate fragrance coming from the tub caused her chest to feel light, and she couldn’t help but take a huge mouthful of air to calm herself. She silently allowed the servants removed the clothes from her and allowed them wear her a thin clothes that looked like a nightgown. Serena was still uncomfortable with exposing het bare body but she persisted before she lowered herself into the bathtub. Serena sighed as soon as her body came in contact with the water.
Astrid began waving her hair while Aurora helped her lather her skin. Only the sounds of water splashing could be heard echoing inside the bath chamber. Serena was always used to silence, but today, it was different. With everything that happened this afternoon with the whole situation she had with Eiravyn’s be her little altercation with Ava. Serena felt a little tension with the twins which was why she had wanted to be alone with them, she wanted to make sure they were alright. The two servants looked concentrated in their task of washing her, the king of concentration a subordinate gives when they had been reprimanded.
"Are you girls alright?" Serena probed. "If anything I hope His Majesty didn’t punish you, and I hope I didn’t put you girls in trouble?"
This pulled the servants outs of their thoughts, they turned to look at Serena, surprise to hear her speak first.
"Please don’t say that, it’s all our fault, we should have taken better care of you. We are so sorry." the servants said, while bowing. They couldn’t believe that Serena would take it upon herself to start a conversation, a lady doing that when their servants was the one at fault was unheard of. It showed that Serena was a simple and kind hearted person and they felt ashamed about the way they behaved when Lady Ava was speaking to her, they felt like they should have stepped out for her as her servants but they didn’t. They had thoughts lady Ava would be queen. It was irresponsible of them that they couldn’t bear to look at Serena or talk with her.
