He Does Not Deserve My Devotion-Chapter 43: Give Me Another Pill
The bedroom door closed. Michelle Quinn sat on the edge of the bed, holding Nina Walsh’s hand, her eyes filled with heartache.
They had only been apart for two days, but Nina Walsh looked like a completely different person. Her expression was haggard, as if she had been through immense hardship and suffering. She didn’t look like a 24-year-old young woman at all.
"Lemon, what happened to you? Mr. Lloyd said Aiden Sinclair took you. Dr. Grant and I have been looking for you everywhere."
If Aiden Sinclair hadn’t suddenly shown up at Michelle Quinn’s door at 5 AM this morning, she would have been at the police station filing a report right now.
"Nina, are you okay? Say something! Don’t scare me!"
Feeling Michelle Quinn’s warm embrace, Nina Walsh finally spoke. "Get me out of here."
...
About an hour later, Michelle Quinn came downstairs, holding an empty porridge bowl.
Aiden Sinclair let out a sigh of relief. "The doctor is on the way. Please stay a little longer, Miss Quinn."
"That won’t be necessary," Michelle Quinn refused. "Nina Walsh asked me to tell you something. She doesn’t want to be here."
"Then where does she want to go?" Aiden Sinclair asked without thinking.
Michelle Quinn looked at him, puzzled. ’How could the renowned business prodigy, Aiden Sinclair, not understand what that sentence means?’
"Mr. Sinclair, do I need to be more direct? Nina Walsh doesn’t want to see you. What you did to her has left her body covered in wounds and has shattered her spirit time and time again. You brought her here against her will. That’s false imprisonment, and it only fills her with terror."
Aiden Sinclair was unmoved. "I’m not letting her go."
Michelle Quinn stared at him in disbelief. "I don’t know what you’re thinking, Mr. Sinclair. When she was by your side, completely devoted to you and only you, you turned a blind eye. Now, you have a new love, and she has decided to let go of all past grievances. So why do you refuse to let her go?"
Michelle Quinn pleaded again, "She’s at her breaking point right now. If this continues, she’ll collapse one day. If you have any lingering affection for Nina Walsh, Mr. Sinclair, please, let her go."
A sharp pain pierced Aiden Sinclair’s heart, but his voice remained cold and arrogant. "Two years ago, she deliberately got close to me, hiding her true intentions. She should have known the consequences when she chose to provoke me back then."
Michelle Quinn considered this for a few seconds, then said gravely, "Mr. Sinclair, do you know why Nina Walsh didn’t show up when her mother passed away three years ago?"
...
「That afternoon」 Declan Grant drove to Cloudcrest Manor and picked Nina Walsh up.
Nina Walsh’s foot was injured. From behind the curtain, Aiden Sinclair watched Declan Grant carry her to the car.
As Declan Grant held her, her arms wrapped obediently around his neck.
’She trusts Declan Grant, not me.’
Recalling their past, Aiden Sinclair had to admit a certain fact:
He had hurt her too deeply. She would never forgive him in this lifetime.
’Not bothering her is the best way I can make it up to her.’
After sitting listlessly in his study for a while, he got a call from Jay Keane.
"Mr. Sinclair, we have a problem," Jay Keane said urgently. "Klaus in Ferelden is refusing to renew our contract. The Ferelden branch doesn’t know how to handle it."
After Aethel was founded, the domestic market was monopolized by the Sinclair Group. So, Aiden Sinclair took a different approach, first establishing a foothold in Ferelden before expanding back home. Klaus was Aethel’s biggest client, and the two had always worked well together.
"What happened?" Aiden Sinclair asked. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Julian Sinclair has been sending people to secretly contact Klaus. He must be the one pulling strings behind the scenes."
"Understood. I’ll go see Klaus myself."
...
Under Declan Grant’s attentive care, Nina Walsh’s foot had mostly healed.
"Nina, your passport and visa are ready. We can leave anytime. Just tell me when you want to go, and I’ll book the tickets."
Declan Grant didn’t dare let Nina Walsh stay in Crestfall any longer. Her entanglement with Aiden Sinclair would only bring her more pain.
Nina Walsh felt a pang of guilt. ’What have I ever done to deserve such meticulous care from Declan Grant?’
"I’m not leaving. Second Brother Grant, that pill you gave me last time... can you give me another one?"
Declan Grant was stunned. "You still don’t want the two children? I can send you abroad right away. No one will find you."
Nina Walsh said with determination, "I’ve made up my mind. I don’t want any connection to Aiden Sinclair. I need to sever all ties with him."
’If memories could be deleted, she would have already ripped out every thought of Aiden Sinclair from her mind, root and stem.’
Declan Grant didn’t know whether to be happy or worried. The woman he loved had decided to cut all ties with her ex, which should have made him happy. But he worried that Nina Walsh would regret it later, especially since she might never be able to get pregnant again in the future.
"Nina, no matter what, I’ll support your decision."
In the end, Declan Grant agreed to give Nina Walsh the abortion pill.
Once Nina Walsh’s foot had healed, Leo Lloyd called and asked her to come to the company, saying he had a surprise for her.
Nina Walsh arrived at Maelie. She hadn’t been there in half a month. Maelie had a new sign, had been renovated inside and out, and they had even rented the three-story building next door.
"Ms. Walsh, this is your office."
Leo Lloyd led Nina Walsh into an office. The interior was decorated exactly like Rose Walsh’s old office.
Nina Walsh felt as if she had been transported back to her childhood, to the times she would come here to play with her mother and grandfather.
"This really is a surprise."
Leo Lloyd said, "After receiving the funds, I immediately went and hired back all the old colleagues. Everyone here worked hard alongside Old Mr. Winters and has a deep affection for Maelie. Now, with our staff in place and sufficient funding, the company is back on track. Everyone who has seen your designs can’t stop praising them. Once the products officially launch in another two weeks, Maelie will definitely reach a new level."
Nina Walsh’s spirits lifted instantly. This was the best news she had heard in months.
"But even the best product won’t sell itself. The marketing work ahead is the most critical part."
Having found something to do, Nina Walsh threw herself into her work, and the gloom in her heart was pushed aside.
She called Michelle Quinn to share the good news about Maelie.
"Shelly, why don’t you come to Maelie too? I’ll give you a share of the company. The two of us together would be invincible."
Hearing the cheerful tone in her voice, Michelle Quinn was both happy and relieved.
"Lemon, thank you for the kind offer. Unfortunately, I’ve already signed with a new employer, so I can’t jump ship just yet. You do well, and when you make it big, I’ll come mooch off you. Don’t you dare look down on me then, Ms. Walsh."
"Shelly, when did you find a new job? What company is it? How come you didn’t tell me?" Nina Walsh asked curiously.
On the other end of the line, someone called Michelle Quinn’s name. Michelle said she had something to take care of and hurriedly hung up.
Nina Walsh didn’t think much of it. She sat down in her new office and began to seriously consider the marketing for the new products.
Just as she was lost in thought, a rush of jarring footsteps echoed from outside. The next second, the office door was thrown open with a BANG by a brutish force, and several figures burst in.
"Smash it all! I’ll pay for anything you break!"
