Heavenly Opposers-Chapter 281 - 280-Very ’Light’ Demands.
’The meeting has been set, right?’
[Yes, they are more than anxious to meet with you]
To All-Seer’s reply, Azrail spoke,
’Then let’s go.’
With that, Azrail’s body started to break down until he opened his eyes again. He appeared in a room to which he was given the link to enter, his eyes meeting upon the brown-skinned elves in front of him. There were a total of three within the room, and the elders of the place arranged well and nicely.
The whole place he appeared in looked like a huge room with chandeliers floating high, beautiful scents filling his nose, the entire room itself looking like a private meeting room, with beautiful furniture and great designs everywhere, the whole place looking humongous and luxurious, similar to the place for a king.
Just the place itself was very big; one didn’t have to guess much about how big the whole area covering it would be.
All three of the elders in front of Azrail looked to be in their late 30s, but their eyes held a powerful wisdom that could not be stopped, a more mature and controlled aura around them as Azrail formed himself in the room. His small stature caught them off guard, but they didn’t pay much heed to it as the male on top took the lead first.
"I am pleased to have you with us, Mr Dreadcloak.’"
"It’s good to be here too," Azrail replied in a rough voice as he gave his hand forth for a shake, to which the older gentleman took it up, his aged eyes focusing and peering into Azrail’s look, which stayed hidden as Azrail spoke.
"Why don’t we get right to business?"
"A straightforward man, it’s something I can appreciate."
The elder wood elf spoke all three of them, two males and a female radiating authority all over their body, one that can only be given by people who have sat in positions of power for a long time, ones that know how to deal with the political appeals that come their way. Thus, all four of them quickly took seats.
The three elders quickly named themselves.
"I am the 1st elder of the council, Therion Bough, and the one next to me is the 2nd elder, Caelthorn Win, while the beautiful woman in the last is the 3rd elder, Aeloria Moo."
"It’s nice to meet you all," Azrail spoke softly, to which Therion took the lead as he asked with narrowed eyes,
"I would like to know, how did you get to know about the situation of our forest?"
To his question, Azrail directly replied,
"A merchant doesn’t give away his secrets, elder Therion; you should know that."
To which the man shrugged his shoulder, the depth in them getting deeper as he replied,
"It was worth a shot asking, that’s all."
To which Aeloria suddenly spoke,
"It would have been good for us to know the traitor that has sold us out for money," a bit of dislike to her voice, but she didn’t go out of her way to make anything bad for Azrail. The three of them are well-versed people with the way of life; thus, trying to irritate Azrail would only lead to things getting worse for them. Therion took the lead again as he spoke.
"Please don’t mind her, elder Aeloria is just passionate about ourselves, after all, you can understand our situation, no?"
A certain spike in his voice as Therion spoke, to which Azrail nodded his head as he replied,
" can understand it; it’s something natural, after all."
To which Caelthorn suddenly spoke,
"Please excuse my rudeness, but I would like to know more about your merchant group since I couldn’t find anything much about yourself or your merchant group when I searched about it."
His question carried a veiled intent in many ways, but Azrail didn’t fall for his slight provocation. The right to do any kind of merchant work is only approved after the merchant union gives the approval, and you would also get a chance to name your own merchant group, which All-Seer had already done for him.
Such steps aren’t hard, they just require the person to send a well-detailed document to the merchant union, along with a large amount of money and show a possible way of earning. Within moments, everything would be done for you. Creating a merchant group is easy, the issue is keeping and running one.
In the current scenario, Azrail only had his own name and the merchant group, which he had put forth under the name Radiant Redemption. Quite the cheesy name, but it would hold and is quite good for him now, too, but it also means that there aren’t many transactions or movements that can be shown for Azrail’s merchant group.
Thus, Azrail leaned into his chair, his hidden face peering at Caelthorn as he spoke,
"Our group is much more of a new establishment, but make no doubts, we are very powerful and very well established. We also have the necessary connections we can use if we want to."
A veiled threat was hidden in Azrail’s words, and the three of them picked up on it. A frown marred the stunning face of Aeloria, but she didn’t get a moment to speak as the main leader, Therion, took control.
"Okay, that’s enough, we didn’t get here to squabble like children, did we?"
His light voice quickly de-escalated the situation, making the room feel a lot softer and warmer, the unique scent of nature filling the room for a moment. The elven woman took back control, all of them still sitting around with their sparkling brown skin, elongated ears that looked ticklish, and eyes set in different colours but with matching brown hair.
Their beauty all stemmed from their high level of cultivation, while their presence that filled the room was not something to scoff at. Thankfully, the play of cultivation level wasn’t happening here, and pressuring a merchant with your cultivation is strictly taboo by the merchant union, which would cause huge levels of problems for the people involved.
"I think we have marked each other enough. Why don’t we get to the main topic then?" Therion spoke, his smile innocent and warm as a maiden’s, but Azrail didn’t fall for it. He kept his guard up. Until now, it had been the play of the three testing him, each of their actions controlled and planned before, trying to get things from him that could be used in the negotiation or against him.
The mark of a good merchant is to see and understand his opponents while not letting anything slip away. Thus, the atmosphere cooled down. Each group was done with probing the other, and now the true situation was about to unfold.
"As I said in my contact with you, I have a way to save your forest and keep everything you all love with you, too."
"Yes, you did mention that, but what is this method, and what should we give you to get it?"
Therion asked, the atmosphere now a bit heated, to which, leaning and relaxing in the chair, Azrail spoke,

"Trade rights. I want you to transfer all the trade rights of your wood over to my merchant group. I want to deal exclusively with your works, and I want the connection with all of you."
The demands he gave made the eyes of all three of them widen because in no way were all of them light demands.
