He Does Not Deserve My Devotion-Chapter 44: Nina Walsh’s Secret
Clara Jacobs barged into Nina Walsh’s office with a group of people. Without a word, she ordered them to get rough, her attitude incredibly arrogant.
Nina Walsh glared. "Clara Jacobs, what do you think you’re doing? We don’t owe anyone money. This is no place for you to throw a tantrum."
Clara Jacobs was livid. "Shameless! Don’t think I don’t know that Aiden Sinclair gave you six million. Aiden is my fiancé. If you use his money, you’re using my money. I have the right to take it back."
Nina Walsh laughed in her face. "Which one of your eyes saw me use Aiden Sinclair’s money? How ridiculous. You think everyone is like you, only knowing how to rely on men? I’m ordering you to leave this instant. Otherwise, don’t blame me for what happens next!"
Banking on her superior numbers, Clara Jacobs didn’t back down. Instead, she provoked Nina further. "I wouldn’t even look twice at this pathetic company of yours. Tell me, where is Aiden Sinclair? If you don’t, I’ll have my men tear this place apart."
’So that’s what this is about. How ridiculous. What do Aiden Sinclair’s whereabouts have to do with me?’
"If someone’s missing, you call the police. Even a three-year-old knows that. What are you doing here? Clara Jacobs, I have security cameras. If you don’t get out right now, I’ll let the entire internet know that your ’perfect persona’ in the entertainment industry is just an act," Nina Walsh said forcefully.
Her arrogance checked, Clara Jacobs flew into a rage out of sheer embarrassment. She turned to her men. "What are you all standing around for? Smash it! I’ll pay for anything you break."
The men heard the order and were about to move, but suddenly, more people rushed in from outside. Within seconds, they had Clara Jacobs’s men under control.
"I’d like to see who dares," Julian Sinclair said lightly, parting the crowd as he walked through.
Clara Jacobs froze. ’Why is Julian Sinclair here? Does he know this woman?’
"Still haven’t left?" Julian Sinclair shot Clara Jacobs a displeased look.
The men with Julian Sinclair were clearly trained fighters. Clara Jacobs didn’t dare to confront them head-on, so she could only take her people and leave Maelie in disgrace.
"Mr. Sinclair, thank you."
Although Nina Walsh didn’t know why Julian Sinclair had appeared so suddenly, she still politely thanked him.
Julian Sinclair had his men leave, then leaned against the door, watching her with great interest. "What’s the bad blood between you and Clara Jacobs?"
Nina Walsh replied casually, "Clara Jacobs also has a fashion company. She happened to acquire several suppliers Maelie used to work with. We had a few disagreements, nothing worth mentioning. Is there something you need, Mr. Sinclair?"
Julian Sinclair found a chair and sat down casually. "Where have you been these past few days? I’ve come looking for you several times. When are you free? We need to make another trip to Northgate Prison."
Nina Walsh grew wary. "If you need to see someone, Mr. Sinclair, why do you need me to accompany you?"
Julian Sinclair leaned back in his chair, his posture relaxed. "Third Aunt specifically asked me to look after you, which got me thinking... what’s your relationship with her? I’m a very curious person, so I had someone do a little digging."
Julian Sinclair turned to look at Nina Walsh. To Nina, he looked like a cunning old fox who would devour a person whole and not even spit out the bones.
"And what do you think I found?"
Nina Walsh felt like she was sitting on pins and needles. "Mr. Sinclair, you’re a man of great means. I’m sure you can find out anything you want to."
Julian Sinclair smiled. "For that, I have my dear nephew, Aiden Sinclair, to thank."
At the mention of Aiden Sinclair’s name, Nina’s heart skipped a beat. ’Has Julian Sinclair found out about my past with Aiden?’
"At first, my people couldn’t find anything. But then Aiden Sinclair came down on Brian Sherman. After Brian Sherman fell from grace overnight, the secrets he’d been trying to hide could no longer be kept."
Speaking of his former partner’s downfall, Julian Sinclair showed no trace of sentimentality or guilt.
’As expected of the Sinclair Family. Each one is colder and more ruthless than the last.’
Julian Sinclair spoke while observing Nina’s expression. Seeing the wariness in her eyes, he softened his tone. "Miss Walsh, don’t worry. I’ll keep your relationship with Third Aunt a secret."
"After all, Third Aunt was a friend of my mother’s. And you helped me learn the real reason for my mother’s death."
Julian Sinclair’s tone was rather self-mocking. When he finished, he took a party invitation from his suit pocket and placed it on the table.
"There’s a banquet tomorrow night. The founder of ALLBUY Mall will be there. If you can convince him to carry your clothing line, you won’t have to worry about sales."
Julian Sinclair put down the invitation and left Maelie.
Nina Walsh picked up the invitation. ’Whether it’s genuine or not, this is an opportunity I absolutely cannot miss.’
Nina Walsh put the invitation away, her fighting spirit renewed. She began searching online for all the information she could find on ALLBUY Mall and its founder.
After a full day of research, Nina Walsh carefully dressed up and went to the banquet venue the following evening.
This banquet was a gathering of industry leaders. Everyone in attendance was either rich or powerful. The venue was Crestfall’s most luxurious hotel, The Astral Hotel.
The moment Nina Walsh stepped into the banquet hall, she immediately drew countless gazes.
Tonight, she wore a long, fringed dress. It accentuated her swan-like neck and willow-thin waist. Layers of dangling, pearlescent beads refracted the light of the banquet hall, shimmering and sparkling brilliantly.
Despite being such a dazzling presence, she had a face of cool, stunning beauty, as if she held the entire world in disregard.
But it was precisely this kind of untouchable beauty that most aroused a man’s desire to conquer.
In the few steps it took to walk in, four or five men had already approached her to make conversation.
Nina Walsh politely refused them all.
Many female guests also came up to ask what brand her dress was, and Nina Walsh seized the opportunity to do a bit of promotion for Maelie.
Nina Walsh felt her confidence in tonight’s mission growing.
"Nina!"
Someone called her from behind. Nina Walsh turned to see Michelle Quinn walking toward her.
"Shelly, you’re here too?" Nina said, pleasantly surprised.
The two of them moved to a corner. Michelle Quinn asked, "Nina, who did you come with?"
"Julian Sinclair gave me an invitation. He said Mario, the founder of ALLBUY Mall, would be here. Shelly, do you know where he is?"
Michelle Quinn understood and started strategizing. "Julian Sinclair? Is he coming then? Julian and Mario are friends. If you get him to make an introduction, wouldn’t it be easier to get the contract?"
Nina Walsh shook her head. Last time, Milo Preston had also tried to make an introduction for her, but she was still thwarted by others.
Michelle Quinn said anxiously, "Then let me give you a heads-up. I heard from Cameron Lawson that Clara Jacobs’s fashion company also wants a spot in ALLBUY. Aiden Sinclair is accompanying her to the banquet tonight."
As if to confirm Michelle Quinn’s words, Clara Jacobs appeared at the entrance of the banquet hall, arm in arm with Aiden Sinclair. A handsome man and a beautiful woman, a top-tier power couple from the business and entertainment worlds, they instantly became the center of attention.
"Lemon, are you okay?" Michelle Quinn asked, concerned.
Nina Walsh shook her head. "I’m fine. I’m going to find Julian Sinclair."
’This time, I have to act fast. I can’t let Clara Jacobs win again.’
Nina Walsh found Julian Sinclair drinking alone in a corner of the hall. He was gazing toward the center of the room, where a crowd was gathered around Aiden Sinclair.
"Looking for me?"
"Mr. Sinclair, could you help me one more time? I want to meet Mr. Mario. Name your price," Nina Walsh said.
Julian Sinclair seemed drunk. The corners of his eyes were slightly upturned, and his cheeks were a little flushed. He shifted over, making space on the seat next to him, and patted it.
"Sit. Let’s talk."
Nina Walsh hesitated, but Julian Sinclair reached out and pulled her down beside him.
"What are you afraid of? I won’t hurt you. I don’t know why, but the first time I saw you, you felt familiar. I know we’re the same kind of people... fellow sufferers at the ends of the earth, heh."
’It’s true that I’m a sufferer, but you, Julian Sinclair? Your mother may have died young, but you have a doting old father and grew up adored by everyone. How are *you* suffering?’
Nina Walsh lowered her head, hiding her emotions. "Mr. Sinclair, you’re drunk."
Julian Sinclair took out a room key card. "I’m not drunk. I know what you want from me. I’ll help you. Mario is in room 5001..."
