Heavenly Dragon Doctor Son-in-Law-Chapter 36 - 37: Xuewu’s Misunderstanding!
Her perfect, exquisite figure was fully revealed. Soft moonlight cascaded over her stunning face and flowing hair, making her seem like a celestial being untouched by the mortal world.
Tang Xuewu bent down to support Qin Long, looking at him with her beautiful, peach-blossom eyes. "Qin Long," she said with the utmost earnestness, "it was I who took you in. Aside from me, no one else has the right to drive you away. Ignore what the Tang family says. You are not living for others, but for yourself."
"Mm," Qin Long nodded vigorously.
"Alright, let’s go home," Tang Xuewu said. As she began to push his wheelchair, she added, "And from now on, you’re not allowed to go out alone at night."
"I understand," Qin Long replied with a gentle smile, his eyes full of tenderness.
Their intimate actions were like those of an old, loving married couple.
Xiao Lingyue’s eyes widened. She was rooted to the spot, petrified.
Is this still the same Heavenly Dragon who once commanded the world? With a single command, his million-strong Heavenly Dragon Army was invincible. How could the Heavenly Dragon, so aloof and lethally decisive, be this obedient? Not even the Emperor of Great Xia could command such deference. Wielding the Punishment Sword, he could execute first and report later.
Yet, Qin Long followed Tang Xuewu’s every word, his tone filled with affection. This was something Xiao Lingyue could not believe. Beyond her shock, she felt a faint sense of loss in her heart.
Only after their retreating figures vanished did she slowly step out from the shadows.
"Commander Long seems to be getting bullied by the Tang family," Xiao Lingyue stated bluntly.
"Yes," the female warrior immediately nodded, having overheard the earlier conversation. It sounded like Qin Long was being driven out of the Tang family. How unfortunate. Thankfully, Tang Xuewu treated him well.
"I came this time just to visit Brother Long," Xiao Lingyue said, her beautiful eyes turning icy as her trench coat fluttered behind her. "To those kind to him, we offer power and fine wine. To those unkind, we deliver shotguns and bullets. It seems the Tang family has chosen the latter."
The Tang family had saved a nearly-dead Qin Long, a great kindness that had to be repaid. But their insults and harassment toward him were a grievance.
Kindness must be repaid. And grievances must be settled.
Xiao Lingyue, just like Qin Long, was ruthlessly decisive.
"What should we do now, Miss?" the female warrior asked, shaking her head helplessly.
"Heavenly Dragon said he’s staying with the Tang family to repay Tang Xuewu for taking him in," Xiao Lingyue said coldly, lighting a slim cigarette designed for women. "We must help him."
The female warrior immediately understood. "Is it time to initiate Heavenly Dragon’s return to the Heavenly Dragon Army?"
"If the Tang family continues their misdeeds, let them plunge into the abyss. Just remember not to involve Tang Xuewu," Xiao Lingyue said, a cold smile playing on her lips as she looked at the female warrior.
"Miss, they are Old Lady Tang’s family," an aide chimed in, walking over with a frown.
"I don’t care who they are," Xiao Lingyue’s gaze grew colder, her tone resolute. "In my heart, there is only Commander Long."
She looked back at the Tang family’s small courtyard with a hint of reluctance, then bit her lip and climbed into the red jeep.
"Miss, aren’t you going to see Commander Long?" Qing’er reminded her from the side.
"Knowing he’s safe is enough," Xiao Lingyue said with a wave of her hand. "Let’s go. We have important matters to attend to."
Qing’er got into the driver’s seat and started the engine.
"Qing’er," Xiao Lingyue said, "I have a mission for you. Find a way to stay by Commander Long’s side. He’s injured and needs someone to look after him." She trusted Qing’er completely.
"Yes, Miss," Qing’er nodded vigorously, then asked with confusion, "Miss, rumor has it that Commander Long’s medical skills are unparalleled. How did he end up like this?"
Her question was clear.
"Commander Long’s medical skills are indeed the best in the world, but his meridians were damaged, and he needs time to recover," Xiao Lingyue explained, shaking her head helplessly. "Moreover, back when he was depleted of power, Qiu Hu landed a fatal blow. It caused severe internal injuries, which were made worse by a particularly dreadful and rare toxin. He will need time to recover."
If it were really that simple, she would have found a way to help Qin Long stand again long ago. Why else would he be in this state?
"I understand," Qing’er said no more.
Brother Long, Yue’er is waiting for your return. Your brothers have always been waiting for you. Brother Long, you still have us, and you have the Heavenly Dragon Army. They see you as their faith; your disciples and brothers are spread across the world. Xiao Lingyue thought silently.
「Meanwhile, in the Tang family’s courtyard.」
While Xuewu was taking a bath, Qin Long gazed out the window toward the Jiangzhong Bridge. It was peaceful there, yet he had the persistent feeling that someone was under the bridge.
Was it my imagination? Qin Long’s expression shifted slightly in puzzlement. He had distinctly felt someone approaching him earlier, but Xuewu’s voice had distracted him, so he hadn’t paid it any mind. Could it be Wang Ming, hiring someone to rough me up? After all, he hates me more than anyone in Jiangzhong right now. Or maybe it’s that young master I offended back in elementary school; it wouldn’t be hard for him to track me down.
Perhaps he was just being too sensitive. Still, you can’t be too careful. The fact that Wang Ming hadn’t been pestering Xuewu with confessions lately made Qin Long vaguely uneasy.
I will protect Xuewu. I absolutely will not let her get hurt. Qin Long’s eyes blazed with unwavering determination.
Suddenly, a fierce wind howled through the quiet night, as if foreshadowing something terrible to come.
「The next day.」
Tang Xuewu was already in the project general manager’s office. As the newly appointed president, she wanted to understand the company’s situation as quickly as possible. She intended to fundamentally change the business’s operating model, especially by eliminating the "princeling" departments filled by entitlement. She knew this was an opportunity from the heavens, and she was determined to make her mark.
However, Old Master Tang was already waiting for her that morning. As soon as he saw Xuewu, he approached with a wide smile.
"Xuewu, I’ll get straight to the point," he said. "I’m here to play matchmaker today. Who do you like more? Young Master Wang, or Mrs. Zhao’s nephew, Young Master Zhao?"
Old Master Tang’s words left Tang Xuewu completely stunned.
"Grandfather, what are you talking about?" she asked, first in shock, then with a hint of anger.
"You’re not young anymore. It’s time you found a husband," he stated bluntly.
"Grandfather, Qin Long is my fiancé!" she retorted after a moment’s thought, her brow furrowed. "I can’t do this to him."
"Xuewu, will you have a future with him?" Old Master Tang demanded, thumping the table. His tone brooked no argument. "What girl would want to marry a disabled man? Let me tell you, even if you agree, the Tang family won’t!"
Tang Xuewu was at a loss for words.
"Besides, Wang Ming is deeply devoted to you. The entire Tang family has seen this over the years. He also went to great lengths to help you secure the Yaolong Group’s order this time. So, don’t let down such a devoted young man."
"This..." Tang Xuewu furrowed her brow, looking at Old Master Tang in bewilderment.
Didn’t A-Long say he was the one who secured the Yaolong Group order? How could it be Wang Ming?
"Grandfather, my head is a bit muddled." Tang Xuewu’s mind went blank, replaying Qin Long’s words. He couldn’t have lied to me, could he? But Grandfather’s words can’t be false, right?
"It seems you don’t know the whole story," Old Master Tang said, calmly stroking his beard. "Chuchu personally investigated the big Yaolong Group order. It was Young Master Wang who asked his mother to intervene. She got her good friend, Mrs. Zhao, to help the Tang family. That’s why the Yaolong Group specifically requested you to sign the contract. Otherwise, do you think Mrs. Zhao is a fool? To give us so much profit for nothing, and even give seventy percent of it to you?!"
"What did you say?" she gasped.
